I got a call from United Arbitration (a "Kimberly Reed") looking for my mother stating that there was a complaint against her, and that she had 24-28 hours to respond.  They also gave a "file affidavit" number.  I am an attorney, so I called back as my mom's attorney, and spoke to "Carol Johnson".  I gave my bar number, but would not give my mom's address when they asked for it.  She said she couldn't talk to me and that she hoped I would represent my mom in court when she gets subpoenaed.  Then she hung up on me.  I called back and spoke to "Jameson Walter", who said he was "the floor supervisor".  He said several attempts had been made to serve my mother regarding a Citibank loan, and that the purpose of their calls was to see if my mom wanted to settle or go to court.  I said that if several attempts had been made to serve her, there must be an index number in court, or even a court in which the case was pending.  He ignored my question, then gave some nonsensical responses.  When I kept asking, he talked over me, not letting me speak.  When I asked if I could say something, he said "no".  He then said that this sounded like a "bunch of b.s." and hung up on me.  I called the BBB of Eastern North Carolina.  They indicated that they have no record of this company, nor does the North Carolina Secretary of State, nor does the Durham County Register of Deeds, and that they have received several calls regarding this entity.  This is 100% a scam, and no one should give them any identifying information.

How funny, the guy who called me said his name was WALKER CURRY!  Gave me the same talk, about him being a special investigator for this so called litigation firm.  I know I have no reason to be involved in any litigation against or by anybody.  Still it scared me a little.

My Father also received a call from this company from a Walter Curry, stating that they were suing him on behalf of a bank in Nevada for contracts he had signed in 2009.  My Dad did not sign contracts with ANY bank in Nevada~~EVER! I called the 919-408-7049 and selected the settle a claim option and was told that all service reps were busy and to wait for the next available one. I was on hold for over ten minutes and than a message said that I could leave a voice mail message by pressing 8.  I pressed 8 and  the call ended. My brother did a search for this FAKE company for the state of PA and found that they prey on seniors who own land over the Marcellous Shale in Pennsylvania. All of you sons & daughters, nieces & nephews & grandchildren too~~Please take care of the senior members of your families. Always, always let them know you are just a phone call away at any time when they may need you to help & advise them!!

I received a call from this number today and it was about my sister. It was a David Winters, and he stated that a complaint was filed on her. I returned the call, and he said it was from G.E. Capitol regarding a mastercard from 2006. She has never had a mastercard from G.E. Capitol. He even called me Mrs. Winters! I guess he forgot his last name and thought it was mine! Just told me she'd get a subpoena in the mail. I told him that this was a scam because my sister had looked it up on the internet. He stated, "Tell that to the judge when you go to court." They called me, my sister, and my parents with the same message.

I got the same call yesterday at 4:45pm (CST) & the message was from a woman named Rachel, who, like everyone else's, said she was a private investigator, gave a referenced claim number, fwd to atty, etc, etc.. She was referring to my husband, who by the way does not have a facebook acct, nor do I post anything regarding him..

hmm wonder what they're getting out of this, besides scaring people thinking they are getting sued for something. Wow, I lost sleep over this!

The message also clearly stated about the restraining order, too..
Wish there was something we can do about this! It's awful to get that kind of call..

I got a msg yesterday afternoon on my cell phone, from a woman named Rachel, saying she was a private investigator & that a restraining order was put on my husband, we had 24-48 hrs to respond & to forward on to an Attorney.

Needless to say, it shook us up pretty bad.

I called the number back & the msg says to call back during normal business hours... (to no avail). My husband isn't from here, and doesn't really know anyone, so we couldn't figure out who or why someone would want to sue him/ restraining order on him.

It's the same number as all the other people on here: 1-919-408-7049.

I looked up the name of the company she said it was, come to find out that there are alot of people this is happening to.
Isn't there a way to stop them?

    Thank you

I am the owner of United Arbitration, Inc. a New York corporation. I have no connection to 919-408-7049. I have received several calls in the past few days by citizens reporting this number and using my name. I will be contacting the NC Attorney General regarding this matter. Again we have no connection with this outfit and have no offices outside of New York.

Thank you to everyone for your helpful posts.... they have helped me ease the stress and frustration I felt when I first received the message from my ex-spouse'... He mentioned that my (ex) Mom-in-law received the call this morning from a Katrina Baker a special investigator who was looking for me regarding a pending legal matter, involving a restraining order against me and that I or my attorney have exactly 24 hrs to contest.   I need to contact her today!!!   I said... "WHAT"?????..... I wouldn't harm a fly..... who would do something like this???.... I was at work when I received the call and immediately looked it up on the internet.... to my dismay.... i was relieved when I read all your helpful posts :)   .... I work within Law Enforcement.   I was told to report this to the Police Department within the area where the call was received and report the call....  THIS IS A SCAM!!!!!!    DO NOT CONTACT THEM!!!!
    Good Luck to Everyone!!!

My boyfriend has recieved the same call. These people called my parents house looking for him. Same scenario. They left a message...some broad named Amanda Perkins with some claim #VVS2327. These people are claiming someone filed a legal claim and restraining order against my boyfriend and that he needs to contact his attorney within 24-48 hours. My dad did a google search of the number and found a bunch of info about this scam. Everyone just be aware and don't trust anyone. These people NEED to be reported and punished for trying toscam hard working moral citizens out of their hard earned money...what a bunch of pieces of $H!%!!!!!!!

I rec'd the same message from "Kimberly Reed" saying same thing... I am a Respondent in a Complaint.  I have worked in litigation in the past and this is now how things are done.

What I thought was strange was that it went to my Comcast voice mail when I have an answering machine.  It was almost as if they were able to go directly into the Internet voice mail.  Anyway, I think I would know if there was any issue in which a restraining order was placed against me!!

I wanted to thank everyone too for posting because it helps everyone else.  Stupid scammers.  People are getting desperate with this bad economy.

I have been researching these A$$H@L3$ ever since my first post yesterday. These people are not BBB accredited!!! All I have to say is check out this website http://www.bbb.org/raleigh-durham/business-re ... ham-nc-90192364 there is an alert in bright red letters...read it!!!

My boyfriend called them about 5 times today to get info on his supposed case and they would never answer his questions. He finally got real nasty with them over the phone and they ended up telling him to stop calling that he was harrassing them...LMAO!!!! He told them that they were the ones harrassing people by trying to scam hard working american citizens out of their hard earned money.

I then called posing as his attorney and they would not give me any info about his supposed case unless I gave themmy bar #. I told the guy not until he gave me his name and employee I.D. # If he was working for a legitimate company then he wouldn't mind giving me this info. He then told me "Have a nice day ma'am" and hung up on me.

I then called again a little later and spoke to a woman. I asked her if she was located in New York and she said she didn't know but she could transfer me there. When she tried they were convieniently closed. I then asked where she was located and she told me Houston, Texas. I asked her how she could be located in Houston, Texas when I was calling a Durham County, North Carolina #? Needless to say she hung up on me.

I`ve notified the Durham police department and I was told they are aware of the situation, it is being investigated. It is a national issue so the FBI is actually investigating these scumbags. I'm not through with these people by a longshot. I`m gonna see this through to the very end. If this was such a legitimate company these people wouldn't act so unprofessional. Just everyone look out for these scammers!!!!

Yikes!!!!!!!! talk about stressing someone out with them calling me. I tried looking the name of the company up, which I was told was United Arbitration Services. But I can't find any company with that name at all. Then I tried looking it up by the phone number that was given me, 1-919-408-7049. which led me to this site. Thank you all for helping reduce my stress level.

But this sucks. I will be calling the NC Att general with a complaint, as well as the NC state police and any other place I can find to report them.
    Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

JUST got off the phone with the Attorney General from North Carolina. I feel so much better after talking with him.
    His suggestions are:
    1) DO NOT answer the phone if you do not know who is calling

    2) if you do talk with someone from this phone number. STOP!!! do NOT call them back. As when you engage with them on the phone, each call will get worse and worse from them. As in swearing, threatenig legal action hell threatening a whole bunch of things.

    3) DO NOT EVER call them back. EVER!!!!!!!!!!

    4) The attorney general told me, that this so called business is calling more people, more often as the attorney genrals office is flooding this phone number along with other numbers with calls ALL DAY!!!!  PAY BACK IS A [***]...sorry ..
