    called by a "brandon frasier"
For the past few weeks Ive been receiving a call from 800-347-4057. They would call almost once a day and never leave a message. today I finally answered and some moron calling himself "Brandon frasier" was asking to speak with me. I played dumb and tried to get some info out of him but he kept saying "this is a personal business matter" so I told him to go f$ck himself and get a real job. I googled the name and the phone number and came across this website. I just went to verizon and put the number on my block list. these people are scum.

There is a very large fake "debt" collection racket operating out of Corona CA.

They operate under more than 60 names, using mail drops at UPS Stores scattered around Corona and surrounding cities.

Their MO is identical to that reported here.

    Google "Corona Scam".
    Report to FTC.

If it's not the Corona Scam, it may be this one, also with operations in Corona.

I received the same message 10/10/11. The call came from (951)279-4500 and the message stated to call (951)737-4800. The 737 numer is listed to a William Bryant according to reverse look up. I was told they were ready to serve my husband for an unpaid bill. When I stated that was not possible, what SSN did they have, the man John, hung up. When I called bvack, he admitted to hanging up. I called a third time and spoke with a Mr. Martin, who gave me the last 4 digits of a SSN, which did not belong to me or my husband. He stated he would remove our phone number. I believe we have received threatening calls before from this same company.

just filed a complaint with the BBB, the CA Atty. General and the FTC. Hopefully with enough complaints, we can get these people out of business.  The complaint process on-line was easy. I encourage everyone to do the same.

These losers hung up on ME after i tried to settle an old credit card debt of 200 bucks!  they called my mom and my sister and harassed them.  a. dont give them your ss#, b. dont give them a cent, c. ask for a civil complaint number if they claim to have filed suit (call their bluff), and d. ask for all information in writing.  they are such idiots.  dont let them harass you or worry about being sued from them

Contact FTC.  They are investigating fraudulent debt collection in the Corona area, and just sued a bunch of them.

Exact pace call regarding property address. I reported to FCC, FTC site not working. Clearly a SCAM. I would love to harass them as they are nothing but criminals and thieves. They will get theirs in the long run.

    wrong number
Received calls from JDI & Assoc LLC 951-737-4800. Stating that I had a legal claim against me and it involved my property. I am 86 years old. Do not have any legal claims against me. They would not tell me what the claim involved or who the company was. They hung up on me when I asked questins. Then they resumed calling me the next day and leaving "urgent" messages on my answering machine.
These people need to be stopped.

Send a certified cease and desist  letter with receipt requested,  Keep all calls documented. They are suppose to send you a notice within 5 days of any contact they make with you. ( However, if they haven't established that it is you, you won't get one. )  It would also seem, that they are to notice you before a lawsuit is filed. This give you the chance to dispute the debt, asking for them to validate, with original receipts and statements. Also, request that they send you something that has been signed by you.

Then keep an eye out to make sure they haven't filed a law suit in your name and served it someplace else.   You can use https://www.courts.mo.gov/casenet/cases/searchCases.do?searchType=name to see if they have actually filed a suit.  If they are threating a garnishment, and you see that they haven't even filed a suit, then they are in violation.

There is much more, that you could do. Just do not let them get a default judgement because you didn't show up in court.  In order to try to keep that from happening you should do the following.
    1. Check with casenet searching by your name. This will bring up any pending or past lawsuits.
    2. If you find a case with your last name, check to see if a summons has been issued.
    3. If a suit has been filed, and you haven't been served, check the parties tab to see who it is that has filed the suit.
    4. If you owe them, and can pay, then contact them for a settlement. They should discount what they are trying to collect anywhere from 10% to 60%. They won't discount much on your first call. However, they usually will as it gets older.
    5. If you can't pay the debt settlement or not, do NOT make any arrangements unless you know that you can do what you say.  Because, once you start with a payment, it starts that date of activity over. A credit card that is not signed for in a bank, usually, as a statute of limitations of 5 years. That date is derived from the date that you defaulted, some courts, deem that date as the last payment. So, for example, you were into your fourth year. And only had 1 year to go before it was collectible. You will roll the clock to the agreed last payment, and starts from their.  Also, credit reports are only to report for seven years from the last activity, so if you start with a payment, and then stop, you have just made the debt reportable for another 7 years.

One more thing. Anytime you can record the conversations, do it. And let them know that you are doing it.  Let them know that you are making a record, to be used in a civil suit, to which the individual making the calls can be held personally responsible.

Again, my caveat.  Make sure that you check with an attorney. Everything that I have stated, is just a personal opinion, and is made without knowing the all of the facts, and should be treated that way.

If you want to check into defending yourself prose.  Check out the following link.  This is the only one that I would feel confortable in recommending.

Yup.  Just received my call from this scammer.  Property address?  Could ya be a bit more clever?  If I found this website, I'm sure JDI can find it too. Is there anyone who doesn't know about these guys yet?  How long does it take for a court case to be filed and tried ... against THEM?  Seems there's enough info here.  Scam after scam after scam.  And the couple of "Oh no!  I really got served!  Be aware and be afraid.  This is a real company." posts ... please.  BBB = F grade for a reason.

Just reported this company to the BBB in California.  The phone calls I have received are no different than the ones you all have received.  They call all the time and have even called my mother regarding this bogus claim against my daughter.  The rude telephone calls and their "lawyer" who is more than likely not a lawyer didn't even sound as if he graduated high school!  Do not send these people money!  They must provide you with information that they do not have and cannot provide.  Please go to your local Better Business Bureau website and file a complaint by typing in their telephone number (951-737-4800).  It will direct you to the California BBB and all you have to do is start typing your complaint.  It took me no more than 10 minutes to complete the form.
