They are unscrupulous debt collectors. My suspicion is that they comb through any public records they can find: assessors records, court records, even websites like MyLife.com. Then they start calling anyone with the same last name or purported relationship. We do not have any outstanding debts but I called them back after they called my house.My daughter was very concerned when she heard the message that they were calling "regarding the property". They told me they were looking for someone with the same last name as my wife's maiden name, which is what appears on our property record as we were not married when we bought our house.

Nearly all the tactics being used by this company are against the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

Got a call today from a David Murdock JDI Ass. from a debt that I had back in 2007 - which appears no where on my credit report.  Nice tone he took from with. They are soooo smart the have an address from 5 years and no other current information.

They are dept collectors...!!  Strong Arming You, I got off the phone with them hanging up cause they wouldn't listen to me, and  yelled at me, and would not let me talk!!!!!....

I had this call on my answering machine when I got back from work.  It said the same message as the rest "This is JDI & Associates calling regarding your property address.  We need you to call us back today."  I called them back from my cell phone and blocked my number so they wouldn't have it on their caller I.D.  The guy answered corporate office and I asked what company I was calling.  He said JDI & Associates.  I asked him what kind of company they were and he said, what number are you calling from.  I said "That's not what I asked you.  I asked you what kind of company you are."  He put me on hold and another guy got on the line.  We went through the same lines as I did with the first guy  and he got extremely belligerent with me when I wouldn't give him my name or phone number.  He started literally screaming at me, "Oh, you call from a private line and won't give me your information.  You can bet we're going to prosecute you to the fullest extent, etc. etc."  I told him that if he had my phone number he should have my name and address and to feel free to serve papers on me anytime he wants.  I ended up hanging up on him because the conversation was getting nowhere with him screaming and it was obvious this was not a legitimate business call.  This call came from

This guy/# has been calling our home for the last week.  We did not call number back.  I just kept yelling at them and glad to know others got this call and they will never call again. Thanks

I just received a call from a man from JDI & Associates, telling me it was regarding my property, I decided to look it up on the internet and found this site, thank you all, at first I was curious as to what this could be about, but now I see it's just a scam - Well I won't waste my time with it - but I do believe I will contact the BBB. These people keep calling & leaving messages. Need to call them TODAY about my property.

I have revived a call from this number also in the last 2 days and the man was VERY RUDE!! i didn't have a clue why they are calling me and demanding i call back?? thank you for posted this....saved me a lot of worry and MY TIME!! HOW CAN WE STOP IT though?????

OMG!!! The set on these folks!! My mom got same call for me at my old number. I called it, and ALMOST agreed to installment payments (because I was honestly tired of fighting this all this time). This was actually an account thru HSBC also, however, it was a fraudulent account, that I had been fighting against for the last 3 years! This man's name was TODD SHAW!!! He is also a "Legal Administrator" (Illegal Crook). This wonderful person spoke to me as if I were a child, then threatened me with the law! When I finally got him to shut up, long enough for me to speak, because the more I disagreed with him, the louder and mader her got. I then informed him, (in a unfriendly manner), 1st, that I was not a child, and would not be spoke to like one, and 2nd, just because I was from the south, and talked slow, didn't mean I was stupid, and that they DID NOT lock you up for not paying your bills!! He then calmed down, and began to speak in a more civil tone. This is when he advised me of the settlement. He then advised me that he was going to "run" it by the collection agency, and call me back in 10 minutes. While waiting on his return call, I began thinking, & putting things together. I thought 1st about his illegal attempts at collecting, as well as this not being my acct, so I searched for debt collecting laws and found an advocate for harrassing debt collectors!! harrassmentadvocate.com!!! I called and was given some outstanding advice, which happened to include that he sounded like fraudulent debt collector!! They also told me to do some research on the account as well as some questions to ask him to verify his legitimacy, and his answers definately threw up red flags!!! The final straw was when he sent me, what he calls as "settlement agreement", he e-mailed to me. It simply flat out looked fake! But, before I received it, I called him back to ask for his first name & the name of the current collection agency. He became very defense of the information I was asking for, and actually said "what are you doing, trying to verify I am who I say I am?", which all he gave me was his first name. He also told me that I would have to call him back tomorrow to give him either my checking account information or debit card number!!! THAT WAS IT!! I did receive the "settlement agreement", in which I am going to reply, in a manner he will understand that I will not be sending him any money! I did call back, spoke with some young lady, advised her I did not want to speak with him, but to simply leave a message, and that was I'd see him in court!! But folks, please BEWARE!!!! Thank you so much to whoever started this site!!! Thank you is not enough! The BBB can't do anything to these folks for fraud, but the attorney general of the state of California can!! And that's where I'm going, and I invite you all to assist and join in!!!

The same thing happened to me. I asked him all kinds of questions about their company and he sounded so lost, stuttering with every response.  What a joke.

we called back and they couldn't tell us a thing about what they did other then they handled several different law firms that deal with civil litigation's. the msg was very rude and very threatening.
