You must be a loser to write this and you must be a scumbag debtor. You make a bill you repay, not 20 a month, you work or borrow but you repay in a timely fashion and since you are too unintelligent, say did the credit card company let you only use 20.00 at a time so quit the loser attitude and do what is right,it doesnt matter about age or what the banks did,you borrowed money, repay it,plain and simple. You should learn to stop be criminal minded

PEOPLE...dr jaun is a low life debt collector who isn't making any monies,so he will call you and lie that he can have you arrested because he is desperate, the economy screwed you,,people lost there jobs and cant pay the rent he wants you to make payments so he can make his 15% commission.
i do agree that you should try and pay your debt if your working but always pay the mortgage or rent, lights heat and phone and make sure you have food before even considering paying a low life lying debt collector,.and again don't use your personnel checks if you do then they have your bank name checking account and routing number that's when they will take your money from you, they don't care if you get evicted.
dr jaun why don't you get a job in security you will make more money then a sleazy debt collector

How on earth can you go against the grain of legality and morality and take a totally criminal stance about contractual liability.Have you totally lost touch with reality?  When money is borrowed it has to be repaid and when its not,yes a debt collector will be calling to recover said debt.It is a  legitimate profession that works to recover money to banks, and other entities. Yes  they probably do commission,an incentive to work hard and find the funds, and why shouldnt they. It's probably a tough job.Dead beats hanging up,not answering the phone, cursing when they do pick it up and just in general dealing with trashy "people" that have criminal intent. If only the indebted would call their creditors and ask them to help them in their time of difficulty then everyone would prevail. But to take a criminal side of it and damn the collections industry is preposterous and I would ask you to do an about face and call it what it is.Fair is fair

dr jaun....let me ask you what fair is...
is it fair for a debt collector to lie
is it fair for a debt collector to tell a person on disability that they will freeze your ssn check
is it fair for a debt collector to tell someone that they will be arrested
is it fair for a debt collectors to come on 800 notes and post shill posts
is it fair for a debt collector to say there a law firm
is it fair for a debt collector to use scare tactics
is it fair for a debt collector to call a women and say if you don't pay me 400.00 by 12pm i will have your husband dishonorably discharge from the military  (NCO)
is it fair for a debt collector to blame the economy on the debtors and we all know its the banks fault.
is it fair for a debt collector to overcharge the interest
is it fair for a debt collector to illegally withdraw monies from your bank
and you say i take a criminal stance..the collection companies are violating the fdcpa and you know it and i bet you do all the above and that makes you a low life debt collector

You assume much, that everyone breaks the law that tried to collect a debt, which isn't true however when you borrow money and not repaying, isnt that theft? Quit taking an antagonistic stance against the law. That is totally wrong of you and you should rot in hell for being that way.You obviously are some kind of demented individual to not realize that you have to repay your debts.Grow up!!!!

dr jaun....first i said in my previous posts that you should try and pay the debt, but first pay your rent, utilities and food then if you have something left over and make a payment,,,if you don't have any monies left over then the debt collection company can wait..i also said if you can make payment arrangements with original creditor then do it because we all know that sleazy collection companies like yours will lie and rip you off..
what do you expect these people to do they lost there jobs because of the banks screwing up the economy, now there on unemployment making less money but the food and rent got increases.
the only reason why your on here is because it affects your commission,,it hurts when you make only 10.00 an hour and no commission,i bet when you go home debt collectors are calling you and now you have to take desperate measures so you lie to the debtors that they will be arrested and use scare tactics...
you say i assume to much well lets go to a web-site BUDHIBBS.COM bring your mouse to agencies don't click the mouse but the word WATCHLIST will appear and click on that and you will see over 240 sleazy debt collection companies violating the fdcpa and bud hibbs is a consumer advocate for over 25 years and he close down the sleazy debt companies and law firms also.
ill give you two companies...NCO calls this women whose husband is in Iraq fighting the war and the low life debt collector says to her that they will have her husband dishonorable discharge from the military unless you send me x-amount of monies..
the other low life company NORTH AMERICAN ASSET was on TV secretly being tapped and you can see all the violations the company made and one of the owners went to prison for stealing peoples monies..this in only two of the companies out of 240 companies and you say i assume to much.
PEOPLE make these sleazy low life collection companies validate the debt..
    YOU WANT FULL VALIDATING
WHEN YOU OPEN AND CLOSED THE ACCOUNT
    ALL CHARGES AND PAYMENTS MADE
HOW THEY ACCRUED THE INTEREST SO YOU CAN DO THE MATH BECAUSE THEY ALWAYS MAKE MISTAKES WHEN THEY DO THE INTEREST BUT THE BEST PART THE MISTAKE ARE ALWAYS IN THERE FAVOR.
YOU WANT THE ORIGINAL CONTRACT WITH YOUR SIGNATURE
IF THEY CANT VALIDATE THE DEBT,.,THEN THE DEBT IS INVALID
THE LAW IS ON YOUR SIDE. .
no sir you should rot in hell for being a low-life sleazy debt collector

There are people who have criminal minds that want to whine and [***] about everything and not step up and repay said borrowed funds.I say borrowed and not plundered because in this country,we have a distinct set of double standards.I f you shoplift you suffer legal repercussions, conversely if you borrow and don't pay then you are subject to judgments and lawsuits depending on the size of said loan.On the moral and ethical side, when you sign your name to  a legally binding  contract and don't follow that then you are in breach of said contract and exposed to a set of remedies the law says may happen if you don't comply. Now why on earth would you tell people to pay other bills first, that totally goes against the grain and accuses a profession that is entrusted to recover funds as sleazy? It is a totally needed profession and one that if wasn't around would cause the cost of consumable good to skyrocket.Debt collectors are a special breed and it is a very difficult career. To make the same calls that go unanswered day after day.Getting hung up on,being told i cant pay.I strongly suggest that for a week you come do what we do and you will see for your self and then perhaps you wouldn't be so quick to judge and put all debt collectors in the sleazy category. That's  like saying that one race commits more crimes than another. And really,it's not your place to judge.Let the man upstairs do that.So please don't further your diatribe.Just acknowledge that my words of wisdom are correct.I digress

dr jaun...you know that saying..there is a few bad apples in the bunch...when it comes to debt collectors there is a few good apples and i mean a FEW in the bunch..
dr jaun I'm not defending the debtors who are working and decide not to pay because he wants to buy things,,I'm defending the people who lost there jobs or there pay was cut and there barely getting by.
man goes to work and makes 800.00 a week,,,he gets laid off and now he gets 400.00 a week,he is getting about 1500.00 less a month,so this is why i say pay the rent/mortgage first and your utility bills and food the the collection company can wait and when you do go back to work and decide to pay the collectors you can get most of the interest charges deducted from your debt.dr jaun when you get laid off you will pay your rent over the charge cards.
my words or messages is not abusive I'm trying to let the people know that most of these collection companies are low life's and sleazy, they will lie to you,use scare tactics and violate the federal law to get your monies because they only get paid 7.00 to 10.00 and hour and 15% of what they collect and there  commission is way down in the dumps.
PEOPLE...if you receive a 1099c tax form from a debt collection company you call the IRS and ask for a 982 tax form and prove your insolvent and the 1099c form will be wiped out

You should refrain, once again from judging debt collectors and making remarks that they are sleazy, when they are doing their jobs.Yes there are a few bad apples as are there a few bad apples in anything. One need to look no further than Major league Baseball's steroid scandal,Yes? So please stop judging the industry as a whole.wE ALL NEED TO EARN A LIVING,and as long as it's done honestly and with integrity then all is well.By the same token, creditors expect to be remunerated and every effort should be made to do that or use the bankruptcy laws for relief, yes? So,lets call fair fair,ok?

Yes, you are correct that there are good debt collection companies.  You are mistaken in saying the "few" bad apples, as this has become an "epidemic".  I get calls from these people also (limited as they are), and am in debt only with 1 local place (which have arrangements made with them). These calls originate in the United States (where I DO NOT live), so are in NO WAY legitimate.  Legitimate companies also would not act the way these people do (professionalism).  Harassment is in no way professional, or for that matter legal.

"Scammy Debtors" - Ah, if only we paid debts on principle; I would suggest you don't pay your student loans back. It's obvious education failed you; you can't spell for crap. Wow! I've heard of many people who were married to someone who racked up debt behind their back. What about people with drug or gambling problems? People will find a way to hide their spending habits. My exes dad had a cocaine problem for years before his wife figured out there was a few thousand missing from their savings. My sister hides a huge shopping addiction from her husband.  Maybe this woman didn't handle the finances during her previous marriage? Just maybe they had separate bank accounts? I work with a woman who has a separate bank account from her husband. How would she know if he was spending money from his unless he told her? People don't necessarily have tangible items when they spend money so to assume that she knew about her exe's debt is ridiculous.

Cherylyn~ and I'll bet your 5 year old can spell better than these idiots too! LOL! I've dealt with unethical collectors but I have NEVER in my life seen this before! If these posts from Sydney and Mike etal are really from them; they've got some screw loose! Not only are they completely illiterate; how unprofessional does posting insults on a website look? OMG! I'm glad I don't have to deal with them; or should I say, they should be glad they don't have to deal with me! HAHA!

You think the economy is in such rough shape because of people not paying their bills? Wow, you need a class in economics! Teeheehee! Maybe if you folks (the collectors) were a little nicer and followed the FDCPA, yes, even with those people who avoid your calls, you'd get a better response out of people. Stop taking it so personal when someone doesn't call you back that you have to start verbally abusing them! It says absolutely NOTHING in the FDCPA that you can lie and use threats if someone refuses to answer your call. My father always taught me to get respect you have to earn it. And you are certainly not going to get mine if you call threatening me with fake warrants. I'm quite sure, just by how uneducated and illiterate these posts sound, that I am FAR more intelligent than any of you, and you cannot fool me. Oh, and I want to add, I am debt-free (and, by debt-free I mean I owe no one anything, not even current accounts) as of January 2011. You can bet I paid off the agencies that treated me decently before the ones that didn't.  So, if you think I am just one of those "lying, cheating debtors", you are absolutely wrong! I'm just someone that believes that you get back what you put out there and that every situation is different. You can't throw every single person who owes money into the same heap. Everybody's story is different.

OMG, WHAT does being an "athlete on a lacrosse team" have to do with anything? That's like a man in a bar hitting on you and telling you his yearly income. Do you think that impresses anyone? And, for the record, if these poor defenseless debt collectors are so stressed, why don't they find something else to do? Oh, that's right, because they are probably not well educated and cannot find another type of employment. Although, I will admit, from past experience, that a lot of people that owe money seem to get abusive even when a debt collector is acting decent but, they should try to rise above and not sink to the level of the abuser. I believe that would be the professional way to go. The best way to [***] someone attacking you like that is to remain calm and professional; trust me, it will aggravate the crap out the attacker. Seriously, think about it, when someone cuts you off on the highway and you flip them the bird, and they smile and wave; doesn't that make you more angry? On the subject of lying and having to perform skiptraces; how about when a debt collector refuses to give you his/her identity and you have to locate THEM to find out if they are legit? Just happened to me a couple of weeks ago; I had some fake debt collector call with the threats etc.; come to find out they are not a real collection agency, just a bunch of jerks trying to extort money from people. The debt I supposedly had was from a payday loan company that doesn't even offer loans in my state. There is nothing wrong with trying to legitimize a company before giving them your money. Yeah, enough said...

My two cents... replies to DR JUAN PORTILLONS
    | 1 reply
Gee, Dr. Juan, you accuse "aaa" of "assuming much" about debt collectors, but reading your posts, you seem to assume that all debtors are deadbeats. The meaning of the word debtor is "an entity or person that owes a debt to someone else". Wouldn't that be any person carrying a balance on a credit card or a mortgage or even a car payment? I'm pretty sure that statement is true. However, the way you write, sounds like you are calling anyone who owes money a "scumbag debtor". (perhaps English is your second language?) Or, is that term solely to be used for only those who can't afford to pay back what they owe? I am not in arrears for anything but, let me tell you, if I was, you can be sure that I would find my rent/mortgage and feeding my children far more important than paying back Mastercard. Somehow, staying alive and sheltered seem more important to me than lining the pockets of some fat-cat CEO of a multi-billion dollar corporation. So, I believe, that if someone can only afford $20 a month; isn't that better than nothing? At least they are showing you that they are willing to take care of it with what little they have. I don't know, maybe I just have more compassion for other people than some people do. Oh well...

dr jaun....i have no problem with people doing there job honestly and with integrity but how can you do your job honestly when you work for a low life company that has a F rating with the BBB,why do you get a F rating is because of all the violations your company caused.
i have a friend that works for a collection company and yes there is a lot of pressure for you to collect and in most cases the company says screw the fdcpa just get me my money and with your F rating i believe your company does the same thing...screw the fdcpa just get me my money.
