No debt collector has the authority to have anyone arrested for anything. In fact, the threat that "Mr. Wallace" made is itself is illegal. The Federal Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) forbids such threats.  The FDCPA also makes it illegal for a debt collector to disclose information about a consumer to a third party...even if the the third party is the consumer's mother. So your daughter has plenty of grounds to sue these crooks.  (If she wants to read more details about her rights in these matters, check out the FTC's summation of the Federal Debt Collection Practices Act at this link: http://ftc.gov/bcp/conline/pubs/credit/fdc.shtm )

I suggest your daughter file a complaint with both her state's attorney general and the Federal Trade Commission.  She can file the FTC complaint online here: https://rn.ftc.gov/pls/dod/wsolcq$.startup?Z_ORG_CODE=PU01  And she find her attorney general's contact info here: http://www.naag.org

And check out these websites for more information on stopping outlaw debt collectors and suing them:

I just received a call from Mr. Simon as well regarding my friend that must have used me as a reference. He stated he was "investigating case # ____" and I should do my friend a favor and have her call him. She only has until 1pm today (or what?). He also used the "Good Luck" line.

    it's serious but funny
Mr. France called around my whole office telling everyone he could speak to that he is ivestigating a case and I need to call him back immediately.  When I called back and ask for just a simple email or letter regarding the matter he doesn't respond but just gets nasty.  He threatens to persue other actions but he keeps calling my place of employment instead and said he could do this all day.  Well I have voice mail and sending his call to voice mail is something I can do all day.  I will be sending out the letter to cease and see what comes out of it.  I will also be emailing and faxing the coporate office. This is what you will find on their website:

If you have any questions about our privacy policy, you may write to Vice President of Compliance, ACE Cash Express, Inc., 1231 Greenway Drive Suite 600, Irving, TX 75038 or call 1-866-223-2274.

Will they send me a cease stop letter if I call them several times a day to get Mr. France to stop calling me?

I received several increasingly threatening calls from a "Mr. Wills" concerning an ACE account. He also made 2 calls to my workplace saying that I was under investigation, and pumping my supervisor for information. Around the eighth call, (9:30 P.M. !), I was ready for him.  After identifying myself, I asked "Just what do you predatory loan-sharks want now???!!!" I must have caught him off-guard, because he "lost it".He started yelling into the phone, telling me I don't know who i'm messing with , and I'd better get a good lawyer, and before I could respond, he hung up on ME !.  He never called back again......
Now I'm getting called by another company in Florida from 904-726-8505....

    Angry Sister
Fisrt I got a call from a lady.  Asking for my brother.  When I said he wasn't here and asked what their company was, she hung up on me.  I called back for a company name and was hung up on by a different employee, a male.  The third time I called back I got what sounded like the same guy pretending to be someone new...with complete discression as to the companys industry even!  Couldn't tell me if it was, financial, legal....they kept saying they were checking on a case FOR my brother.  They had names of both myself and my sister.  Her and I have separate last names and aren't on anything together.  If the "case study" for my brother and I say he will be unreachable for two years and you may loose contact....wouldn't you be eager to get details for staying in contact?  Sccccccaaaaaaammmmmmmmmyyyyyyyyyyyy

Here is a solution. Why don't you pay your bills! You know what you did when you took whatever you took without paying it back...you had no intentions too!!! you ask for this! It's called karma. you reap what you sow. so look deep inside yourselves and TAKE RESPONSIBILITY for once. you'll find you feel better about yourself, and sleep better as well. It's no one's fault but your own.

Recovery for A Cash Express.Looking for my daughter.  Had my number as a reference. When I told them to call this number which is the her lawyer's number. He asked who I was and I said her Mother. He got mad and said, Your daughter is a big girl she can make her own phone calls. And hung up on me.
They would not reanswer the phone when I call directly back to them.

    Mr Simon went too far
I got a call from "Mr. Simon" from 972-550-5069. He called on my line twice, never disclosed who he was, looking for phone numbers and names of managers of where I work.  Of course, me thinking it was a customer, gave him all information he requested. He called my boss, another manager and another manager from a different location saying he was conducting an investigation. He never told any manager he needed me to call back. So I had every manager asking me why was this person calling to my place of employment informing everyone I was under investigation. After several calls to every manager he called my phone & left a message. I called him back & he was verbally abusive, used profane language and threatended me with arrest and then hung up. I called back, of course nowhe wasn't in & left a message on his voice mail(name:Rionel Simon)and left the number to my attorney. I reported ACE to the FTC, sent another 2 certified "Cease & Desist" letters and sent them an email. I am fed up!

I had someone call my telephone number, becuase I was listed as a reference for someone..........she was not rude, but she did not give reference to a reason as to why she was calling.  She knew my friend's name, and insisted it was EXTREMELY URGENT that she call back.  My friend has a mother, who is very ill, and I was concerned it was in regards to that. If someone is going to call my phone, they should be required to identify themselves properly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
