Folks, I get calls from them about a debt from my marriage. I live in MA, and they do actually have lawyers who are barred in several states. I have gotten letters with the lawyers listed, they probably have a website too. The debt relief company I use is familiar with them, and says they work for 3-4 different credit card companies, not just Amex.
My concern is while they are a collection agency first, they do occasionally go to court (although my debt in dispute is pretty small so they probably won't) however if they do get a judgment against me they can "ask" a judge to garnish wages or put a lien on a house, but I don't see how this could cost me a job, unless I had lied about it previously.
Don't take my word, check out the Bud Hibbs website (the letter above does work), check out Zweicker's site, and check with your state or attorney. Being informed is your best defense against them!

THANKS for the tips, I just looked up the number before returning this call, and came on to this page! I have been gettting a lot of unavailable calls as well I never answer to. BUT I own no credit cards especially a American Exp. What do they want from me? Again THANKS for the tips!!!

i'm not a bill collector, please i have more education than those rude fools. sorry for wanting to help thoose that do not live in FL, SC, NC, PA, or TX ( where they can't touch you)i happen to live in ohio where they can do what they want to me.

also i do know the laws. i did file a do not contact and that is why they sued me, so maybe you are not a good bs detector.

This company called my parents and told them they were left as a reference for a job and then probed to find out where i currently worked and if they had a # for me... I am in the middle of Chapt 11 and they still call my parents.. This will escalate to a harassment law suit if it happens again.. Believe you me!!!!

They called my ex-husband, whom I have a rocky relationship with, about the debt telling him he was listed on my Amex card as a co-borrower.  They said Amex sent his name in the information they sent over.  I will be checking but as far as I know I don't recall him ever being listed on my Amex card and in any case, we've been divorced for almost 8 years and I know for a fact his name isn't on the card now. My ex-husband should never have even known my financial situation.

You either need to go back to school or get off the internet!

I have fun with these guys,  they call and hang up, or they call and play music,  its terribly random.  Usually I don't bother answering but the other day when they called I answered, left the phone off the hook and got the dog all riled up and barking so that all the person on the phone could hear was BARK BARK BARK.  I laughed so hard.  The things that really amuses me is that I probably do have a bill in collection with them,  I had a terrible house fire a few years back and keep finding random bills in collection - like $1.52 to the power company.  Seriously!  

But I tell them all the same thing,  send me a bill in the mail,  then I will pay you through my attorney - I even us a free public law agency to do this. They send the check on my behalf in their envelope.  The basis behind - if you get a fraudlent bill in the mail and send a check that they cash - they are then on the hook for mail fraud and let me tell you they have no interest.  Every single collection agency that has sent me a bill has been paid in full - the ones that refuse to send a bill through the mail - they have something to hide.  Don't let them fedex things to you it HAS to be be the US Mail.

If you're broke - go to public legal aid they will help you!  If you're not broke,  call a law firm on the phone, explain what is going on (clamly and professionally) and ask what they recommend.

called my pre paid phone and didn't leave a message when I didn't pick up.  I don't own an AMEX card...and my credit is phenominal...just had it checked with a refi.  Going to report it.

This number called and thank god that I did not answer the phone after reading these comments. Because the fact of the matter is that I do not even or ever had a Amex card.

i found that if u answer it but dont say anything it makes there bill go up so i get less calls i am unaware of any bill i owe and i will not get these calls any more. so just leave them on the line they will slow down on the calls.

I don't know the number, so I let the machine pick it up... message says  "this is for (name),... then says if this is not (name) disconnect or hang up,..." so I disconnect.  I have talked to them once about a yr. ago ...they are very rude...

this is an office and we don't want any soliciting call or any personal collection call.

I don't undestand why so many complaints here instead wrtting here call them a say nothing until they hung up or say anything you want like Fu!!!!!!

I just got a call from this place today.
Whenever someone gives me my full name or also my spouses.
I jsut tell them they have the wrong number and hang up

Since they will call back again. I am going to just put them on HOLD
and walk away or give the phone to my 3 yr old son so he can dial in their ear.

This outfit called again for the 200th time.  I have caller ID now so it doesn't bother that much.  However, I
think 200 calls should be called "Criminal Harassment".
I want everyone to know that they can't garnish a retirement check or dissability check.  They know that I am on a dissability, but they have called 200 times anyway.
They have never mailed me a bill--just call three or four times a week. Go figure.

i get call from this number on a regular basis. when i tell them that she no longer lives her they still call. i am to the point were i answer and set it on the table . it will make ther bill go up and stop calling i hope. thanks for all your help . oh yeah and wwhen i try to go there web page i cant bring it up. fraudulant or what.

This number just called my business and said they had the wrong number.  When I googled the number, I came across this site and realized it's the same company that has harrassed my husband whenever he answers.  He's told them repeatedly he is not that person, but they act like he's lying and continue to call. Very frustrating!

In case none of you debtors noticed AMEX, Bank of America, Discover, etc. have CONTRACTS with you for the debt you owe AS WELL AS the Law Office of Zwicker & Associates!!!  Zwicker is obviously not a scam if you use your common sense and realized that your credit card company has a contract with Zwicker because you are NOT PAYING THEM WHAT YOU OWE!!!  Therefore, if these credit card companies CANNOT get money from you they need to hire someone else who can get their money for them, since you cannot buy things in this world FOR FREE!!!
