first call, left no message.  we'll see!!!!

I'm 21 currently in school. I just received a missed call from this number on my cell phone.

The only known debt I have is a student loan with Sallie Mae for under 6,000 USD. I just contacted Sallie Mae and they said my payments do not start until 2010.

I am baffled why a collection agency is calling me.

The only other type of debt I had was a Bank of America credit card, which I payed off, canceled and cut up. I haven't received any paperwork from BoA in over a year, so I know that isn't the account in question.

After reading these comments, I am weary to call back. I will answer if they call again. But I will not give out my name or my social, and only ask for information linked to my phone number.

I have been getting threating phone calls from this agency for two months..

And they are looking for someone else.. yet continually call me.......

They are rude and refuse to take my phone number out of the file to stop calls....

Anyone know what can be done?

Here is something to take to the bank. A Charge off can only be applied to an account where a payments has not been made in 6 months. So if you are making payments and have proof, you can get Zwicker violation of FCRA. Also, what many people don't know is the company uses charge offs for tax write off purposes. Once, it's paid they have to re-report it the IRS as income. Almost always they don't. IRS violation. File a criminal report by calling the IRS, and use that number to send it to CRA's and they will remove your charge off ASAP. They have too.

YOUR TALKING ABOUT YOUR FEDERAL LOAN NOT YOUR PRIVATE STUDENT LOAN THERE ARE DIFFERENT TYPES OF STUDENT LOANS OUT THERE YOU MUST HAVE A DEFFERMENT OR FORBARRENCE ON YOUR FEDERAL LOAN PRIVATE LOANS YOU HAVE TO START PAYING BACK ASAP!

So, they called my ex-boyfriend. He thought maybe it was someone I might want to call and let know I moved. Turns out it is just debt collectors. I am with all of you. Send me something in the mail if you want results and I am happy to talk to you, work out some kind of agreement and make payments as possible. IN our weak economy, that as possible is hard to come by.

Those of you on here who either work for said agency or otherwise enjoy belittling other people and calling us all thieves because OUR Home and JOB situations Do not allow us to pay back our debts, Keep calling us THEIVES, but spell it right. I HOPE That somehow makes you feel better about yourselves.

I am tired of being called and not having messages left. IF you have a concern or reason to call me; give me your name, your number, and the purpose of your call. I will probably call back. NOT IDENTIFYING yourself on the other hand, means I will not call back.

THIRD, WRITE LETTERS TO THE MASS. ATTORNEY GENERAL AND FILE A COMPLAIN AGAINST THE COMPANY.

Do not talk about any debt just tell them they are harrassing you. They sometimes forward your information to them so dont say anything incriminating.

The Attorney general will ACT if there are enough complaints.

John Whalen and Chris Brown called me harrassing me and screaming, literally screaming at me about my credit card account from this number. They had me crying and scared to death.  I have been through you know what this year and so has my family, we have lost just about everything.  These people NEED TO BE STOPPED.  I am considering filing a harrassing law suit against these individuals myself.  It is an absolute shame that there are CRIMINALS OUT THERE LIKE THIS IN THIS DAY AND TIME.  And for the any company that uses them, God be with them. They are horrible human beings.

so you all run up debt, then try to get out of repaying what is fairly owed?  that is disgusting.  Have some self-respect. Its losers like you who got us in this national credit crisis in the first place.  then all you deadbeats try to squirm out of paying on your word.  get a life and quit being deadbeat losers.

2000? CHECK AND SEE WHAT THE STATUTE OF LIMITATIONS IN YOUR STATE ARE.
IF YOU HAVEN'T MADE A PAYMENT SINCE BEFORE THE LENGTH OF THE TIME IN YOUR STATE THEY CAN'T DO ANYTHING.
DON'T PAY ONE CENT UNTIL YOU FIND OUT WHAT THE TIME LIMIT IS BECAUSE IF YOU DO, THE TIME FOR THE LIMITATION STARTS ALL OVER AGAIN. IF IT'S A LARGER AMOUNT CONTACT AN ATTORNEY TO FIND OUT WHERE YOU STAND. IT IS WORTH THE INVESTMENT TO FIND OUT AND HAVE YOUR ATTORNEY SEND THEM A LETTER. REMEMBER THIS JERK WAS DISBARRED, SO HE HAS YO PAY ANOTHER LAWYER TO TAKE COURT ACTION.
