- Afaq Shah| 24 repliesA lady I believe she mentioned her name to be Ms.Gray was a very rude lady that called. This company has been calling me for the past year asking me for a payment in the $200 range. I do not owe this debt, they would not provide me any proof that they claim they have, I agreed to pay debt that I do owe after receiving proof. Ms.Gray however got very nasty and said I don't have the time to fax you proof, she said to me "you know you owe the debt, im looking at the proof" when I request for a copy of the proof she was looking at she got even angrier and said that she'll just mark that I refused to pay and will take legal actions against me, which would cause me more money. I understand that it is the right thing to do if you have been provided with proof and yet still refuse to pay, I however did not receive any proof and she is threating me to ruin my credit and told me to hire an attorney that will cost me more. Basically trying to put me in a situation where I had no choice but to pay, I still however did not and now will not pay for this because she was not only a very rude, lady but she expects to collect money from me without any proof. I also did research about this company and these guys approach people that do not even owe money and bother them.
These guys deserve to be placed out of business they believe their some gangsters that can go around pointing a legal gun at you and collect money.- Caller: McCarthy Burgess & Wolfe

- Answering SolutionsWe had what started out as an automated call with a synthesized voice saying that if I want to hold for the next available operator to press '1'. After pressing '1', I got another recording saying all representatives were busy. It was interrupted by a woman named 'Precious' asking for 'Accounts Payable'. Her extension is 2289. Although this was a call for one of our clients, I thought the area code looked odd, so I did a search and found all your comments. I will be letting our client know this is probably a false claim.

- James| 5 repliesI received an automated call from a company calling themselves, McCarthy, Burgess, & Wolf. I did not recognize this name or company so I did an internet search & found these postings. I do not have any unpaid, overdue debts so I have no idea why they are calling me.

- jellaif the debt is valid they must provide you proof or validtion of the debt, they are third party in order to collect they must also mailed you a letter to tell you that your debt has been sent to a collection agency
- RBWe received a call that went to our voicemail. When we listened to it , there were no names given, only a menacing voice demanding that we resolve some business issues with them. Then an automated voice came on and left a reference number. This was extremely vague and completely unprofessional. We responded to it and got their answering machine, to which we left a complete message. Not vague and unclear, not menacing, or with some joker trying to come off scary. No matter what the outcome, we will pursue action to stop these kind of tactics. As far as we know, we are in good standing with the few creditors we do deal with.

- maryThey are looking for a relative and because our last name is the same in the phone book, called here. They were calling about once a week with the automated request to call back about a business issue, now the past 3 days they have called once a day. I will be leaving them a VM after their business hours requesting they stop calling as the person is not here and I don't have any information for them. If that doesn't stop the calls I will call back & ask for a supervisor.

- Rusty ShacklefordI got a call from someone who claims her name is "Pat McNeil" who was very rude. It was about a debt for a company I used to work for that has since gone out of business she said in the most rude possible tone "You cant just start a business and not pay your debts -- Just go ask Enron" and hung up on me without even letting me explain anything.

- AnonymousI received a VM from a man from this agency. He left a really detailed message in regards to a collection that was owed. A lady in our area (whom I do not know) has been giving out our phone number as hers. This is the 5th collection agency we have gotten a call from. I called back and spoke with the collection agent and he immediately removed my phone number from the file. He said this kind of thing happens all the time. He was actually really nice.

- Not Going To Take It| 3 repliesVERY RUDE company. I have never received a letter from this company. (yes, I am delinquent on a bill that I assume they took over). Not once had I gotten a call, or even a letter. I answered the call and I was verbally attacked. They are they to collect a debt, yet this man was telling me what the story was and how pathetic I was. From threatening bodily harm, to coming to my house, having me arrested, having me live in a box, to other personal attacks such as not having my story straight, making fun of a stutter I had while trying to talk to him, to various other name calling.
I was not able to get a word in without him turning everything around on me.
What he has done was illegal and should not be accepted.
The original call was at extension #4356
I hung up and called a supervisor, Bruce Griffen, at extension #2332.
He told me that those tactics were ok to use.
I am surprised anyone would agree to settle a debt with them with the way they operate. I am going to take it an extra step further and see that these practices halt.- Caller: McCarthy, Burgess, and Wolf

- a former business owner| 3 repliesI had a bussiness which failed (went bankrupt)so I have had to deal with a number of organizations who wanted to collect money for leases etc. It took months to resolve the issues with the compainies involved.
Today I recieved multipal phone calls from Gus Perez of McCarthy, Burges & Wolfe (MBW). He was rude, arrogant, insulting, treating and refused to listen. WITHOUT QUESTION THIS WAS THE MOST OBNOXIOUS AND UNREASONABLE CALLER OF ANY COLLECTION COMPANY OR DEPARTMENT THAT I HAVE HAD THE MISFORTUNE TO DEAL WITH.
(The lease that he called about was resolved six months ago after numerious letters and phone calls to various departments of a major copy machine corp.)- Caller: McCarthy, Burges & Wolfe

- Jason replies to James| 3 repliesI recommend you call them and make sure there is not a valid debt. These companies do not waste money on phone calls to people whe do not owe.
- jason replies to Not Going To Take It| 1 replyLots of times it feels as though the situation is much more hostile than it actually is when you are on the defensive due to the debt. Try to recall how you entered the phone conversation and i would recommend trying to call the person back seeking a better outcome.
- jason replies to AmbernGeorgia| 3 repliesTry not to mix your personal affaris with your business dealing. When addressing your debts you should not factor in your loss of your child. Ministers and therapists are better suited to administer compassion and sympathy. Perhaps your naivety is setting you up for the emotional distress.
