Got a call from unknown number - man with a foreign voice. Asked how I was and I said fine. He said I am calling from Washington, D.C. Federal Building (something or other) and the government has $8,400 for you. I said "That's okay, I don't need it - I have lots of money. You keep it." Then I hung up. That was my fun thing for the day!
Ha ha that was perfect! everyone should say that .... or play the old song "mo money mo problems" .... remember that ? :)

I tried blocking the "Unavailable 1" with "000-000-0001" and "100-000-0000". Also, everyday I refresh Anonymous Call Rejection. After two months I am call free. . .so far. . so good. . . However, I am aware that nothing good lasts forever. . lol

I recently received an "unavailable" call allegedly from Dell from man with an Indian voice. He told me that they had found "five lines" going into my computer. I asked what kind of lines, he just said there were five of them and asked me to log into my computer for him. Immediately my red flags went up, and I said, "you just want control of my computer, don't you?". He replied, "no sir, we are legitimate". I replied, "okay, if you're legitimate, give me your 800 number and I'll call you back". He said, "okay, it's 1-800...[click!].
I'm still a little confused about something. He called on my cell phone, a number that I don't give out to many people. I use it for work sometimes, so maybe that's where he found it. Also, I do have a Dell computer...was he just guessing or did he have some way of knowing that? Just wondering. Anyway, keep an eye out of these guys--their spiel is very convincing to the unaware.

I keep getting calls from "Private" on my cell phone. My cell won't reject (it is a dumb phone) without a number so if I am in another room I have to go see who is calling and it is a pain even though I can reject if manually. Or I answer on my Bluetooth and get a scammer. Does anybody know how to block a "Private" number on a cell phone that is not a smart phone or am I just stuck with this problem?
I am getting up to 6 calls on my land line a day from Unavailable 1. My husband said "Answer one today." 8:30am: Hello Ms. Towlee, we are calling from the (talking very fast - call center - American Accents) Progressive Democratic blah, blah. Wait minute - slow down Anthony, you are from the Democratic Party? "No, we a progressive wing of..) I said you guys are calling me multiple times a day please stop.
Call 2, 8:45am: "Is the Ms Towle?" Hi I'm David and I'm calling from the (very fast - call center) Congressional Democratic Party and we want to get a head start on..." Stop, show down. I give regularly to the party locally and nationally, please stop calling.
You call your phone company, tech support and tell them you need to have the unavailable 1 block from your phone. I call ATT Uverse, talk to the tech support and within an hour they block the 1 on the my phone #. If you do not let your phone company know this is going on how can they fix it. Att Uverse is work on a program to block theses calls.

I keep getting calls on my land line from caller ID "unavailable", phone number is "1". Can't block them on my provider website because all blocking options require a 10 digit number to block calls. Called my provider directly, they can't help for the same reason. I answered the "unavailable" call once. Someone who was barely understandable with a thick accent of some sort, said something about government grants. Told him I wasn't interested and to stop calling. Ha. Whoever is calling me has put it on some automatic redial system. This past Saturday, it called every 6 minutes. No fooling. Of course I resorted to turning off my answering system and also the ringers. Started again this morning and stopped after 2 hours. I called the FCC to file a complaint. They have gotten lots of calls about this problem but the sneaky devils doing it have not been traced. Yet. The FCC is working on it. So, called the FTC to file a complaint. They haven't gotten many calls about this problem because most people call the FCC. Filed a complaint with FTC anyway. I mentioned contacting the FBI and they said that the FBI would turn it over to the FTC or the FCC so...

Got one yesterday 2 today. Wonder why none of these smart organizations can't stop them, or find them. That's a real mystery.

All calls no matter if showing private, unavailable, or showing a displayed number are the the same callers. If you're receiving debt collector calls it's a debt collector using deceptive tactics. If you're receiving Rachel, Carmen, no name calls it's still Rachel, Carmen, and no name calling. If you're receiving charity calls from the like's of AC Services and Safety Publications it's still AC Services and Safety Publications calling but using disguised and deceptive tactics to get you to answer the phone.
I received several calls with a caller ID 'Unavailable 1' and a heavily accented person told me that he was receiving signals from my computer. He told me to press the Windows flag and letter R on the keyboard. I don't know what that is supposed to do, but I did ask for his website. You know the response - MicroSystemTechnology which is a domain up for sale. He said he was located in Florida. There is no phone number, so I can't even report it to the FTC. I believe he wanted to take over my computer to steal my information, with which he would be disappointed.
Unavailable1 - still calling about 3X a day. I finally answered yesterday evening - "Mr. ans Mrs. Fick (husband's last name)" It was the same call center - very aggressive. I said "I no longer donate to the Democratic Party because of you, please stop calling!" Two calls today...

hi, I am for the last two weeks getting a call that at times just says on my caller id, "incoming, but no other information comes up on the caller id, if you do pick up, because at one time I did, I just heard static, but if you use # 69, the recording just says, call can not be identified.

Scammers use robo-dialers to dial hundreds of numbers either randomly or sequentially, without regard for type of line they're calling. It's unlikely that it was a personal attack on your phone number, but rather the (bad) luck of the draw. And it's easy to "guess" you might have a Dell computer. If you didn't you would know immediately that the caller was phishing.
I've gotten calls about my Bank of America account and my Wells Fargo account, neither of which I have. Obvious phisher looking for someone to hook.
If calls to your cell become troublesome, you can find a call blocker (for a smartphone, anyway) or set up a contact called SCAM or something similar, with a silent ringtone and assign that phone number to that contact.
