Calls from "Unavailable" or "Private"
- 14Truth| 1 replyPhone provider could do this just like I do with the free software I use with my built in or external modem.
It's just a simple matter of how they want to program it.
I have been using this over a yr ( I have no affiliations whatsoever with them) --
I'm passing this on because its been such a help to me - just hangs up automatically - even announces call and pops up on my screen if I want.....
its phonetray-free
free soft-Ware = phone tray free at [ phone tray dot com] phone tray is one word with no space between "phone"tray"
It can block any numbers of any length, even a "1" like "unavailable 1 "
or any name or use wild-cards like: 855-432-???? or 855-???-????
You can block a name without a number : like "Out Of Area" "Private number" -- anything u want!
or or a number without a name... any length - you can customize it even more if you go in to the standard excel file and edit it.
You can enter the numbers you so they become a a "white list" or "allow list"
or if you have a voice modem it will deliver any prerecorded message or "sound" noise from a [.wav] file
You can buy a cheap external usb voice modem [or internal PCIe] from $15 ~ $25 - search on-line for HIRO or other.
Some computers with sound cards already have a modem with sound capability built in.
I just used my old laptop with WINxp and builtin modem. - no sound works fine...
The best part is software is free and programmable. They also have a more powerful version for some cost... but I haven't needed it because I can set it to block any number at one ring [that's the only drawback] since it is not at the "PHONE COMPANY" switch level.. my computer must receive the call before it is blocked -- or allowed. - StephenHave been receiving calls from "NAME UNAVAILABLE 0" several times a week ... four rings, does not leave message, we do not answer, we are are on the DO NOT CALL LIST ... and cannot even make a complaint because there is not phone number listed. Assume it's a scam or some type of sales call. Enough already ... with these kinds of calls.

I got a call from this number six times in seven days. I finally decided on the last call to answer.
This is a scumbag alarm company who lies to you to get your business. It's a company called a ADTS out of Pensacola Florida.
Given the name, you would think this was ADT alarm company. It's not. What they have done is added the S behind ADT so they will come up at the top of the search engine list right behind ADT.
They call themselves Advanced Digital Advanced Technology Services. Very slick huh!! They have their own in-house telemarketing service. and Internet search of ADTS reveals numerous complaints about shady business practices of this company.
AVOID THEM AT ALL COST. - Tred replies to SamSam! Nice post! Yes, going against all conventional wisdom of not answering but asking for business identification, does at times provide results. You're correct they do have a less than professional less than ethical online presence. The main problem with companies like this is they're allowed to operate preying on the elderly, vulnerable and uninformed. Their BBB report is a good indicator also having their accreditation pulled. In-house telemarketing without a FL telemarketing license listed on their BBB report but they do make mention of the "advertising department." Sam, you may want to fire off a few complaints to state and federal consumer protection agencies as well as their BBB to expose their predatory behavior. http://www.bbb.org/northwestern-florida/busin ... ola-fl-18000661 Another disclosure method on a telemarketing / call center site like 800 notes is to make your complaint under their BBB primary phone number, (850) 477-5054
- Sam| 2 repliesHi Tred, since my post I have done some more research on this company and it appears that it has assets of over 10 million. With all the hundreds of complaints filed on this ripoff company it makes me wonder why the Florida attorney generals office has not gone after them. I suspect the "Florida good ole boy" principle is at work. What these jerks need is to be spotlighted and embarrassed for all to see like the [***] roaches they are.
Personally, I've had enough. It's obvious our government will not do anything to solve the problem other than a few token photo-op busts. But there are things that we as victims can do if we can get organized. I am considering building a website to do just that.
Do you think they would reconsider stopping the harassing telemarketing calls if people scheduled appointments only to let them show up and then cancel on the spot telling them because they broke the DNC law?
Unfortunately the phone numbers I have I was able to get by playing dumb (I even got the managers direct phone line). I haven't checked yet , but those numbers may or may not be listed on this site so an additional post may not work. - Tred replies to Sam| 1 replySam, I'm now confused of your intent. This is a complaint site for unknown and unwanted telemarketing calls and their owners. You identified a company that uses deceptive and unfair business practices. Now you need to make your complaint under phone numbers associated with that business. Yes, state and federal consumer protection agencies are slow to react from a personal perspective but they do react when enough complaints and supporting evidence gathered from consumers are collected. Tell state and federal consumer protection agencies what you found out through personal contact about their deceptive and unfair business practices. Am sure the Fl Attorney General's office will accept your complaint and findings.
- Sam replies to TredSorry for the confusion. I guess I'm like most people. It's so frustrating that all we can do is complain but never see anything done about it. That's the reason many people feel it's worthless to file a DNC report.
At any rate, 800notes is one of the most valuable information sources on the net. - JanI received another call a short time ago, from unavailable unknown number, I receive several of these calls on a daily basis..............no one ever leaves a message!!!
- JanThe second call today , so far, from unavailable unknown number......I do not, and will not answer these sttupid calls!!!!
- Do Not Fear replies to Didn't get a chance to scam meYou can hang up on ANYONE you like. I doubt it is even an offense to hang up on someone saying they are law enforcement due to the fact there is no way to verify that they are telling the truth. So, hang up and do not worry.
If ever in doubt, use the Internet to research such claims made by these bogus callers. You can only end up in court or under arrest after papers have been served. You are not notified of such things via phone call because there has to be a paper trail. - JanThird call today from unavailable, unknown number........no message as usual!!
- JanFourth call today, from unavailable, unknown number.............absolutely crazy!!!!!
- JanThis is about the fourth or fifth call today from unavailable unknown number........I guess these people have nothing better to do!!
- JanAgain, another call from unavailable unknown number..........this time i picked up the phone, and someone that could not pronounce my name answered. When I asked to have my name removed , from the calling list, they hung up the phone!!!!!
- Tiredof RobocallsCaller ID and call block are my weapons of choice. The call block feature on my Panasonic phone activates a busy signal to the caller once I've added a number. I've had several nuisance callers give up on us because of this feature. I do appreciate all that post here because I often to check numbers here to make sure I don't block a legit call.
