I too get this call which shows up on CID at "Private Name" "Private Number". I let it go to my voicemail but it never leaves a message. You can keep calling until your brains dribble out your brain pan, I am not going to answer!

I think most phone companies give you the ability to block these calls, under names like "Anonymous Call Rejection".

Unavailable 1 called me. I answered. Guy said he was with the National Firefighters Association - knew my name and asked if they could count on my support. Told them NO! When he asked why I wouldn't want to help, I told him because any organization that feels the need to hide their caller ID and never leave a message, doesn't deserve a donation. I asked why couldn't they leave a message and a legitimate number, that way if I or others were interested could call back. He said because they get more donations by talking directly to the person. I told him I only do local charities. He seemed agitated, so I said like I would give you a credit card # over the phone when you have no caller ID and legitimate number, please.....goodbye!
I couldn't agree more. I would even be skeptical if I received a call from a familiar organization. I say this simply because too many operations spoof their caller id information and I am not going to take a risk of donating to a con artist. I would much rather donate directly through their known website.

Got a call for "Unavailable 1" but my phone never rang. I have a Panasonic phone system and I programmed it not to ring for "Unknown" calls. Obviously, my phone recognized "Unavailable 1" as being "Unknown". Anything without a proper listing on my caller id, would be "Unknown" I guess. I even programmed my phone not to ring even once. You can turn that (optional) 1 ring off (which I did). Neatest thing is that the "Unknown" call doesn't go against the amount of numbers i can manually program. It does it all by itself. Sweet. Best investment I've ever made. I'm living in peace and quiet, finally! For a while there, I was really getting freaked out by all the scam calls. Thank you Panasonic!
It's time Congress had the courage to make laws forbidding companies from calling a number at random to seek business from the called party. Or call from a purchased list. You must have a suitable relationship with this company for them to call you. They can spam you by mail or email but not by phone. It is time this ended.

Unavailable 1 keeps calling my Home Phone, up to 4 x daily, every day, and never leaves a Voice Message. Sort of odd how my Caller ID say Out of Area, but online with AT&T U-verse it says "Unavailable" with just the number 1. Was unable to block this #1 with AT&T U-verse, but was able to Block 'Out of Area" or "Private" calls using my Panasonic Phone. Now I only get one ring, then they are cut off. I have no idea, who this person is, or why they call x 4 daily. Since I was able to block Out of Area, their calls have decrease to just 1 or 2 daily.

I can't be of much help here. But I"m reporting that I just received a call from "Unavailable 1". My phone didn't ring, but it lit up like it was going to ring. (I have Panasonic phones, too, and they always light up for incoming calls). Maybe nomorobo caught it. ??? I have no idea who it was. I can only assume it was a scammer being that the phone number was hidden from my Caller ID. I'm always suspicious (and rightly so) of calls like this.
I too hate the telemarketing calls. I get the same calls mentioned above. I use a call block device that only blocks real phone numbers, some are spoofed or masked, not real numbers, so when you block that spoofed number, you haven't really blocked anything. When I'm feeling like playing around with them, I will answer.....SHERIFF'S DEPT, how may I direct your call? They hang up quickly, and I get my laugh. I have Panasonic phones also, didn't know about the blocking it can do other than manually inserting, thanks to some people telling about their blocking procedures I will give it a try. By the way, I've reported numbers and messages to the federal communications dept, they took my info and thanked me, but told me there wasn't much that could be done. However they are trying and any info is taken seriously.
