They are international calls meaning scammers. They left me messages recorded ones that once I call i have to give my social security number. If I don't call back they will have a warrant for my arrest. U can't call the number back if u tried. Just BE careful and don't answer them.

I began recieving calls from +011 afer I had been contacted from someone posing as one of my friends on facebook that was telling me about recieving a grant if I txted (978) 533-7196 here is what they texted back. 1/2 My Name is Agent James from the Federal Government Agency we have to know if you are here to get your grant so that we can show you what grants are 2/2 available and how to apply.Right from the start you can tell this is a scam. So I went back to facebook and asked them a question of which myself and the real person would only know the answer to. No more messages from my so called friends profile and no more texts from that number. Today however I get a call from +011 did not answer will not take calls from strange or unlisted #s

I haven't gotten any that have the prefix +011, but I've gotten a LOT recently that say "11" for the prefix.  Needless to say I don't answer calls when I don't recognize the number.  But seriously?  When I looked up what the prefix means, it's a call coming from somewhere overseas!  Or at least pretending to be one.  Okay, seriously, I DO know a guy who was working a few years ago at McMurdo Station in Antarctica.  But NOT well enough for him to have our phone number.  And my husband's niece did take a trip to Ghana a number of years ago....  Oh, and my parents went on a trip to Iceland in the 1990s....  Most recent one of these calls came in last week and the caller ID said "Potential Scam" (yah think?).  Clearly whoever is behind calls like these are bucking to be in the next edition of _America's Stupidest Criminals_ (betting they think getting a "Darwin Award" would be cool, too... because they have the collective IQ of a dead cactus).

Just received a local call, when I answered it stated that my number had been successfully added, then a girl with English accent said hello and hung up. When I called back, my phone listed the local # and 011/ Australia, my call would not go thru, I received a msg stating that my acct does not allow these type of calls. I'm worried that I have been scammed for someone to charge calls on my account. BEWARE these scumbags are getting worse!!!

They think we are the dumb ones but they should get a real job & stop trying to make $ off of the hard working people, I just feel bad that they may take advantage of an elderly person who has limited funds and can fall for a scam. The govt. should really shut ( or try to ) them down. If one goes to a federal prison & made an example of for fraud the others will stop !!

If people didn't commit crimes because other people were made examples of, there wouldn't be any crime.

Interestingly, 011 is the exit code one uses as a prefix for dialing a number outside (internationally) of the US number. The format is usually 011 + country code + area code + phone number. Looks like someone overseas failed spoofing a number a “local” number registered in the US.
