i got a phone call from 011 , i picked up and no one answered on the other side . so i hung up.. 2 days later i got a call from the same number again. this time i picked up and again no one was speaking on the other side. Only this time i did not hang up.. Then after a few seconds suddenly i heard noise which sounded fake . it sounded like someone was trying to imitate a busy call center but it sounded like a busy atmosphere noise running in loop .. then a guy spoke in clear indian accent that he was calling from remit2india.com and wanted to talk to someone by the name priti .. i told him no one by that name lives here .. after that he hung up.. i will post more info if they call back.
PLEASE READ THIS SO YOU WILL UNDERSTAND WHAT IS HAPPENING:
Here is a quick lesson in telephony. When you set up a VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) trunk to use in making phone calls, there are a number of things which must be configured. One of those fields is the CNUM/CID (Caller ID) string. There are really no limits on what values you place in this field.
Whatever value you assign shows up on the caller id display of those who you call.
You can enter a partial number, a country code, a random string of numbers, your next door neighbor's phone number, the phone number for the White House, the phone number of a pay phone in Paris. It really does not matter what you put in there, it will be sent to whoever you call.
This means that Country Codes, Area Codes, Phone Numbers, or anything else which shows up on your caller id is COMPLETELY MEANINGLESS.
So, when you say that this or that spoofed number is anyone in particular, or anywhere in particular, you are simply wrong. There is no way to associate any spoofed number with any caller, and certain spoofs are common. "0000" "001" are both common, as are "1111111111" "0000000000" and "1234567890".
But far more common is the spoofing of a legitimate number, often victimizing an innocent business or individual by making it look like they are responsible for the abusive calls.
So please folks, realize that caller id is not a reliable source for identifying callers. For most consumers, it is all there is, but technology has made it a crippled method. For those who have access to ANI (Automatic Number Identification), a technology which does not depend on caller ID, more reliable data is available, but that is a business technology, not generally available to consumers.
I strongly suggest fighting fire with fire. Many VOIP providers offer effective call filtering technology, as does the free of charge Google Voice service. Using either of these can eventually reduce your junk phone calls to zero.

I have received various calls from an Indian man who calls from different area codes regarding payday loans. I briefly investigated payday loans online but did not sign for one. I have been receiving 10 or more calls a day. Some of the calls come with the code 011 052 which is supposedly Barbados. Whenever I answer, it is the same Indian male voice trying to finalize a payday loan with me. I have stopped answering any calls from unfamiliar area codes. They do not leave messages.
they called me 5 times today and never said anything at all

Received a call from 011 that my Bank Manager has forwarded my details regarding overpaid overdraft charges and miss sold PPI's. Asked me to confirm my date of Birth, I said I'd sooner not do that and then they hung up on me.... Maybe we're all not as stupid as they may think!

Thank you for posting "lone stranger" what a great telefone lesson shared...!
As for the +011 number calling, I have been receiving calls with this identified number ever since I called iYogi for tech support regarding my laptop in early August. Interestingly enough every day for the past several weeks now, I get calls from their "legitimate" number 877-687-6011 during the mid-day and as I look at my caller ID +011 is calling me every half hour in between times when 877-687-6011 calls me. Unfortunately for them, during the day I don't have access to my cell so I witness the calls in the early evening and never once do they leave a message. I just blocked 877-687-6011 from dialing me for the next 90 days...with my carrier but that's the best I can do... Somehow I think there is a link between iYogi (877-687-6011) and this +011. iYogi is based in India and they get VERY pushy for you to purchase steep extended Tech Support membership fees 6+ months in advance (before renewal is up)... I wouldn't be surprised if these calls weren't a punishement for resisting their pushy sales technique... Just a thought... I just note that I have no other "India" connection with any vendor except iYogi.
