" 404" area code fraud scams / scam texts / fake calls

Thanks Vic for the info. I just got call from "Restricted" number. We talked for a minute and he told me he was fromPublisher's Clearing House. I hung up. He called back twice and the second time he left a 404-963-0799. Naturally I did not call him back. I think I am ok or he wouldn't have tried to call me back and tellmeto call. Be careful!

My God, Mary, you do know by now that this is/was a scam, right?  Right?!   Never, never, ever, EVER give out ANY personally identifiable information to ANYONE that you do not know personally (and even then I'd be suspect) over the phone!!  Or in text or email, too for that matter.  I hope and pray you did not become a victim of a scam, a fraud or anything else.

Do i need to worry if I get texts from a 404 area code in response to my Craigs list posts. I just delete them, i do not reply.

I've had 404 405 9111 calling me all morning. I answered and it paused and a woman said my name and I said you have the wrong number.

I just got a call from a 404 455 9111 number and when I called back it just said the number is not in service can anyone help me with this is this a scam

Gosh, if there was only an easy way for you and Nikki to get together on some website and attach your comments to that specific phone number, then maybe others who get calls using that number would join in, and everyone could be better informed without having to root through any messy "area code scam" topic. Even better if there was a handy search function on every single page. Boy, wouldn't that be the cat's per-jammies!

I guess for now this fifteen page thread on something called "Eight Hundred Notes" will have to do until someone takes up my swell idea.

I texted my sister and the number said it was from 404-307-0489 on her phone u am so confused

I received a call to my cell from 404-458-1185, claiming to be the claim office of Publishers Clearing house. Smelled phishy to me.

What a revelation!  I've been getting constant phone calls from this area code on my cell phone...not on my home phone..(for the moment, anyway).   Had no idea who it was, and they don't leave voice mail, not to mention a reason for the constant calls.....as in multiple calls a day.

I've received the same scam call about getting sued from the IRS no previous letters or phone calls and it came from the 404 please people be careful first they asked me for $1,000 to stop a warrant when I told them I didn't have $1,000 they asked me for 200 if this was real do you really think they would drop that far that quick? BE CAREFUL!  Yes I'm yelling so everyone can hear me
