" 404" area code fraud scams / scam texts / fake calls
- Michael replies to ChrisChris, I sense your frustration. However, factually, what you're experiencing is a series of robocalls. Those calls could be about all sorts of scams, but all of them do not come from area code 404. Most likely, you answered one of the calls and that caller's computer 'tagged' your number for more calls. And, if you answer one of those calls, the cycle will repeat. My suggestion is that you contact your carrier and see what options you have to block incoming calls. You could buy a phone that has call blocking features, and it's not expensive. If you're interested, you could keep a list of dates, times and phone numbers that are calling with scams or offers and take it to your local phone company. Some of them will arrange to block calls for you from your list.

- MikeHuntleton replies to MarieSo, what is the point of your post, other than fantasizing about exploding spoofer's phones and putting on a display about making childish noises on your answering machine? It might have been useful to post ABOUT your call in the thread of the number your were called from and leave out the make-believe world stuff.

- Sarah replies to Ace DUmbrowskiThe IRS sends letters to collect, not phone calls. Any "IRS, we're going to sue you call" is a scam.
