Keep getting home improvement scam calls. Decided to have a little fun with one of them.

The kind that would destroy their own hearing while doing nothing to the person on the other end?

Why didn't you just hang up in the first place instead of damaging your own hearing? Or better yet, just don't answer calls from unknown phone numbers when at all possible.

Hey Big. I wanted to let you know I checked into what's required to be able to file in Federal Court. I'm saddened to admit that it is way over my head.  This is from trying to get the info from books on the issue. They're aren't any classes near me to take on the subject. I did however converse with two non lawyers who do take these cases to the Feds on their own. So it looks like it can be done but, like I say....blah.  PIty though, the financial payback through the Fed courts appears to be substantially better and one should be able to deal with judges who understand the purpose of statutory damages.  I got a sc case next week. If it goes south maybe I'll try a little harder.

Am. Home Improvement from India trying to set up free "local" estimates.  Want to make them crazy after they tell you about their roofs, doors, windows & floors they will ask which is your priority?  Tell them you need a new driveway as they don't do driveways.  I keep asking him for only that for almost 20 minutes without laughing.  He finally hung up me.  I mean really he asked me for what I needed!

The calls may be from India, but I believe they are being directly paid by US companies for doing this. From the ones I've gotten, both Modernize and HomeAdvisors.com have paid these people to telemarket my DNC number for my "lead".

Do not believe that nothing can be done against these foreign telemarketing companies. Most of them are working directly on behalf of US companies which something can be done. Answer, interrogate, report, and sue - any and all options you are comfortable with doing. These US companies can only keep doing this as long as their relationship with these foreign telemarketing companies isn't revealed and action taken.

I agree to whatever they offer and give them a BS address. They call a couple times a week and STILL haven’t caught on.

The "Home Improvement & Remodeling Group" call center which funneled leads to Modernize and HomeAdvisor traced to a Pakistani call center. Their new name appears to be "General Contractor's Network," as their scripts are very similar.

I have gotten numerous calls from these morons over the past two days. I've reported them to the DNC FTC and so far nothing.  They just keep calling. I think on the next one I'm going to give the phone to my husband.  A good cussing ought to stop them from ever calling back.  I'm also getting a better call blocker on my phone and if I have to I'll go through and have the  phone company block the numbers.  The Do Not Call Registry doesn't work, never has never will.  It only works for the legit telemarketers it don't work for the scammers and nothing ever gets done to stop them either.  And scammers is all these Home Improvement people are.

Knowing that is the first step to stopping them. They can't scam people who know they are attempting to scam them.

I can tell you what does work but I doubt you will do it.  You find out who they are and then you sue them for TCPA violations, at least $500 per violation per call.  Puts a huge dent in their revenue stream.

More recently the HI & RG has been funneling leads to Networx[dot]com and Powered by Pros [Woodland Hills, CA, San Fernando Valley area of the City of Los Angeles].
