This is an obvious shill....Level 3 Communications does not cater to the general public so there's no way this post could be true. Here is a list of their services at the official L3C website:  http://www.level3.com/en/products/

Jesus H Christ people. Level 3 is the largest backbone provider of internet services in the world. They are in the data moving business. One of their smaller sidelines is VoIP. If you're getting calls from Level 3 numbers, it AIN'T Level 3 calling you! It's one of their customers. They don't screen every Tom, Dick and Harry that goes to their website and buys a VoIP account. Why should they? Please, leave it alone. If you're ignorant enough to think Level3 is a bad company, go pound sand in Iraq.

I spent several years as a regular poster on this site.  A hand injury made posting difficult for a while, but when I recovered from that I ultimately decided not to return to the site.  I am making this post today simply because this thread is a perfect example of why I chose not to return.  When I saw that this hoary old Level 3 thread is still getting the same sort of silly posts from people who can't read or think, well, unfortunately, that is the essence of far too much of the traffic here, and the reason I decided that what I was accomplishing here was increasing frustration on my part, and very little else.

To those old timers who are still fighting the good fight here, my hat is off to you, you are better men and women than I.  To those who said kind things at the time of my injury a belated but heartfelt thanks.

To those who come here to learn, the answers to nearly every question asked daily is already here, but in spite of that, there are many knowledgable users who will patiently answer you anyway.

To the steady influx of loudmouth know nothings who really don't want to be bothered with the facts, I have nothing to say because I know you aren't listening.

To those who I may have been to rough on, my apologies.

As for the rest of you, I miss the discussions, and tormenting the occasional tele-predator. I do occasionally look in on the site to see if there is anything new or novel.  Some of you I would have liked to met in real life, but that is the way of the Internet.

And no, I don't plan on a return to the site.  Take care one and all.  Life is a long and sometimes difficult journey.  Make the most of it.

Lone Stranger, in case you do check back, please know that many here miss your words of wisdom.  I am sure I speak for many when I express relief that you are ok.  We were worried when you didn't come back after your injury.  I totally understand your point of view, even while at the same time wishing you'd reconsider.  I wish you all the best.

Thanks, you are kind.  I just don't think I had anything new left to contribute, and my frustrations were coloring some of my responses too much.  Besides, how many times can you post a link to the FDCPA, FCRA, TCPA, etc.,.?  ; )

In my humble opinion, your post will be needed by all of the newbies forever. There a lot of people to still need your help, so just hang in there and never give up.

I can honestly say that when I first came to this web site, I learned a lot from both you and Res47.  I am so glad to hear that you are doing well, but I will say that you have been sorely missed.  I for one feel that there is a huge hole in this web site since you haven't been posting.  I can understand your frustration in the way this web site has gone though, and respect your decision.  Just remember that there are many people here who have learned from you, and that we will certainly miss you, as we have missed you during your absence.

I'm glad you're doing a lot better - your absence had many of us worried.  Your contributions to this site are missed, LS!

I too have learned a lot from this site and have always read your posts with enthusiasm. Your knowledge on the various subjects coupled with your writing style has often inspired me to try and contribute something worthwhile here.

It seems many of the recent visitors are in too much of a hurry to tap 800Notes resources via a simple search; and, instead, just post a new topic on an old subject.

The repetitive posts and the bad-mouthing that have become more prevalent this past year have caused me to step away too. But I still view the forums regularly and applaud those regulars here that continue to help people plagued by tele-scum.

I wish the site were redesigned to present the information not only by phone number and forum topic, but organized in a way similar to a Craig’s List-style drill-down and search. People are familiar with navigating that type of interface and find 800Notes unfamiliar and hard to use.

My best regards to you in your various endeavors that I will assume involve helping others in some way as you have always done here.

It is nice to see you post again, even if it is a short one.    I do agree with your evaluation of what the site has become.  That is very unfortunate!!

And yes, I'm sure we all understand why you haven't returned after recovering from your hand injury too! Totally understandable. In our own ways there have been times where some of us have found we had to step back and, even though temporarily, it has helped. But do fully understand your reasons for deciding not too!

There have been times, as of late, where things just seemed out of control!

And I also share the same sentiment as those of us here who have expressed since your last post… you, your wisdom (and even wit ;)) have been missed here!

I'm glad you posted, I know some of the members here have missed you and wondered what happened and if you where ok or not! :)   I think you have put a lot of minds at ease now!
