- Kollette| 1 replyWow this is pretty serious isn't it. I have just been hanging up on them when they start talking about whatever it is they are talking about. Well now I know what they are talking about and I have NEVER gotten a payday loan so that is why I guess I #1cant understand them because of the accent #2 like I said have NEVER gotten a payday loan let alone I'm just wondering wtf is a payday loan? So I might as well get a lawyer NOW so she can take care of this CRAP and nip it in the bud NOW before it gets messy right?
- B-Edwards replies to KolletteSo you have had calls from who exactly? Do you have the phone number of whoever has been calling you? If so, you can do a search on this site and see what people have to say. So put off the legal minds and with a phone number in hand, you stand a good chance of getting info that will be of use, and if you have questions, post them in the thread belonging to that saintly phone number, and you may be surprised how people will chime in with tips and advice.
This whole post has been zooming around the fringes of our solar system for while now, and due to compounded misunderstandings, is not doing anyone much good. - scared ole fool replies to Tamianth| 1 replyI just got a terrible call . collections of payday loan. threats of arrested, suit, someone at my door..

The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.
According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.
The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim’s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims’ relatives, friends, and employers.

- sinceyouasked replies to mmmdonuts| 4 repliesYes we do. They are allowing telemarketing lowlifes to use their company for illegal purposes. They are not doing a proper job of monitoring their clients or taking appropriate action when these illegal activities are brought to their attention.
- Yoda1725 replies to sinceyouaskedIt's not the job of the carrier to monitor what their customers do. Private industry does not have police powers.
- TheHolyHandGrenadeThat's right. Same thing for those scammers marking their address on a letter head or what-not, yet it's box in a UPS store. However, running the scam out of a USPS post office box is considered a federal offense. Then again so is a paper boy who might place a the news paper in one's mail box.
- BigA replies to sinceyouaskedI thought that i had seen a forum article where level 3 was instrumental in helping to take down a scammer. Guess we can throw your theory out the window with the bath water.

When was the last time anyone had a welcomed call from Level 3?
Will grandpa or cousin Jimbo ever call you from Level 3, or will it be scores of unwanted junk calls?
Just because LS said something does not mean everybody has to agree. This is a bad company. It does not belong in the same category as AT&T or Verizon. Of course they will make a big show of exposing one or two scammers. So what?
If Level 3 has no idea what their service is being used for they are the stupidest people on earth.
The only people who like Level 3 are telemarketers. 2+2 - And replies to Somesome of the posters here such as you, are full of untreated fertilizer spreading rumors and myth.

Yes. Level 3 is my family's carrier. Friends and relatives call me using Level 3 numbers all the time. It is a great network and so wonderful. Level 3 really cares for the community and has deep concern for the general public's desire to not be bothered by telemarketer calls. Just call Level 3 and tell them to remove you from their client's calling lists. Your safety and convenience is important to Level 3.
