I got the same thing.  Voice said, "sorry, wrong number" and hung up.  At some point I'll look for anti-call-spam software.  Someone is phishing to build a list of active phone numbers that people pick up.

I think it is a Demon Dialer either looking for fax machines or modems.  When it "hears" a voice and not a carrier signal, it says "wrong number".

Received call from 000-000-1111 at 7:30 p.m.  Computer voice said, "Sorry, wrong number."  Since my husband is overseas and I'm alone in a very rural forest setting, this call was quite disturbing.  It helps that this appears to be a widespread problem, but I'm still locking and loading tonight!

Got the call in Columbus OH on land-line at 7:57 AM - recorded woman's voice saying "Sorry - wrong number"  Caller ID said 000-000-1111

Same as everyone else, I think I've gotten maybe four or five of these this past week, but I've gotten them last month as well and the phone bill looks ok so far.  I don't think it is skype, I hae Skype Out and use it for my LD calls and when I call someone, my name does come up in their caller ID.  Not sure about computer calls as I don't call from the computer any longer.
We have AT&T land line and Verizon Cell.  So far I haven't had any of these to my Verizon phone, only the land line.
Someone needs to catch these idiots and put them to work cleaning along the highways or something!

Yes, this does seem odd. wonder if anyone could collect data together,  such as time of call, initials and state. somethings funky about this. I got that call on tuesday  as well. has to be some type of pattern going on. somebody needs to look into this.

Call came in at about 3:30 p.m. today.  No message left on answering machine.  We are on both state and federal DNC lists.

Received this call at 8:45 am 13 Nov in NY on landline.  I did not answer.  My phone (Panasonic KX-TGA740) allows me to save the number to a "block" list that will intercept future incoming calls from that number and not let them ring through.  This way I don't need the government or the phone company to prevent future calls from this number.  The feature works especially well during election season when it can be used to block incoming campaign fundraising and electioneering calls that don't get filtered by do--not-call lists

XD I'm scared.

Called at 8 am this morning.  Hung up when answering maching picked up.  This is weird so many people are getting this call.  Hope someone figures out exactly what is going on with it.  Can't be good.

Just received call tonight on my landline.  Did not answer when I saw the strange number on caller id.  I've been receiving a lot of calls recently to home number and text messages on my cell. I am reporting all to DONOTCALL registry.

The caller ID had this number on it.  Glad I decided not to answer it!

Called by 000-000-1111 and got sorry wrong number, must be a moron kid

Got a call from this number on Sat night around 7:30 pm. Very weird. Called it back and got a "cant be completed as dialed" message. Going to block it now.

Got a call like this at work, on the business line. The woman said "Sorry, wrong number" but she didn't sound like a recording to me, she sounded like a 1920's telephone switchboard operator. It was around 11:00 am.

Nov 14 @ 6:23PM.  on my unlisted home phone: "Sorry wrong number," was the pre-recorded message just as many of you have said!

Jacksonville, Florida - Just got a call from 000-000-1111 on my cell @ 6:46 EST but was on the other line and didn't switch over...

Received call from 000-000-1111 on Sunday night around 7:30pm and electronic female voice said Sorry wrong number.  LAN Verizon number
