its Google calling spoke to them today

Have received several calls from this number. The fellow says he is  from Microsoft and there is a problem with my computer. They then try to direct you to do various things to the computer that will give them remote access to it. I hang up on them.

just received a call - pause - 'hello?' - 'is this [my name]? (Indian male voice)' - yes - 'this is the service department of Windows Microsoft' ... I've heard this scam before ... told him I'm not interested and hung up.

I believe they probably want you to go to a website and click on a link which will download remote access software so they can control your PC remotely and steal your details, or possibly lock your computer and demand a ransom to unlock it.  Either way - a known dodgy scam - hang up on them.

someone called at 12:15 am and I was not able to answer it but I can retrieve my last caller number and it was 0011-976-000 , I called it back and it says , the number is incomplete so not sure why they would call me in the middle od the nigth, very strange.

im in sydney and i received a phone call 2am this morning from this number 0011976000. the first call i answered, they hung up. 2nd call the lady spoke with an indian accent - she says hello then hangs up. my phone rings again for the 3rd time, this time she actually says the muslim greeting asalam alaikum, then she hangs up again. i go back to bed, then 6am my phone rings again, i answered and same thing again she says asalam alaikum and when i say to her, hello - who are you, she hangs up again. this is so bloody annoying.

Dude you left a message here about 0011976000 in 2009 and you are from Western Australia? Strange, because I am here in Melbourne and today is Wednesday 1 May 2012 and I have been receiving calls from the same phone number. No one answer they just hung up the phone about 5 seconds later, there is only background noise. Whoever those paranoids are they have to be the Chinese Spy Agency trying to Spy on the people of Australia or some Telemarket must be really Rich to pay all those phone calls that they are making. I know this may look like a "Telemarketer" but because you left a message in 2009 and I am in 2012 it has to be the Chinese the ones who are making those strange calls, I do not think that a Telemarketer has that much money to pay all those phones calls Bills going around Australia all those years. Strange because last year China asked the Australian Government to give to them the Land of Darwin to bring 400.000.000 million Chinese but the Australian Government said NO. The USA have their Nuclear Submarines and USA Military Bases in Darwin but the Chinese asked the Australian Government again on February this year to give Darwin to them. Those Chinese really want the land of Darwin because they want the Austraian Uranium Mines to build Nuclear Bombs to NUKE the USA because the USA said that they cannot pay the money that they have Borrowed. [***] the Chinese they will never get to have Darwin.

some bugger calling my office from 0011976000 today, they tried 5-6 times but they dont a thing!

I received a call from this number, I am in Melbs.

Dude goes 'Michael Warren, Id like to speak to the property owner.'

I say 'What for? Who do you represent?'

He says: 'Id like to speak to the property owner.'

I say: 'Right, but who are you?'

He SHOUTS: 'MICHAEL WARREN I WANT TO SPEAK TO THE PROPERTY OWNER!!!'.

Then hangs up!

I was like, whaaaat the [***]?

Very odd. Who ever he was id love to kick him in the face.

1100 976 000 - Is most commonly used by the people purporting to be from "The Windows" support team.. I know when they are going to call me so I get ready for them.

Firstly, My Fax Machine rings - of course I am not going to get a fax..... Within 2 minutes, the home phone rings, I answer and lo and behold it "Dale from Bombay in Sydney or Patrick from Mumbai in Victoria" or who ever they say they are......

I am listed in the White Pages... Fax number first and home number second... These super geniuses from "The Windows" are just trolling the White Pages, hence why they know your name.... (Don't be so paranoid people)....

Any Who.... Just tag the buggers along, play with them and waste their time. The last one I got I played for 15 minutes pretending to do as he asked and then told him that I don't have the internet as I get all my information from books....

Another time I told them I was a registered sex offender (which I'm Not) and that I was not allowed a computer so they must be wrong..... and my favorite was when I told them I was very hard of hearing and they would have to yell down the phone line so I could hear them..... That was so so so funny to hear this barely understandable accent screaming down the phone line......

I'm getting calls from this number in Victoria in 2012 also :/ it's ridiculous, it's late at night and I have a young baby sleeping in the next room and these idiots keep calling!

had the same phone call from the same number and it sounded like an asian lady, weird then I called the number back, and the number is 0011976000

yeah, i'm in melbourne and i've actually spoked to these losers. they claim to be calling from some microsoft sub-company and want remote access to my pc in order to "fix" it. the guy i spoke to said my pc was flagged as being riddled with trojans, virus's, god knows what...and was "interfacing inappropriately with other pc's". I just told them to get lost and hung up (that's the polite version i'll say here anyway). They keep calling though and i know heaps of people that they're telling the same lies to. I spoke to an IT expert about it and he said they want remote access in order to get passwords, bank account details etc...
I don't know how to stop them, but if i find a way, i'll post it here

my brother does that. you're right it is funny. he tells them if they can guess what number he's thinking of then he'll talk to them. obviously they never guess the "right" number

I got a call from this number.  Some dude called 'David' and he knew my name which was creepy.  But he sounded like he had rung from and Indian call centre and when I said hang on I just gotta finish talking to someone and brb'd my friend on the net he hung up or something.  Which is good cos I could not understand what he was saying.  Glad I found this site.  Wont' bother calling back.

Got a call from 0011 976000 on May 29 2012. The guy called himself 'Rahul' and was an Indian and spoke in English first and then in Hindi when he realised he was calling an Indian. When I hung up on him, he called again and spoke in Hindi this time. He was abusive and said he knew where I live, and would come and rape and kill me.

My mrs just received a call from this number.  The guy on the other end said he was from microsoft windows support. Sounds like it's one of those scams.

I received two calls from this number today on my office extension number! I didn't answer the calls because of the strange number but I believe they must be getting the numbers from people we have dealt with on the Internet as that's the only time I've given out my number. Next time I'll pick up and do what Rossco did! Love it - made me cry laughing! Thanks Rossco - you are too funny!

It's a scammer, claims to be from windows and tells you you have a problem with your computer tell them to get a life and if the call back you will call the police and they usually hang up they are scum trying to take people's money, they get a piece of my mind when they contact my home

It's the first time I received a call from this number, and it was when I was at work. First time I tried to google it as well to determine where the call is from. One of the post mentioned that this is a valid number which is displayed when somone is calling from overseas on a public phone. This is true/correct. My husband was in Madrid, and I am in Australia when he called, and this number 0011 976000 showed on the screen, but I was on another call at the time. Next he sent me an SMS to tell me he just called. I returned the mobile call and he told me he'll call me back on the public phone. When he did, this number showed up. So for those who have relatives based overseas, or just on holidays, you may wish to give them the benefit of the doubt, they might be in desperate need of your help.
