- Andrew| 3 repliesSo, I had been getting the calls and following these discussions. I didn't answer the "dog call" but did answer YES to the one if I was a registered voter. I have now been through a billing cycle since I answered and there are no extra charges on the phone bill.
So it looks like it wasn't a scam, and a lot of people were making silly guesses because it sounded like a scam that happened years ago.
But it is still a good lesson to learn. Always check your phone bill carefully for extra charges. On the first page of the bill it will break down charges into categories and show if there are any third-party phone charges. Also check the credit card records carefully for extra little 4.95 or other small charges. We all should be doing that anyway.- Call type: Political call
- word to the wise replies to Andrew| 2 repliesIf someone asks you if you are a registered voter, the best response is to HANG UP.
Will sheeple never learn??? - Andrew replies to word to the wise| 1 replyStop spreading that urban legend that third party phone scams try to record a yes answer. They don't work that way. Shame on you!!
- stop all phone surveys NOW replies to AndrewStop calling strangers.
STOP CALLING STRANGERS NOW.
Nobody wants your fukn calls. NOBODY WANTS YOU TO CALL THEM.
Now read it again until you understand. - AndrewRead my post, read it again and again until you understand. I am somebody who is being called NOT somebody making calls. Read it again until you understand.
I know you probably Googled on the internet and read this urban legend that people record "yes" answers, but that is not how third party billing scams work, its an incorrect rumor based on an old scam that happened a couple of decades ago.
Stop being foolish and spreading these lies while you pretend to be an expert.
The way to handle this is to not respond to any of their calls. In this case it was an advertising company with contracts to work for political yahoos. - anonymousI got a text message from this number that read....
"Please check your email to read an important message and confirm attendance. Please do not call this number, but you can send a text message."
I didn't have an e-mail, and I definitely didn't respond. They better not continue to text or I'll be sending their phone company a bill for the text messages. - Texasthis idiot sent me a text at 2:31am asking if my item on craigslist was still available, i never answered it
