- Shaun from Utah| 1 replySo this company (202-643-1993) is obviously trying to get a recording of your voice saying "yes" or "no" because they hang up after people answer the only "question" they have of "Survey 2010" or some such nonsense. The question they ask is, "Do you have a small dog?" DO NOT ANSWER, or if you do pick up the phone, DO NOT ANSWER THEIR QUESTION OR SPEAK AT ALL.
The Solution!
Many of us are on the DO NOT CALL REGISTRY. It is a $10,000.00 fine (and can be up to $250,000.00 fine per violation/call) for violating that list by making an unsolicited call to someone on it. Also, even if you are NOT on the DO NOT CALL REGISTRY, anyone who calls you with an automated recording (that you do not already do business with) can be reported. These guys, whoever they are, fit that bill. Chances are, the government can get to the bottom of who they are and if we all report their number as violating the DO NOT CALL REGISTRY, or FCC GUIDELINES, these people are going to learn in a hurry that crime most certainly does not pay! ; ) AT&T was recently levied a $780,000.00 fine for something like just 29 calls it made to people on that list. OUCH!
Click on this government link below to file your complaint! Or do a Google search for DO NOT CALL REGISTRY VIOLATION.

- hbjhbkRecently got 3 calls from them today... asked if we had a small dog. We hung up immediately. Good to know about this scam on this site. The next time they call, I plan to play a horrible screeching noise through my computer's speakers.

- TexasReceived a call from this number this afternoon; it went to voice mail. Glad I didn't pick up after reading the reports on this number. I have call block and was able to add this number to my call block service.
- Caller: Thnk Say Act 10
- In UtahI have got these calls too. If I get another call, I will answer yes. If a charge shows on my telephone bill, I will find out who the company is and what service I allegedly authorized. I make recordings of all my calls. When they provide the "authorization" it will tie the company to the calls. At that point you can prove that the call was not a survey, but a scam to get money from worthless service. And since they used your answer from the call to initiate business, it is a solicitation. I will then file a lawsuit based on the TCPA. (47 USC 227) for prerecorded call, calling someone on national do not call list, failure to provide a contact number (you have to be able to contact the company with it, and as has been the case, you cannot and the mailbox is full) I will ask for trebled damages for each violation as it is clear they know enough about the law to fake a survey. I will also include a claim for deceptive sales practice a state regulation at UCA 13-11-4 good for $2000 for each violation. With these violations each call could be worth over $6000 each. Report them to the FCC and your state's department of consumer protection. I've been unemployed for 8 years, but have paid my bills going after telemarketers.

I tried to call numbers very close to this number like instead of 1993, a 1994, or 1995 and maybe 1998 and like that to see if I have an answer back. I want to know who this number belongs to...
and why are they making this phonecalls...This is not a scam.. this is something more deep than that for sure..... - NikolaI received this call today from a machine but the number is the same 202-643-1993...asking if I have a small dog??? - kyle| 1 replyI got calls from this number (caller ID says "Think Act Say 10") yesterday afternoon and again this morning. I didn't answer, they left no message. Glad I saw this thread. I'll tell everyone in the house not to answer if it shows up again.
I called my phone provider (Qwest) to see if they could block the calls - they wanted to charge me $3/month for "call rejection", but couldn't guarantee that it would work! So I asked to be transferred to the department where I can report suspected telephone fraud - they suggested I call my attorney general. Doesn't sound to me like the phone companies take this kind of stuff very seriously...- Caller: Think Act Say 10
- James replies to kyleMy phone company sent out a flyer with our last phone bill notifying people about the numbers in question that ask this seemingly "innocent" question. Now they don't have this one since it apparently wasn't active at the time of our last phone bill however I have reported it to them and they are going to send another flyer out with the next bill.
Needless to say, my phone company acts, they can't block out the numbers completely however they are warning customers. - kyleNow THIS is weird... I just got ANOTHER call from this number, caller ID "Think Act Say 10". But this time I answered, planning NOT to say anything but "don't call me again".
To my surprise, no one asked if I had a little dog - it was a political recording from the "Family Research Council" urging me to call my congressman to protest some legislation. The phone number they gave for my congressman was legit, and the organization the message claimed to represent (frc.org) is an established conservative lobby with religious leanings.
Sure, I don't like the FRC calling me either, but it didn't sound like the scam I'm reading about on this thread. I wonder what's up?- Caller: Think Act Say 10

- wandaDoes any of you owe any credit card debt and haven't been able to pay due to unemployment or illness?
Well never acknowledge anything over the phone, simply hung up. There are new tactics out there by these creditors to trap you. If you don't recognize the number just don''t answer, if you have caller ID get it it will save your life.- Caller: who knows??
- cloverleafI'm in Omaha I too have got calls from this no. and I'm on the Do Not Call list. They asked me if I was a registered voter--of course I said yes. I don't have caller ID so *69. I'm going to warn the seniors I know then I'm calling the FCC no. for the Do Not Call list and the phone company. If anyone out there has any idea please reply to my note!!
