- Mister Bob| 1 replySo guys, I got a call from this number from a very unofficial person at "Amazon" asking about a purchaseI said not mine. She said ok I'll cancel. I said anything else? She said no and hung up. Very odd. So I then checked the bank and there was a pending charge with a legit store. The order included a virtual giftcard. I cancelled order, card and PP. This is what I think - I think this number was once an Amazon number and it's now being spoofed. Look at all the other posters that say it's legit. It's not. If they call double check PP and your cards.

- Miss Bobbett replies to Mister BobI just had another thought. i think some of the posters here that say it's legit might be a part of the scam. FYI

- verified Amazon customerI had a missed call from this number, 2065084014, so I searched it. I found this page and saw complaints and one verifying the number as liggit. However, I did not call the number back. I called Amazon and they could not verify the number as one of theirs. I was also informed that this number had been reported by several customers attempting to get information. This is a scam number! Beware

- Amazon UserI received three calls from this number today. The first two I picked up and muted my phone to listen. The first call I could heard a muffled conversation in a foreign language between the caller and another person in the background. The second I heard ambient noises. Following both calls, I immediately returned the call and received a message informing me, "The number you are dialing is not in service." So, I assumed them to be calls from scammers.
The third call went to voicemail. The caller said, "Hi I'm Ryan with amazon.com verification team. I'm calling with regards to an order placed on (date of order) using your new (name of financial institution) card ending with (last two digits). For security purposes we would like to verify the transaction with you at your earliest convenience please do call us back at 877-243-2913 and also will be calling you back shortly. So I request you to please answer the call thank you have a great day." He appeared to have a rather thick Indian accent.
The name of the financial institution and last two digits of my credit card were accurate. However, I had not placed an order and, as I confirmed online, none appeared on Amazon.com.
I believe this to be a hoax based on stolen data. They're phishing for information not obtained to complete their files for fraudulent purposes.- Caller: Amazon.com/Amazon

- SteveNumber is Amazon caller wanted to know if I ordered something with the last two numbers of my card I said no so she said she would cancel my order. Someone has gotten ahold of my number somehow

- Amazon UserI posted previously regarding this number on November 4, 2018.
Update: I had a fraudulent order placed through Amazon.com charged to one of my credit cards. I contacted Amazon.com and verified the phone number given in the scam call voicemail (877-243-2913) is NOT a number associated with Amazon.com. In fact, I was informed Amazon.com doesn't make phone calls regarding suspicious fraudulent activity. They make contact via email.
Amazon.com account has temporarily suspended my account, removed all attached credit cards, and will be contacting the shipping company to recall the order. The financial institution has flagged the credit card account as "invalid," and the charge will be reversed.- Caller: Amazon/Amazon.om

- Onto YouWe made a larger purchase last night and today we had a guy ... much like has been described in these emails ... he called my husband and spoke with him and my husband was onto him right away and when he asked the guy for a call back number or an email so he could verify him verifying us... the guy (midwestern sounding accent) said he couldn't provide that. So my husband refused to give him any information and the guy said he was going to cancel the order. Go ahead! LOL! I then signed onto Amazon and started a chat from the help menu and the guy verified that this was a fraudulent call.... to be exact he said... "In case that there is a malicious caller or there is a person who call's you pretending to be Amazon agent, tell them that you didn't request any call back since we are just calling you if there is a call back request." and... he gave me this information (which I couldn't find at the amazon site).... - M| 1 replySCAM. Didn’t answer the call. Message from heavily accented woman claiming to be from Amazon. Also received email from “address-verification@amazon.com” wanting confirmation of an order. Didn’t answer it. Got hit for 5 fraudulent charges over next 2 days.

- Tygerkat replies to fred| 1 replyIf it was really Amazon calling, why didn't they leave a message? A simple "Please call Amazon customer service regarding an order placed in your name" would go a long way toward people not thinking this is a scam call.

- SpudzI received a call yesterday and today from this number. The caller was a woman with a heavy accent and had me verify a purchase that I had made on the 6th. She knew the item I bought and the last 4 digits of my credit card. I told her that I did purchase the item and the call ended.
Then I called Amazon and told the rep this same story and they assured me it wasn't them and they thought that reply was sufficient. I kept on asking how this fake person would know these details about a purchase I just made and know the last 4 digits of my credit card. Next I requested to speak to her supervisor of which I did and after re-explaining everything she put me on hold and basically said there was nothing I could do and suggested I contact my credit card company to put a watch on my account.
So DO NOT listen to the other replies in this forum about this not being a scam or phishing attempt as it most certainly is!! Do not give out any information to these scumbags.
Don't forget that these same losers, that hack accounts and phish information also troll these forums. They use these forums as a barometer of sorts to see if their scams have to come to light and to lessen the fear by posting lies that there is nothing to worry about and everything is just fine.
Amazon doesn't make phone calls except for extreme cases, certainly not for verifying orders that are not out of the ordinary as far as a customer's buying habits go. Nor do they call from a spoofed and disconnected phone number.
Finally, a big middle finger goes out to the Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint and all the global telecommunications companies that allow any Joe-Blow to spoof a phone number with a $10 app off Google Play or Apple's whatever-it's-called store.- Caller: Fake Amazon

- JenThey just called my phone. I answered but didn't say anything. It was about a minute before they hung up....nobody on the other end of the line ever said anything. I was reading these replies as I answered it. I called the number back and the recording says the number is not in service.

- StevenContacted me with several calls in a row, waking me up in the middle of my sleep (around noon - I work third shift). Claimed to be from Amazon and was verifying a purchase of mine. The info he gave was correct, but it seemed a bit suspicious. Thankfully it seemed he couldn't understand me well, due to being half-asleep still, so he got basically no info from me.
Does seem like a scam number, though, so be careful.- Caller: Claimed to be from Amazon.
