- boo| 2 repliesLOL, just got a call from these people. thick indian accent (although he emphasized repeatedly that he was in NY) "I am calling today because we have had many complaints in the past few days from windows users that when they visit websites, download videos or check e-mails they have been downloading software unbeknownst to them and it installs itself onto their harddrive..." and blah blah blah... I said if this was a genuine alert from Microsoft that I will check microsoft's website for any alerts, and that I probably know more about computers than this guy (who sounded like he was reading a script, and was impossible to interrupt). I always feel bad for the people who were born yesterday and get taken really easily by these scams.

Man with thick indian/pakistani or some sort of turban wearing accent so i thought it was a telemarketer so i used a not so friendly voice, he said the call was in regards to my computer and i must be hard to understand cuz i had to repeat myself every time, he asked if i was the computer user in my house and i said sure then i asked what is this about and he just repeated it is about my computer, i replied 'so what is it then' in a somewhat raised voice and the [***] just hung up. - suzi replies to booyou mean its not for real???

- Lisa replies to JeffI got a call from this idiot too. Before your computer screen went blank with the white lettering....did you follow any of his requests to hold keys down or enter codes? Did he get access somehow to yours?
- WildoliveI also receive calls from this phone #. I don't answer calls I don't recognize, but I will return a call if they leave a message with a real phone # that I can check out. Unfortunately, calls like these usually wait till the answer machine/voice mail picks up to hang up. By the end of the day they have filled my answering machine with hang ups so that friends and family, etc. can't leave me a message. It is sad that we can't even block them. They just change the numbers they call from.

- TomSae as others - an incoming call this afternoon (4-11-2012). Same "accent" - most like from India - using a BS 212 area code number that is not a real number (212-000-3459). As with others posting here, calling that number shows it is not legit - nor connected with any business, etc.
THIS IS A SCAM - do NOT fall for it.- Caller: unknown

- LoeyGot the same call a while ago. Same accent, etc. I happened to be on my computer, but not online. He/she told me what to do as far as the whole logo/letter R thing. I told him I did what he asked and he asked me what was on the screen. I told him "server not found." He went nuts, then put his "technical" person on the phone. HE said I called THEM. Nuh,uh.

Dont give out your area code either or email. This guy also had a thick acccent.
The big kicker was when i asked price, and he asked "how much can you afford". Huge red flag.
Also Microsoft will NEVER call you to help you fix a problem you didnt know about. - dilldocThe caller I got sounded Nigerian. There was a lot of background noise like a "boiler room" brokerage operation. He said his company was One Stop Computer xxxxxxx. I told him I did have good experience with diagnostic software as it screwed up my Registry.
When I asked to have my number removed from his calling list, the line went dead .- Caller: One Stop Computer something

- hankisin| 1 replyI just told the guy to shove it up his [***] and he asked me to repeat it slower so I did and then he really got rude and I once again told him where to put it. I would love to know how to reach people like this so that I can call them and have some fun.
