While in the internet , 7/4/16 holiday, a site appeared, opening with an exclamation pt. inside a yellow triangle, repeating saying 'Warning' & to call Microsoft at a stated number for help because my computer was badly infected with malware, etc.  I heard of mail & phone computer scams, but not this & thought it was really from  Microsoft, so I called the number.  The man Brad Smith, Indian sounding, said it'd take 90 mins. to fix because me SOPHOS protection  I bought from STAPLES was 'too weak', and I need a 'stronger' one from MICROSOFT.  He said the 'lifelong'  fee was $4,00, but for seniors was $659.  I gave him my credit card inf. name, address, cd number after letting him into my computer,  However, when I saw him deleting my SOPHOS virs protection, I got worried & repeatedly told him to stop, and that I wanted to call MICROSOFT the next day to verify his legitimacy and I'd call him back is satisfied. He kept giving me a so-called 'legal' dept. to call, & I kept repeating, I 'd feel better if I looked up the number to M. myself to know that Microsoft sends their people to them.  He hung up and I had a very hard time getting into my computer. Ten min. later, he called back and repeatedly bragged that O had to 'buy' the program or I 'd never be able to use my computer.   Repeatedly, I told him to 'cancel' the order & take back 'everything he put on my computer.   For 3 days, my phone & answering machine kept ringing with 1-844-305-3520 BHRAT INFOL. On 7/6/16, after I received an email from  BRAD SMITH @ 1-844-305-3502, that I purchased the virus program for $699 with tax added in, I called, back, was connected to another Indian sounding guy Chris, who told me if I"d look at my email, he send a letter of 'cancellation' which I'd have to 'authorize'.  I looked, but no letter 'appeared',  When I told him, he changed his story, saying if I paid $300, he'd cancel the total $699 as a favor for a senior citizen because otherwise, I was 'stealing' the program.. When I again, told that I had 'repeatedly'  'CANCELLED it on 7/4/16, he said it was not on tape and the only thing they had on tape was my acceptance in buying it, but not my 'repeating over & over' not wanting it; cancelling it and wanting to wait till 7/5/16 to check with MICROPSOFT about his company working with MICROPSOF.    I told him that on 7/4/16; after I had told BRAD SMITH to cancel  & take off everything he had put on my computer;  &  I cancelled my credit card immediately after on 7/4/16, reported it to the CONSMER FRAUD dept. of the FBI who told me not to answer their calls because it was a scam.

Thank you for posting this - You will be helping people now and down the road.  This is an example of how these scam suck you in until it is very hard to find your way out.    Make sure you have your computer checked out and cleaned.

The very first event that got this started may have been a bit of malware that creates a "pop-up" message that tricks you into clicking on links to scam web sites.   The malware or pop-ups get tossed at you by websites you visit, sometimes without the websites knowing they are being exploited.  Best to you,  Stay Safe!
