- DebI didn't answer it, but came up as unknown name and phone 212-000-3459. Reading the other comments, I wish I'd answered, I could have had some fun! You would think after the invention of caller ID, they'd just save their time and energy.

- DinnerYep, same stuff here, called 06/21/2012 at 11:04 central time. My technologically impaired mom answered the phone, was put on guard, and asked me to confirm he was a phony... they aren't the most skillful scammers I'd ever seen. Told them I didn't want any and hung up.
Also, although these guys are clearly scum, I'm a little bit disappointed by the number of people on here that responded with racist measures, like asking him about his camel farming or calling his language a [***] language... I know you're all upset, I'm pretty pissed that he called my elderly parents, but there's really no need to be like that. - Pink ShoesJust received a call from this number at my work phone -- a law firm with an IT Department to provide assistance. I did not pick up the phone as I did not recognize the number. No one left a message on my voicemail. Apparently not THAT interested in helping me out. Scam
- Caller: "Unknown"
- JoeyThey were asking me the same questions here about my windows computer to press the windows key + control + some other key.
Could barely understand this guy sounded like he was in India. What exactly is their mission? - hornsfanCalled 6-16-2012 @ 10:29, left no message on working recorder. Sounds like I would have liked answering this one!
- Caller: Unknown Name
- BVSame call - turned the table and started asking how they have funding to support such a service and the gal got all confused. When I stated there is no windows machine in my house and how did you get my number she hung up.
- Caller: One Stop Esolutions (so she said)
- Jeff| 1 replyReceieved this call, in the same format as above- indian accent, claims to be Dominic from One Stop E-Solution, and that they have been hired to provide technical support for Windows operating systems, there have been reports of viruses in my area, and are calling to see if I have a computer.
When I say that it seems terrifically inefficient for Microsoft to hire a company to randomly call people to see if they happen to own computers that might have this specific virus, he responds that he provides services for Windows, not Microsoft.
My response: Wait, what company created Windows 7, and Vista and XP?
Answer: We are the provider of technical support services for Windows, not for Microsoft.
Just wow.
Eventually he realizes his mistake, and tells me Microsoft made the producsts, but didn't hire him. When I ask who in the world pays his company to randomly call people to do tech support for Microsoft products, he tells me that is confidential, LOL.
When I ask him to get the the part where he asks me to download a program that allows him access to my computer and ask for my credit card for good measure, he tells me that of COURSE he would not do that, then he starts asking me to open up the "RUN" dialogue box so he can start the process to do just that.
I decline, and ask him how much time he feels he wishes to waste with this (now 7 minutes into call).
He then tells me they are doing this out of their own generousity and concern (LOL), and he is calling because my computer is infected. I remind him that he originally said that computers in my AREA were infected, and he had to ask me if I even had a computer.
He responds that he has "checked," and he can tell my computer is infected.
I say "Oh No! what IP address does it show for the infected computer?"
"What? What do you mean?"
"The IP address. Surely if you just checked my computer online, you know the IP address of the computer you just checked."
"No, I do not have that."
"Ok, then, which operating system is the computer running? That would help me narrow it down."
"It is Windows XP, Vista, or Windows 7."
"You can't tell me the IP address or operating system of my computer that you just checked? Can you tell me anything about it?"
"It is about to crash because the virus has filled up the memory."
"Neat, and then you are going to tell me I can fix it by entering in the link to download remote access software?"
"No, I would NEVER do that. You just need to press the windows buttun and R, and enter in...."
"Has this been a profitable call for you? You've spent ten minutes with this, and are still banging on the f*&%ing door, but I'm good, because this just keeps you from talking with somebody that would actually fall for this S*&^."

Waste their time folks. Get them off-script- you don't understand why they are calling, how is it pofitable and efficient to do business like this, how many calls he's made today, where is he from again, what part of New York is that, who hires him, what they pay, does his company offer other technical support services that you could hire, maybe for your whole company?
The more time wasted, the less of a viable scam this is.
Do NOT give information, no matter how innocous. Just deflect. - DLGONZALPlease stop this number from entering my cell phone. Thank you

- AnnaSomeone just called me from 212-000-3459 with a heavy accent (female), could not understand one word she said. Hung up on her.
- AllyA person with a thick Indian accent just called me about 20 minutes ago, his name was supposedly "Peter". At the beginning of the call, he stated my mom's name (who bought the laptop) and told me that our Windows 7 pc's were infected with threats and malicious viruses because we had downloaded many things from the internet. At first I had believed him because we did download a lot of things from the internet, videos, songs, programs for my little brothers to play on & etc, and our pc was a little slow at times too. I am currently angry with myself for allowing myself to be fooled by this disgusting person. Since I had believed him, he asked me to log into one of our Windows 7 pc and we did the whole Run thing and entered in to see the Event Viewer on our pc. Then he proceeded on to directing me to a website and to click the Download button on that page. Luckily I had asked him what would happen if I clicked the Download button, He then told me that after clicking the Download button, a technician would be allowed into our computer and would help assist us in removing the viruses. I asked if there was a charge. The guy then said that there would be a charge. I asked if we would be charged as soon as we cllicked the download button, the guy replies that there is no charge AT ALL and that we will be given the option to be charged after the whole removing viruses thing is over. At the end he said, "So do I have your permission to do this?" I then began to suspect something and got freaked out, I'm only 17 and didn't want to take responsiblity for any scams that might take over our pc or any bills that we had to pay if we decided to do this. I stated that my sister was the owner of the pc and that I want to wait till my sister comes home from work to do this herself, finally the guy caved in and said he would call us later, he also told me to shut down our pc's because they can "crash at any moment". I am soooo glad I found all these complaints about what these [***] really are, I wish I had researched this earlier though, I'm afraid that someway somehow they could be accessing our pc's right now even though I never did click the Download button.

- JoOn 6/29/12 at 4:44PM I received a call displaying this "NAME NOT FOUND" 1-212-000-3459.
Decided to answer it anyway, a man with a very thick accent was speaking. I could barely understand what he was trying to say, recoqnized Windows & Microsoft. Told him I am on the DO NOT CALL REGISTRY and asked not to call my number again. He said he was not selling anything just trying to help with the Microsoft problems and gave me an 800 # to call back. I hung up.- Caller: NAME NOT FOUND
- TexYep, same deal as above; guy claims to be "Andrew", heavy Indian accent, starts telling me my computer's infected with viruses or something. I'm already on guard because 202-000-3459 is NOT a legitimate number. There are no legitimate numbers with a "000" prefix. Anyway, his phone was breaking up, and I couldn't understand him very well because he was talking fast, so I just tell him, "Sorry, but your phone's breaking up and the caller ID is weird, so bye" and hung up.
Now after coming here I wish I had messed with him for a few minutes. Like the guy above said, keep him talking to you so he can't harass someone else. It's like inviting Mormon missionaries in to debate their cult with you so they can't bother your neighbors.- Caller: Andrew from ???

- AnonymI got a call last night that he wanted to talk to me about my computer and I said I wasn't interested in doing a survey and then he said it wasn't about a survey but that my computer had a virus. I have virus protection on it and knew it was a scam and hung up. Glad I found this thread....gave me some good ideas for other scam calls. I love the FBI one!!
- Caller: unknown
- LilyFemale with heavy accent called and said "Hello" so I said hello. They said "Hello" again so I said "Hello" again. We did this several times before the idiot hung-up.
- Caller: Unknown
- BettyFemale with thick accent, could not understand what she was saying other than my computer had a virus and she was calling to help. So, I decided to play with the low-life scammer, because I had searced the telephone number and knew the scam In a very pathetic voice, I told her that it was not nice what she was trying to do. She denied that she was doing anything wrong. She became upset and hung-up on me, what a bottom feeder trying to destroy people's computers. Idiot!!
- LyndaGot a call today from a man with a thick accent telling me that my computer had a virus and it was submitting information across the internet.
I figured it was a scam and asked him how much it would cost me to fix it. He said it depended on how bad the virus was.
As asked for his company name and phone number and said I was going to report him. That didn't stop him and he said it was One stop Computer eSolutions and the nubmer was 888-458-9001. The number he called from was that 212-000-3459.
I kept telling him that this was BS and he kept insisting it was not and that I should follow his instructions to go into my computer to get it fixed.
I finally hung up on him.- Caller: One Stop eSolutions

- BeccaGot a call from this number about a half-hour ago. Let's go through the checklist, shall we?
Fraudulent incoming call number: check. (Dear St. Lili Marlene, how I despise that VoIP systems allow users to do this.)
Thick Indian subcontinental accent: check.
False American / British name given: check. (Really, if this guys name is "Mike Brown", then mine is Sita Kanulungpetal.)
Attempt at colloquial English as spoken by someone who doesn't have a good grasp of formal usage: check. ("I'm calling to help you with your computer, okay?")
Mumbled or otherwise unintelligible company name: check.
Clearly reading from a script: check. (Called me "sir", because, apparently only men are serious computer users. Never mind the fact that my speaking voice is anything but butch, and my singing voice is a solid lyric soprano.)
I hung up, after giving him a very firm no thank you.
When you consider all of the billions of dollars of damage that organizations like this do, between credit card fraud, outright identity theft, and computer crime (if you actually give them remote access, they can easily add your machine to a botnet), law enforcement should take it far more seriously. I know that they're hampered by issues of jurisdiction, but the big problem seems to be that, as crime goes, it's not splashy enough.- Caller: unknown (unintelligible)

- LCDI'm in the Twin Cities area. Got a call late yesterday afternoon from a man with a thick Indian accent. do not know if he gave a name or mentioned a company as I couldn't understand him. Gist of the call was that he wanted to check my computer for viruses so told me to go turn my computer on. When I told him I wouldn't be doing that, he got very frustrated, saying I didn't understand the seriousness of the situation. He assured me he was a legitimate business with a web site and a toll-free number!! After refusing his request a third time to turn my computer on I told him this call was over and I hung up.
