I got a similiar speech diabled excuse but more about wanting me to cash a large sum of money and money gram a delivery person.  Pretty much they wanted me to clean a dirty check and send the money to them.

I found this thread from searching Google for the Sterenberg guy. I too was offered that pc repair job last week, and received that same email and payment today from lisabrown. I received the e-mail minutes before the USPS guy arrived so I wasn't able to read all of it before answering the door, however, I saw $3450, and thought may be it was a mistake. But when I answered the door, and USPS man told me it would cost money for this package, I refused the package. I always thought the job was a little suspicious anyway.

So who is John Sterenberg? That isn't the scammer is it?

Linda Fariras is the name used on a listing in Columbus, Ohio, for a bicycle.  December 17, 2011, 2:39 AM.  That caught my attention.

Just wondering what other information you have on this person.  We recently received a check from this person asking us to send them money western union to that address.  Jody Constentino, Deerfield East Syracuse NY address.  Hoping that they haven't got anything from me besides my address.  Thanks!

This is a scam. This person's email ends in sify.com which is in India. Don't send them money. Don't reply or open any more emails from them it will just aggravate you. Delete them. Have a nice Christmas.

So glad I googled this number.  I got the same exact message when posting my vehicle for sale.  they just emailed it to me

Same story about being deaf and needing to send a bank certified check in response to my craigslist furniture ad.

ha.  identical email.

I was scammed and it started like this:

So, I took the check to my bank, it was for $2735, and they owed me $500. And my bank, Chase, says that the company that the check is cut from is based in Dubai, and the company has no known bank. It looks like a real check, with security ink, but it was printed on a home printer.

There are two shell companies on the check - Rowans Companies, and BBVA Bancomer SA- both out of Houston, Texas.

It's fake.

We were scammed by Jenny Garcia.   We also received an email for another item from

Mr. Johnson   johnsonfeg6@gmail.com.  

It's a similar circumstance where he wants to send a certified check for over the amount so we contact the movers.  Like Jenny Garcia, says he'd send extra to cover our time.  I'm sure it's the same kind of scam.  Look out for Mr. Johnson.

Selling a bike and this is what I got.

I got an email from Smetana0921@hotmail.com and yas19930816@hotmail.com about an ad I posted on Craigslist some time ago. That was the first ad and I did not use the hide option, which I have since to prevent lying deadbeats like this to contact me other than a telephone. The name used in both is Gerald Darr. I suspect it is not his name. His grammar was correct. He said he wanted two items I had listed and scheduled a time in both spams. When I replied what specific time to expect him and to call for directions, he never replied. The second email is likely his birthday, 1993.08.16, which makes him young. If that is the case, he has the mental capacity of a toddler. Since he never showed up, his email addresses have been put out. If you can dish it out, you will take it!
