To make sure that everything goes smoothly i would wait for the check to clear before the pickup is done, I would be responsible for the pickup and it would be done by the movers and their payment would be included in the check i mail to you and this is all due to my disability (am deaf) and it makes it hard for me deal with this and it makes the transaction better and quicker.

I know you were not expecting this and I would have loved to come for the viewing but i cant I really want it and am offering an extra $50 for you to delete the posting to show i want it as i am just settling into my new house i want good deals to furnish the apartment i stay in.

Scammers from India, Pakistan, and Africa often claim speech problems to avoid speaking to you, giving away their nationality.  The phone number they called from may be spoofed.  The number you are to call may be a US cell phone in use anywhere on earth.

The Overpayment Scam is rampant on Craigs List.  The way it works, someone from the far side of the US or from a foreign country offers to buy the item.  They send you a cashier's check for more than the sale price.  The buyer tells you to deposit the check then wire the extra to a shipper he has selected.  Your wired money clears instantly.  The buyer's check bounces.  Your bank makes you pay back the amount of the check plus a bounced check fee.  You never hear from the buyer again.  The buyer and the shipper share the shipping fee.

I suggest that anything you sell on Craigs List, you insist on the customer paying cash and picking up the merchandise at a parking lot near you.  Thats the best way to avoid the Overpayment Scam.

Just call 916-437-0495 and tell them to remove you from the list. You get a live person and it worked for me.

Benedict has posted this exact same message on several threads.  I think he's harvesting numbers to sell to telemarketers and scammers.  There is no way I would call that number.

I received very common text messages and e-mail from someone call Kelley Rowland, after posting some motorcycle pipes on craigslist, I almost fell for it but he e-mailed me telling me fed ex was dropping off the check and fed ex called me to let me know it was a scam, I then called tfc and reported him/her. I also send Kelley a e-mail that said I reported you and please do not contact me again, that was on Wednesday, I haven't heard from them since.  Today on Saturday, UPS dropped off an envelope with a check from Diamond Offshore Drilling, Inc. I had no idea why I was receiving it, I called State Bank Of Texas and it wasn't one of their account numbers, Crazy People!! I have also contacted the local police, these people NEED to be stopped.

Just received another email from her on yet another piece.  I don't have time and told her so, unfortunately while i was firing back a rude email I realized that now she has my email. ugh

I was contacted with this message from a Craigslist posting:

I would avoid anyone with this email.

when i googled the phone number i found this thread.....

I am dealing with "Carol" who says she is hearing impaired and wants to buy my item on craigslist. I have received a check for $2400 (of which I was to take $200 for my item plus $50 for my trouble).  The rest of the money was to have been sent via money gram to Alicia Tanksley in L.A.  Don't cash the check!!!  I told "Carol" that I have cashed the check and I will be happy to pay Alicia Tanksley in person when she stops by to pick up the item.  Right now, this idiot thinks I have $2150 in cash and is literally begging me to send her money.  The bank is probably going to notice that the ink on the check is all wrong (green in color) and the paper feels different.  Give the check to your bank (if they want to investigate) and save all correspondence with the scammer.  Forward this to your bank as well if they want to pursue it.  Otherwise, you could string them along like I am doing and pretend to be just about to send the money every time they ask for it.  At this point, I'm just satisfying my own desire for a little revenge.

My $2400 check came from Omega Protein with the name Rachael Thompson on it.  The lady wanting my $200 cabinet is "Carol" who wants me to send the money to Alicia Tanksley in L.A.  What?  I told "Carol" I cashed the check and as soon as Alicia Tanksley shows up at my house with a moving van I will gladly hand over the difference.

Just received and email from ga ja <nimonebjen@gmail.com>. It looked odd, so I googled it. Thanks for info, they are still playing the same game.

The name used in this scammer was Linda Fariras athe email used = "mistresslameh234@gmail.com" and her reply to my Craigslist Ad was the below B.S. story...I found these other complaints because she used this common phone number and I googled it and found others she was scamming so I'm posting my info so others may find her as well and not get taken...fortunately for me I found this before going any further so no harm done to me. Good Luck. I wish there was a way to hurt these folks legally.

I got the same thing from "jenneth micheal" about a bike I had

Same story as all of the above. "I am hearing impaired... bla bla bla" then I got a check for $2000 for a $600 bike.

I can't believe I fell for this! I just don't know if I should be concerned or not
