Polling firms that are legitimate can do cold calling

just because it's unsolicited doesn't mean they cant call you

the laws were set to keep calls from fake firms that just want to sell you something, this one is not selling anything

    yeah, answer the survey

People complain about things, but never try to make things better -- in the time it took you to come to this site & spew out the drivel about how awful your life is because someone called you, you could have done the survey

But I guess altho the universe is expanding, so is stupidity

do not call lists work on companies trying to sell you things

not legitimate surveys, like this one, or other polling firms  doing legitimate surveys

i know, you don't have time for surveys, that 3rd rerun of [***] is on and you just can't miss it, can you?

    How horrible!

a legitimate agency concerned about diseases is using a legitimate survey co. to get your opinon!

that is the worst thing to happen to anyone since the Holocaust, you should be entitled to damages of a gazillion dollars!

It's a legitimate call from a legitimate agency

the CDC is a gov't agency dealing w/ disease

NORC at the University of Chicago is a reputable agency

I took the survey, they didn't try to sell me anything

If you want to help out an agency dealing w/ diseases, then answer the survey

If you don't, then don't -- but the time it took you to look on here & complain about it w/o checking out the agencies when they called you, you'd be done w/ the survey

the CDC is a real gov't agency

NORC is a co. that's been working on these issues for at least 50 years

These people have continued to call even after I asked them to remove my name/number - 4 times in last 10 days.  Deployed in Europe so harassment because of time change means they call in middle of night

A woman called first suggesting  this was to  contact  bell phone customers . the call came in on a cell phone and She wanted to know about my land line answering tendencies.  She went on about a swine  flu survey which would take about 20 minutes. When I told her that I was a Physician with knowledge about  the flu, she did not miss a beat.  She stated her supervisor would be listening to the survey and my information would be protected.  I told her I was not going to provide any personal information and hung up.

I received the same call from "the CDC" on my cell, but I have AT&T; the lady talked way too fast to catch much but "CDC."  I interrupted her speil and told her to remove my # from their list.  If I hear from them again, I WILL file formal complaints with the CDC, AT&T, and whatever govt agencies I can find.
The number originates from Chicago, orginial carrier is AT&T, leading to our friend, Ameritech - and it is a land-line.

Thank you for taking the time to do research.  Everytime someone calls CDC-INFO about this survey they have not taken the time to find out WTF the damn survey is about.  If you'd just answer the questions, they'd quit calling.
Everyone wants the governement to have statistics and information, but they don't realize they way that information is collected is through reporting done by state and local health departments (VOLUNTARILY) and through these phone surveys.
Next time you need a health statistic, don't cry when CDC can't give it to you because you or your state did not provide it.
    BAM.
