No the problem is that Kitchen Carolina are a bunch of dishonest crooks, and hopefully every last one of them will see jail time.

Filing a claim against the homeowner won't work you were contracted by kitchen carolina NOT the home owners. The subs are getting ripped but NO WHERE near as bad as the home owners. I would love to see a sub try to file suit against a home owner who got ripped, sub standard work performed, seriously inconvenienced for MONTHS and DID NOT hire the subs. Stick to cabinets because the law apparently is not your forte.....

I bet you work for these scammers...probably know them personally... Heck with that comment you are probably on the take like our friend Rob... Kitchen Carolina IS a SCAM my kitchen still isnt finished so we are having it done ourselves. I feel sorry for all the subs who got ripped...I"m sorry i had no water stove refrigerator microwave sink dishwasher for 2 months!!! With a toddler and an eleven year old it has been tough. My wife and I had our attorney call them...No joy... We are filing a lawsuit against these con artists............

The homeowners paid for the "collateral" up front to kitchen Carolina not you...You are nothing but a sub contractor hired by KC to install product the homeowners already paid for... Home owners don't sweat this guy, HE is the one that needs to learn the law. Maybe i should look up some case law for this idiot... nah since he is attacking innocent people I will just let him spend his money to find out he is wrong...

The nightmare continues - the people at Kitchen Carolina created a credit card account with my wife's maiden name and charged $8000 to it, so that's $13K they have charged to credit card accounts made out in our name without our authorization. I guess their new thing is identity theft?

It is absolutely amazing how similar everyone's story is. If you make a post please put what city you are in so that other homeowners in your area can contact you. I am in Charlotte and have $20,000 fraudulantly charged to my GE Money account.

Lots of innocent homeowners. When is the Attorney Generals office going to get involved???

for the innocent homeowners,each and every person that came into your home to do work has a right to file a lien against your property if they did not get paid for the work that they did even if the did a bad job. This does not mean that they will win their case. It will mean that you have to prove otherwise.You will have to get a lawyer and they will have to subpoena any and all records from Kitchen Carolina concerning your job. There will be bank records that will show if a person got paid or not. Even if Kitchen Carolina burns to the ground and all records are lost your lawyer will get the records from the bank on any checks written to the guy that put the lien on your property. Each and every check has a customer name on it so there is proof. If it can be established that no payment was made then the claim is valid. Does that mean he wins ? nope he has to prove he did the work in a "workmanship like manner" and deserves to get paid. If you had to hire outside help to get the work done and your contractor had to fix anything of the the guy that filed the lien then he has some trouble on his hands,most likely will lose the case and have to pay for your lawyer for filing a frivolous lawsuit.
On the other hand if he wins you will have to pay him. If you don't then he has to sue you again to get the money and if he wins again he at least can get a judgment which will activate the lien in case of a future sale of the home.
If you got a loan to do all the work the loan guys a GE will give you nothing and can not be part of the proceedings. You may if you lose sue Kitchen Carolina but good luck with that one.
"let the buyer beware" if you thought the deal was to good to be true then you should have done more homework ,crossed the I's and dotted the T's.
Now if you did partial loan and partial cash deal and you still owe cash and your work aint done, you have every right to hire an independent contractor to finish the work and deduct that from what you owe as the final cost. Kitchen Carolina would then have to do the lien route with you. Good luck to Kitchen Carolina on that one.

As far as Mr. Selfors and the Missus are concerned- they got into this with good intentions. I don't know that for sure but since I know them both I will have to say I don't think they schemed to take peoples money in the end..it just ended up that way because they didn't know what they were doing. Unfortunately for them if the cant finish anything that was paid for either by cash or loan they have a problem. If it can be shown that they took money from the company to buy nice things for themselves or took large sums of money and did not perform and went on trips and bought house and stuff then fraud takes the front seat. If they just sucked at doing business and had to get money from a customer today to finish a job 2 months behind then they could be ruined financially for life. (although I think they will find a way around that).
There is a rumor of a new conference call tomorrow...cant wait.

 U r a smart person - i wish you can tell this to BRIAN 69 or at least i hope he is smart enough to read [ i wont think so]. Its all a long mess in court. The work i did was one of the best - so i know for a fact i will win. Sorry -- that will probly be one of my next steps.

heres an update...this is gonna be funny...on AOL.COM Kitchen Carolina is hiring installers...so i called Kitchen Carolina and asked about the job and Brian answered the phone and said "there is a hiring freeze right now,however the begginning of january they'll be hiring again after there old work is completed and new kitchens needs to be installed". Sounds to me like there getting ready to screw more home owners and installers.Sounds like a chapter 13 where they only clean up the monetary mess there in and get to start all over again. Marvin the inspector is still working there,they called him and said they need him to continue.Also i filed a claim against them in almanac court in Graham for whats owed me.
  you know the really sad thing is there are alot of people out of work and its christmas and Rob Selfors could careless.I do realize that alot of installers really sucked at there jobs and alot of customers are getting screwed. It is a fact that the customers are being charged in full up front before they even get a cabinet. I myself tried to do what was best for the customer, which is how it should be.Maybe  Rob Selfors needs to practice what he preaches and be a stand up guy and do the right things. Probably not gonna happen since hes left a paper trail of scams from a number of states.
  Homeowners get the attorney general involved. Contractors go to Almanac superior court and file a claim if your owed money.  peace out

These people have not gotten paid as well...Everyone was scammed!!!  Not just you!!!

Then where are they??  I can't even get a person to answer my calls or anything!  I am supposed to have my cabinets delivered and have no idea of what is going on!  If you work for them, help!

It's still Kitchen Carolina under this public notice.  Also a few other notes to help others out:

1. You don't need a dispute form from GE. That's a delay tactic so you don't put your dispute in writing till the time period is up.  Send a letter with all supporting documentation (like returned email, copy of the downed website etc.) to: GE Money Bank P.O. Box 981438, El Paso, TX 79998-1438, cc to the BBB of your local area (mine for Raleigh is BBB of East NC).

2. No contractor who did work on your home under Kitchen Carolina can put a lien on your home.  They have no contract with you.  The "Contractor Agreement" you signed was only with Kitchen Carolina.  The workers are subcontractors to them.  If any worker threatens to put a lien on your home, tell them to take a hike and get an attorney if necessary.  Do not be bullied by contractors.  Not that I don't feel for them, I do.  They've been screwed too, but that's not the homeowner's responsibility to correct.  

I'm "lucky" I guess, I found out about this mess when I didn't hear about my cabinet delivery so no work has begun.  The problem, of course, is dealing with GE Money and having a completely demo'd kitchen in preparation of a kitchen install that's never going to happen now.  Merry frickin' Christmas, right?
