- Susan| 1 replySo I get a call from this number and the person on the other line made it sound like the issue was URGENT. He didn't ask who I am and he made the call very scary. I know better b/c I work for a computer company. I spoke to this representative and he told me that I downloaded a malicious virus when he gave the name of my mother and not my household. When trying to delay this man and told him I need to call him back because I knew this man and number is up to NO GOOD. He gave me this number "213 674 8586". I then called him back from my work number which is an 800 call center and he started doing the same thing w/o even asking who I am and verifying who I am. When I questioned behind his actions, he said that i was calling an unknown number and he will sue me and call the police department. WTF? EVERYONE BE CAREFUL THESE GUYS ARE SCAMMING AND TRYING TO HARM FOLKS. ALSO YOU CANNOT FILE A STUPID COMPLAINT ON THE NATIONAL DO NOT CALL LIST BECAUSE THIS NUMBER HAS NOT BEEN REGISTERED FOR 31 DAYS. 402-875-9195...PLEASE CALL 213 674 8586 and ASK FOR MR JOHN AND PROSECUTE HIM!!!!!! The ring will dial more than 5 times so be patient and the [***] of a man will pick up!!!

- Eener AtreborI just got a call from this number and it was on the CID as NELNET. I did a search and wiki and othersites say it is a student loan company. I just did my FAFSA yesterday to see if I qualify for school money in the form of grants and/or loans. Has anyone done this recently and gotten a call like this? What happened was exactly as stated by others on this site. I hung up on them after the hard to understand man would not take no for an answer. LOL

- Pam in MontrealSame deal as others reported...he said that he was from "Windows" (not Microsoft) and said that viruses were being loaded onto my computer fro the Internet. I told him my computer was off. He said turn it on. I said I don't trust who you are and he said then hang up and the phone went dead.
- Violet AThese nutwipes called me yesterday. The Caller ID: Computer Help. I answered, but nobody was on the line. These idjits like to waste our time because they make money doing their scams. You would think that they'd get a couple of brain cells going and find something legit to do, but the truth is-- most of them probably enjoy doing the scamming. When you add to that how they get the chance to be hateful, rude, etc., how can that kind of person possibly resist. Stealing your ID, passwords, money, etc. is just icing on the cake for them. I am on the Do Not Call List, but that doesn't seem to be any real help. I have reported the calls to anyone that will listen, but get no results. At least, I get to vent on this website. Maybe one day.....

- jaderunnerGot a call last night. Phone id said COMPUTER HELP. I am a cyber security specialist and am wise to this phishing techniques. The female on the phone said she was with WINDOWS service in a heavy Indian like accent. I said there is no such thing as a company called windows service and surprisingly she hung up. I was very curious about the phishing technique they were deploying but did not get a chance to sample the goods.

- Nancy| 1 replyOh here we go again, the scam from India or wherever, trying to get remote access to your computer. Thought they would stop calling me when I laughed at them and told them I use an iPad only now. No such luck. Called on a Saturday afternoon, using the Caller Id telnet. From working in engineering, I full well know what telnet is. And it's not a company.

- ChristineCaller with a thick accent said he was from Windows 7 Control and needed to get on my computer because it had had a lot of unauthorized things downloaded onto it. Well, ha ha. Don't have a PC, have a MAC. Told him I knew he was a scam!
- Boomer BabeGot a call from this number just now. The caller ID said "computer help" which anyone would recognize as b.s. Everyone should know by now if you don't recognize the caller's number, or name, DO NOT pick it up. If it's a genuine call, they'll leave a message. If they don't, that's fine too.

- CH-Con| 1 replyThey have reached Switzerland!! Just got a call in Switzerland from this number ... and let him believe that I did enter EVENTVWR as requested. Then simply hang up. They called immediately again twice, but I did not answer. I could see the phone number and the caller said he would work for a 'Windows Service Center'.

- r&dSam, with a heavy Indian accent, just called and said there were issues with windows 7 on my computer. I asked him--which one? There are 6 in the house. All are working normally and protected by Norton 360. He wanted me to go to the computer and he would tell me what to do to see what was wrong. I told him I would have my son, who handles the computer "issues" in the house call him back, but he said he was calling through the internet so there was no call back number. I asked him how he got my phone number and he said it was part of the info I gave when I bought the computer. He said he would call back at 7 pm to talk to my son, and NOT to use any of the computers until then. Ha! Still thinking of what I will do if and when he calls back.

- sherriemMy spreadsheet is growing by leaps & bounds. All of the incoming numbers I don't recognize are relegated to it. This is the first time I've had a call from Nelnet, but, since I don't know area code 402 or Nelnet, I didn't answer. Stayed on line long enough to register as message and heard a whole lot of background noise, obviously boilerroom type call, but no actual message left.
