i called this same 402-9357733 and when you choose the option "unknown charge", the automated system talks for a whiiiiiiile but you can just interrupt by saying "agent" and they will transfer you to a real person. i managed to talk to an agent... twice. It is a paypal number.

The funny thing with my story is that I saw a "LIVEPERSON 4029357733 CA" and I was of course WTFing all over the place like all of you. I called to get a refund and they did file for an investigation and reversal of transaction for me. As soon as I hang, my sister tells me she's the one who use the Liveperson thing. I KNOW RIGHT?!!! I won't even discuss how upset i was with her. Anyway, got over it really quickly and called again to cancel the investigation.

I just bought something from ebay not to long ago....like 2-3 days ago and a charge says 51.99$ same as the price on the item i bought.....but on the statement online in my account history it says....*YSYA4158 402-935-7733 CA

Never had a Call from the number, checked my bank account online and found out funds had been removed via Pay pal with this number listed with the transaction. Odd thing is I do not now or have ever had a Pay pal account.

I called the Pay pal 1-888 number and after trying to navigate their sh1tty menus and then speaking to someone who maybe has English as a fourteenth or fifteenth language I got sent through to their account security department and the charges are now being disputed and should be returned soon.(the charge was for a cell phone unlocking feature allowing a set networks phone to operate on any network)
I never tried calling this number at any point however.
I also had charges with the following number attached to them : 814-949-3303
Which turns out to be a correctional facility so will be contacting them soon aswell seeing if they have any idea of what their inmates are upto.

Got a call from this number: 402-935-7733 at 2 am in the morning. Had my son check out the number and found it is a PAY PAL phone number which we do not have. Called back the number and got automated message asking for the last digits of SS#. Quickly hung up for I knew this must be a scam.

Four (4) bogus transactions were charged to me from this number.

I did not get a call but I did make a purchase of a pair of shoes from a website that I thought was legitimate.  The charge for $88.00 (which was the price for the shoes) appeared on my Visa card with the name PAYPAL *MAJORSOFTON - 32993436744029357733.  That wasn't the name of the company that I THOUGHT I ordered the shoes from.  I did not received the shoes for a week and sent an email asking for a tracking number. I DID received an email back in very broken English asking for my patience as the shoes are very popular and it will take a little while to get them.  I believe the email came from Asia.  Anyway, to shorten the story, after several emails and they kept putting me off, the last one I sent was 2 weeks ago and I have not heard back.  When I tried to call the number it said it was an international call.  I have filed a dispute with my credit card and I HOPE to get the money back.  In addition, I recently had to cancel my credit card because there were 5 fraudulent charges.  I didn't associate this charge with the fraudulent charges, but they could be related.

402-935-7733 This is, honestly, a valid PayPal Bank outbound account verification line used to verify account information by legitimate PayPal employees, i.e., as part of the online automated dispute or supsected fraud/ID Theft verification process. It is the real deal.

I had two charges on my account that indicated PayPal but had astericks and a wierd code and the number 402-935-7733. I did a Google search, found this forum and decided to call PayPal direct. As their website does not list a toll free #, I did another Google search and found one (888-221-1161). Paypal's website gave me a web ID, which I gave to the agent and she pulled up my account and verified my information. I asked her about the charges and the phone number. She told me the # WAS a PayPal number and she was able to find the two charges. They were actually done by my husband using his Visa card via PayPal. We have two separate PayPal accounts and she had to reference all the emails we have that are no connected to PayPal accounts.

So - in conclusion, the phone number is legitimate and the qustioned charges ended up being legitimate, as well, which I verified with my husband when i called him to verify.

Also, I believe it is common for "financial institutions" to ask for the last four of your social as an identifying tool. My banks do it whenever I call them. Cox Communications asks for the primary account holders last four digits, as well. They can't really do anything with the last four. People need the whole thing to do any damage.

It's true.  This is definitely a real Pay Pal number.  I called Paypal and asked to get connected from their call center overseas to the security department in the States.
I got a great woman on the phone who verified that this number is indeed an automated Pay Pal number.
Further, she told me that they are verifying many donations due to the large volume of donations they have been handling because of the recent disaster in Haiti.

Our credit card received a Dec 7 2009 transaction through PayPal for icompany for $499.  Yep, no
icompany!  Credit card company has removed the charged amount, and is researching with PayPal.
PayPal may be convenient and legitimate, but we will not be using them for anything.

I just got a charge to my checking account for $50!  I haven't made a purchase with my card since February 8th.  And it wasn't through Paypal.  I'm sending in an investigation form to my bank.

I got a call from 402-935-7733 and it seemed legit. I made a purchase online using paypal and within a few minutes I received a call from 402-935-7733 from a man asking to verify if the purchase was real. the only asked 2 questions, "did you recently make a purchase?" and "roughly what was the purchase amount?" They didnt ask for a credit card or even my full name or any personal information. Just if I made a purchase and for how much. So the number seems real to  me.

Have a charge from POS DEBIT PAYPAL *BEATPORT 4029357733 NE for $153 and change. It shows up in my paypal account as well. I order things all the time, but not this. I never order music online. Called the company and they have an option for unauthorized credit card charges. Asked to leave a message. What is this? It seems that paypal knows what is going on, but won't do anything about it. And the CC that they hit, has the wrong expiration date in paypal.

I got a $159 charge on my credit card from this number, called "Enlignmenti."  Don't know what it was for.

Oh well this makes since.

Everyone says its Paypal. I haven't gotten a message from them yet, but I owe Paypal money. Everything adds up.

We don't even have a paypal account and our account was debited! It is is tough trying to get it off our account!  They didn't call us, they just withdrew money and the statement said the number and BRIEFRAT.  Called paypal and they said they would investigate if they thought it was fraudulent. So far, no investigation by them, but our bank is looking into it.

I keep getting a call from this number as well. A lot of people are saying it's Pay Pal. Well, that's all fine and good except that the number that "Pay Pal" is calling is a private line that is not on my Pay Pal account. So, please have some common sense, people, and do not give out personal information over the phone.

i have one of these charges on my acct but it was my hubby he went through paypal to pay for internet while he was over seas you just need to figure out if you used any kind of service lately and if not call and figure out why. paypal is not the scammer its the scammers using the paypal name is all but im sure they will do whatever than can to help. goodluck with everything

They still trying again be aware I recieve 2 calls on may 25 from this number lucky me i never asnwer the phone to unknown phone numbers.
