Received a call. I was not available at the time. They did not leave a messsage. I have had credit card people call me in the past. If they did not get a hold of me, they left a message. Is this a GOOD number for PAYPAL...  Don't know, would not take a chance.

The cul-prit is (Easy CGI WebHosting) they are linked to Pay pal # 402-935-7733. So Pay Pal Is A Big Scammer also. Same thing happened to me some how they are getting your personal information when you sign up on Pay Pal site. I want to know how they got my credit card number.
Because it was never given to them.

They took 258.72 out of my account yesterday. All the contact info is there on your transaction statement, take legal action. Lets stop these theifs.

I did not receive a call, I got a $19.95 temp authorization on my credit card (I have email notifications of anything over .01 through my bank).

The temp charge showed as PAYPAL INC. I called paypal, they saw no charge on my account and were unhelpful. I called my bank and they said they couldn't do anything to dispute the amount until it went through. I asked them for any information on the charge, and they gave me the phone number 402-935-7733, and the charge category (which was employment agency, temporary help -- knowing I made no charges but neither organization was helpful yet... I googled it and (whew!) landed here.

As a result, I called paypal back again and got someone else in security who was smart enough to search for another account with my name, and there it was...an account someone had set up with my credit card and name. The charge was actually for linked in (which I use, but not through paypal).

RESULT: someone in fact had stolen my credit card number and information, created a paypal account with that information, and made a charge to linked in.

Anytime a person uses paypal for a purchase, the default charge shows as paypal (since that was the initiated transaction). That may or may not mean it is fradulent since it is the default.  BUT, always check out weird charges.

    Frustrated
Did not receive a phone call, but checked my online checking account and was mortified to see charges from Skype as well as paypal.  I've never used either one, and I'm out over $400.  This was the same phone number everyone else is reporting.  I don't think I'll ever use my card again to charge anything.  I'm a little more than ticked off right now, and I want to make sure I don't do anything to let these #$@@!! get my info again.

it is common for thieves to use online stores for fruad, less risk, they dont have to go to a store to make the purchases, and when mailed if it doesnt come, then it doesnt come. a former employer had his company cc
info stolen 4 times, found out 2 were because of a employee at one of our suppliers, 1 was an incident were his info was stolen from another
company's computers, and one was a former employee made a photocopy of
his card, 3 of those 4 they were used to buy stuff via ebay/paypal and the
fouth used yahoo auction (now defunct). at first my boss was pissed at
paypal because he thought they were defrauding/scamming him but we eventually found out it wasnt ebay or paypal, they were innoncent pawns in
    the scams too...

BUT irregardless, i have heard of, and seen times when paypal has used
poor to immoral and probly illegal business practices, so personally i
will use my card to purchase via ebay/paypal but wont 'verify' or give them my bank info, if a seller on ebay wants a paypal confirmed account
i just wont buy from them.

just got amex statement. Charges from 'PAYPAL *KNOWNHOSTLL 4029357733' and from 'PAYPAL *RICHARDMYER 4029357733' and from 'PAYPAL CIRTEXHOST 4029357733'

Called amex and they said the charges were put on an old credit card that -oddly enough - I paid for Trend Antivirus last year. Well the card number isn't in use - hasn't been for a while yet the charges are on there. They told me not to pay them and they would resolve it. As well, i do have a Paypal account but it's not on an amex. I just checked all my previous purchases - none match the names nor the amounts.

Seems to be a legitimate call from PayPal.

Within 5 minutes of sending 2 payments via PayPal this morning, I got a call from this number.  I ignored it, looked it up online here, called back, and got an automated prompt to enter the last 4 digits of my CC attached to PayPal.  I did not want to give out this information, so I hung up.  It seemed plausible, as I was using PayPal from an IP address that I haven't ever used before.

This afternoon I sent another payment via PayPal.  5 minutes later, a call.  I answer, it is a real person.  She asks if I made transactions via PayPal that day; I confirmed that I had.  She asked if I could tell her what the most recent one was.  I tell her the name of the payee (a company) and the approx. amount.  She had the exact amount (which I confirmed).  No giving her any financial info/SSN/etc.  Seems totally fine.

Got an email from "paypal" claiming:

You told us that you have forgotten your PayPal password.

Click the link below to verify this email address and create a new password:
(Had a link in here that looked like a legit paypal link)

If you didn’t request this email, please contact us at 402-935-7733.

I did not forget my password.  They didn't call me but they are trying to get me to call them.  I logged onto my paypal account with no problem, no problems with my history, not a chance I am calling that number and there is no reason for me to have received this email, unless someone tried to login using my account. I reported the email to paypal.

I have three lines like this:

    5/11/2009 PAYPAL 4029357733 CAUS Tran Date/Time: 05/07/2009 00:16:04 $1.00

It shows up as Pending.  The previous two showed as Pending but never showed up as Posted.  The weird thing is the $1.00 from each transaction not posted was not returned.  Right now I have only lost $2.00 but am worried that this is just to see if the process works for the scam.  I just placed another money transfer from Paypal to see if it happens again.  This all started after selling something on ebay to a person in New Zealand. The buyer had me send the item to Arkansas.
