- VictorThis wasn't a phone call, but a phone number on a credit card statement. My response was: "I also noticed an unexpected charge on my Costco CITIcard statement for 02/05 PAYPAL *ENUMBER INC 402-935-7733 NJ $16.08
I haven't knowingly used PAYPAL for months. Looking back at my e-mail, I found I had made an eBay credit card purchase of an amplified UHF TV antenna for that amount. (It has arrived, but I haven't put it together yet.) So it was a valid charge (unless I see it again on a different charge card.)
So, my recommendation to others questioning this number is, rather than wasting time and money on a call to this number, look back at your e-mail around the date and see if you made any eBay purchases (they send out confirmations of sales) or any charges for same amount.- Caller: PAYPAL

- Old man's daughterScam ALERT! These people called my father claiming to be paypal. American accent so my father thought it was real. They got access info to his computer, credit cards & paypal. Charges appeared under this number for over $1,500 and they were under the name ifixcareLLC and Dereck Casler / FUZIRCHY67@hotmail.com They call from another number (844) 865-4555 and then put charges thru with (402) 935-7733. BEWARE!

- PennsylvaniaNo calls here, but as others have experienced, 3 unauthorized charges appeared in my account under this contact number. (Spoke with my bank and it is the phone number associated with the transactions). The account that was compromised is not associated with my Paypal account, there's no history of them in my Paypal account, and I did not make any other purchases that otherwise use Paypal.

- imppressPhone number appeared alongside three legit charges from Paypal.
The phone number may be used by scammers to imitate legit charges?
Not every one of these is a scammer. But some are, it seems.- Caller: Credit Card Invoice from legit Paypal charges (note)

- TxjeSo I finally went to the trouble of getting a number to call paypal - which is not an easy task. They called me back on the same number we are talking about here, (which was NOT the number I called). I asked her to explain to the powers-that-be that while we appreciate their attempt at privacy (for them and for us), they are getting a bad rap because they do not show the person that's calling as PayPal.
- Caller: Paypal

- TxjePart2- do what you want, but for me, if I get a call from this number again (I have now entered both numbers - CS and this number in question - into my contacts - so it should show up as PayPal), and I will definitely answer.
I have read over the horror stories, and I was confused too... but it sounds as though PayPal is calling in regard to an inquiry or a charge to your account, and when you don't answer, then eBay or the seller? goes ahead and charges your account. If you don't have an account with them I'm not sure how they could do that. And I'm not sure how you could be charged for anything from eBay if you're not a member, but I would definitely answer. If you don't, then you are up against a time limit for fraudulent charges, so the matter does need to be taken care of. If you still aren't sure, then just GO to the PayPal site and contact them whether you have an account or not. I know it's a lot of trouble, and don't know why they make it so hard to contact them (they keep trying to get you to solve the problem yourself).... but you don't want to be hit with charges you didn't incur. It's easier just to answer the call.
Whatever, as for any other call like this, of course, do NOT give out any information about your account, your Social, your email, or physical address, or any other private matter. I wouldn't even answer when she asked for my ID!
Good luck and be SAFE out there!- Caller: PayPal

- Scott GriffithI received a voicemail on my work telephone purporting to be from Paypal at 402-935-7733. The person rattled on about how they needed me to send a bank statement so that "the underwriters could approve my application". I have made no applications for any Paypal accounts, and if I had, I certainly would not use my unpublished work number to do so. Contacting Paypal customer service was useless- they simply told me not to worry about it, even when I escalated to the call center supervisor. Not acceptable. This is clearly a scam of some sort.

- KatWoman just called the office I'm a gatekeeper for and asked for one of the prinicpals. When informed she was unavailable, the caller declined to leave a message and stated she would just send an email. CID said Payupal but I highly doubt that's actually where she was calling from.

- grlinnc replies to girlintxI had a call this A.M. from my bank and this number has tried two times today to charge $2984. on my charge card. If you closed the credit card,(as I had to do today) they should send you some paperwork to fill out and it should be taken off yoir charges. Don't give up without a fight. I've run into this before.
- Paula replies to iDBEWARE of this number!!!!!! Called the number as it showed up on my Discover account regarding 3 separate charges from one company. Two were for items I did not want nor order. I had just placed the one order and because of the additional orders immediately emailed the company to cancel all three. Spoke to Discover who could not freeze the charges as they were pending. This phone number showed up on the Discover account. Called it and it said it was “Pay Pal”. Asked how to do a dispute and the guy wanted me to log into my computer so he would have access and repeatedly stated it was only way I could dispute charges. I did not give him access and goggled official pay pal site. Informed them of what had taken place and was told pay pal would never do that. Beware of this number and watch all of your accounts!!!!!
- StudioJoeI was suspicious at first by the appearance of 2 charges with different seller names (one Spanish, one Asian) and this same phone number attached to both, but it turns out a family bought merchandise on eBay and paid via Paypal, so my initial fear that these were fraudulent activity was unfounded. The charges were legitimate in my situation.

- Wouter replies to iDSomeone, or you ;), tried to make an online transaction and selected 'call my cellphone' as an verification option. Paypal calls your number and you have to put in a key so paypal can verify it's you.
So: if you didn't order anything with paypal: you can see the double verification of paypal works.
And if it was you, you have nothing to worry about either! - classyfitxoI called Paypal about 3 hours ago to confirm linking my bank account. I left a call back number to be called back in the waiting time I was given of 1 hr 40 minutes. Missed the call but I did receive a voicemail with my voice message to confirm that I had called earlier. This call was also from Nebraska but I'm sure there are scammers out there who are able to pull some [***] using the same number
