this number keeps calling me! please stop

This was a real person asking about me opening a bank accT at the PNC Bank. How did he know? I went to the bank and they told me it is customary to call and harass people with personal questions. Rip off caller ID said Gallup Poll

I received a call from this number on my cell phone about a week ago.  I told them to remove my number and never call me again.  The gentleman said he would do that.  Yesterday, I got another phone call from them.  I asked again for my number to be removed and to not call me again.  Apparently, they don't update their records.  Polling or not, if you are on the DO NOT CALL list, they shouldn't be allowed to call you!  I don't want nosey poll takers asking me questions and using up my plan minutes for my cell phone!

These people are relentless!  They call my cell phone every day without leaving a message, and it happens so much that they are bordering on stalking.  If you have received relentless solicitations as I have, I suggest you look into the laws of your state.

In my state, IL, there is an anti-stalking law that prohibits the following:

(3)  Making or causing the telephone of another repeatedly to ring, with intent to harass any person at the called number; or

(4)  Making repeated telephone calls, during which conversation ensues, solely to harass any person at the called number;

The legal definition of harassment includes an action that is shown to be a form of blackmail ("I'll stop bothering you, if you'll go to bed with me".)  In this case, however, it is "I'll stop bothering you, if you answer your phone just once."

In addition, the harassing company's electronic phone system has been warned by my electronic voicemail that they are to leave a message after the beep.  Regardless, they keep calling night after night after night... thus making it harassment according to the IL law posted above.

Crazy that I even need to think about a lawsuit if they only showed some common decency.

I also recieved a call from 402-952-4444, the guy said he was doing a survery for West Valley Medical Group.. wanted to get some information about a my medical.. I told him that i had not been to no doctors or hospitals on the day he asked about.. NONE OF THEIR FREAKING BUSINESS

Why on earth doesn't the Gallup Poll put their name on Caller ID instead of "Omaha, NE"? They'd get a much better response. Too many scam outfits use city/state names on Caller ID.

How do I get them to stop calling?

Probably some election committee.

Telemarketer even though I am registered with the National Do not call List. They call all the time and it is VERY annoying.

They called me over the weekend telling me that they WILL NOT SELL YOU anything and that they are a polling and survey company and would like to me be involved in their poll/survey. I asked how long it would take and they said 8 minutes. I told them I didn't have time for an 8 minute survey over the phone and to remove me from their calling list BUT they called me AGAIN within 3 days at 8:30pm EST. Who and what really is this company and HOW DID THEY GET MY NUMBER?  I safeguard my cell phone number very well or at least I try but "they" still manage to find it.

Put this number on my no-call list.

If you are calling my number then why do you hang up when the machine picks up? I guess it can not be that important that you reach us or you would leave a message. I suggest you stop calling this unlisted number.

This does not work ... I have done it and I am still getting so much junk mail from insurance companies, credit card companies, etc!

I'm all the way in the Caribbean and they just called my number. WHY ON EARTH will my # be called long distance for a Gallup Poll.......give me a break!!!!!

received call from 402-952-4444.  I am on the no call list.  After googling this number it advises it's from the gallup poll org.
