No difference between receiving a simple phone call & getting hit by a car?  Come on, talk about a ridiculous comparison!
I work for a firm that does medical research, we improve people's health & we save lives.
Yes, we do call your home phone & your cell phone.  No, we do not ask for any money or try to sell you anything.  Yes, this is real work, I get a paycheck, taxes are deducted, I get to listen to narrow-minded people all day who don't think medical researchers should be calling them.  It's always "call somebody else".  Well, guess what, you are the somebody else!
For a medical research study to be valid, we have to talk to whoever is selected, random selection.
We've been able to improve many areas of your health - from determining when to close a beach because of pollution that endangers swimmers lives, to preventing additional industry near residential areas with already high numbers of childhood asthma cases.
We're doing a beneficial work that's vital for the health & safety of masses of American people.
I feel sorry for those of you who are so narrow minded that you don't ever want to talk to someone that you don't know, or are so caught up in your own lives that you don't see that just a few minutes on your part could help to improve the health of thousands of others.
But if you really feel that you just can't take the time or tolerate helping yourself as well as others, just don't pick up the phone.  Eventually we'll call someone else.  It does no good for you to pick up the phone & swear at us or cuss us out.  We still have to call you back, it's our job.  I don't come up to your counter at Wal-Mart & cuss you out because you're talking to me.  Some tolerance & consideration would be nice.

It was Gallup. Also known as the Gallup Polls. If you call back that number, you'll find out it's Gallup. Stop freaking out people. The first post: When you sign hospital papers, make sure you read everything. The govt. ensures mandatory statistics for every hospital or health clinic in the United States. They use structured surveys to provide these statistics for the public. It is not voluntary-- You're participation is voluntary, but the surveys are not. The govt. insist on this specifically for our use, so that we can determine what hospital/ clinic is best for us.

It's not against HIPPA if you give your consent. And by signing paperwork, you have agreed to the terms on said paperwork concerning this very issue. By the way... Your 8 year old son does not have legal rights under HIPPA because he is NOT of age. HOWEVER, they should ask for the parent or guardian to conduct the survey on your child's behalf.

By the way, the DNC registry does not apply to pollsters because they are not soliciting anything. The information is used by the govt. to supply the public. Not specifically your information. That is totally against HIPPA.. But random questions alter, concerning the services offered.

Don't mean to be rude people... but you need to read the fine print. There is nothing illegal about Gallup.

No... They said they were calling from Gallup on BEHALF of Wells Fargo. There is a difference. Listen carefully next time.

Again....They said they were from Gallup calling on BEHALF of "said bank." You people really need to pay attention... Not only to the DNC TOS agreement, but to the interviewers as well. The DNC list does not apply to pollsters... If you had read the agreement when you signed up for the registry, you would have known this.

Stop lying. Gallup can't do that and since every conversation is recorded, they'd fire whomever real quick. Getting mad or angered over someone else's stupidity is NOT worth $1.56 cents... It's not worth getting fired over. If you wish to be excluded from a particular survey, pick up the phone and tell them kindly that you're uninterested and to take your number out of the system. By law, they must, and they have no problem doing it.

Your beef is with the govt. The government makes hospital surveys mandatory. It's for the public's benefit. The govt. will provide the statistics for every hospital/ health clinic in the nation.. This is for our use so that we may determine what's best for us.

Think about the big picture, rather than yourself. If you don't want phone calls, maybe you shouldn't have a phone.

No, ml's beef is being hassled by an unwanted survey. ml is free to use the phone in any way s/he sees fit. "shouldn't have a phone" isn't for YOU to decide. What arrogance.

Actually with telemarketing because I use to work at a call center and telemarketing has was one of the accounts we had. They get your number from the credit report and every time you apply for credit or change your information with a creditor the information gets updated on the credit report. You have the right to opt-out from prescreening on your credit file. which will keep people from being able to look at your credit report for your address and phone number. www,OptOutPrescreen.com is where only people with permission or business reason can access your credit report.

I think some of you just need to relax except that it's always gonna happen no matter how much you [***] and moan about it. Why waste your time and energy being pissed off and mad over something that's gonna happen no matter what..... bottom line, you're never gonna be able to completely stop unwanted calls. I understand that it is frustrating but there are many more things that could be worse and would be worth spending the time being frustrated and aggravated over. It's like getting junk mail. You never gonna be able to completely it. There's always gonna be some business or organization that's gonna send you crap that you don't want to just throw it away. If you've done all you can do to stop telemarketers from calling you then that's all you can do. If you continue getting the calls, let them go to voicemail or your answering machine, whatever. Listen to it once and then you'll know whether or not you wanna answer ignore it or accept it when you know who it'd from. There are much worse things that could be happening in your life aside from irritating phone calls. I also am on the do not call list and still get at least five or more calls a day on my cellphone and my home phone, but life is short, so just relax and put your energy toward something worth thats worth it! I'm only 33 and I have a terminal illness that I was diagnosed with 13 years ago.... while was still in the hospital after giving birth to my son. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I'm just a firm believer in not letting yourself get so upset over such pointless things and just be grateful that you're not dealing with something much worse. I know that I'll be damned if I am going to let something so trivial get me so worked up

Just got a call from these jerks going across my caller ID and laughed myself silly as I always do as I hear my answering machine telling them basically to get lost.   Now my fax machine goes on in anticipation of their next call.  I will not be rescuing their ear drums before the fax does it's thing.  Numbers I recognize, i pick up, and all others, I'm not sorry about your ear drums, nobody asked you to call...Oh Well !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Feb 29, 2012.... Last night and tonight I recieved a call from this number. I do not answer calls I don't know, but I do look them up to see where they are from. I found this site right after I hit search. Read a few comments. So I called the number, Gallop Poles, wanting me to take a pole. At the end if you press 1 you can leave a message, But they want your name and number. So I gave my number since they already had it. I used a few sailor words to let them know unpolitely that I do have an attorney on retainer, I am on no call list and if they call me again I will gladly sue them just for that pleasure. So, why do we have no call list if the lists are still being given.....I should add the no call list service to the law suit!!!!!  Thats [***] and I'm mad!!!!!!!
