I to just received phone call from this number, did look up the number, and got this company. I hung up after I heard who the lady was representing..its been 2-3 years since I had last heard from the *so called* phone directory company(PhonePages). After what seemed like hundreds of faxed invoices, they finally stopped. Now out of the blue, this call today..from a company not even in Canada...does that even work? We were scammed into the first phone call, payed that bill,,then when the renewal bill came,,I refused,,as I had never agreed to another year..but thats where they get you..I was so mad,,I did file a complaint with BBC,,but never heard anything. Am now ready to contact my lawyer..is it worth it,,or do we just continue to ignore these new calls from RM..and see what happens? I dont even want my business advertised on there site,,and now I see its listed 4x!! WHY? Am tempted to contact all the local business's in my area, that are listed with this company, and see how many of them actually are aware of it,,and if they were scammed as well...Any advice would be appreciated...

They called my work this morning, Rauch-Milliken International, Inc, claiming to be collecting a bill from Phones Pages Inc. (http://www.phonepagesinc.com/) Total scam.

They claim they have my voice recorded stating I would renew our listing, which isn't true as we've never had an account with them. I am always VERY careful when people call asking to "confirm" our information.

She asked to e-mail me the recording and bill when I told her we do not have an account. I did not give her my e-mail, instead I started drilling her for answers. =_

I asked her for information such as confirming the name of the company she works for, of the company they represent, of their phone number (she told me 888-705-4034, though it showed up as 504-837-6995 in caller ID), what her name was, etc.

She suggested I retain an attorney, when I asked for her name a second time. When I said I was writing down this information and asked again what her name was...she hung up on me.

    Classic.

FYI for Canadians, when these calls happen get as much information as you can and call Phonebusters.ca to report them. (I'm sure there is an American one as well)

You are lying when you say you don't leave intimidating messages or threaten people.   I have a recorded message on my voice mail from Joe Murdock stating he is with Rauch-Milliken and he is giving me a courtasy call to let me know I'm being sued and my business is being sued. I just looked up your name and you won't get a dime. I'm blocking your number and you can send me paper documentation in the mail with infomation and I'll pass it on to my attorney. Bye

Bill colectors nothing more. Not a law firm or anyone important. They are scammers. If you pay them, your money wont even go to your Bill. They dont even get permition from the ceditor to do this. They will lie about anything to get what they want. Rouch milligan telemarketers. I never answer the phone when they call and in the message the guy is very fustrated. "Its funny" Best thing to do is use a fog horn in the phone when they call. I did this once and i think the guy pooped his paints. The fact is they "can not" do anything!!!!

    I got the 3 day or else letter too. What a joke this company is. I sent them a certified letter stating I needed verification of any debt as well as a copy the FDCPA. Of course I highlighted the 2 obvious violations of federal law. I have a feeling I won't be hearing from "Lynn Mathews" anymore. (-;

Same deal with me. I thought these Phone Pages Scammers had moved on to someone else. Now the collection company, out of New Orleans, is calling my cell and my home number. The scammed a response out of my staff member with the conversation "not on the tape."
They listed my company on a page with 9 others in our small town. The great thing is that 7of those listed on the page had been out of business for over 5 years. Complete scam!!!!

I contacted our local police department and our local RCMP detachment. They both clearly said "do not pay it !!"

I have a phone plan that allows me to call the U.S. for free. If they want to tie up my phone lines I am sure I can do the same.

Hang in there and these crooks and their collection agents, in the United States, will move on.

I am quite certain that Rauch Milliken is the primary collector for YellowBook.  YellowBook is in a desperate state in its efforts to publish large outdated environmentally unfriendly YellowPages.  They now must stoop to levels unheard of to get payments for their other internet based system.  They promised me a large amount of free internet stuff and then charged me for every bit of it.  I also use Google and know for a fact I get it much cheaper than Yellowbook could ever provide it.  Yellowbook in fact employed the same representative who refused me service in some listings with AT&T Yellowpages and literally came to my home to make the sell.  I think this is a form of racketeering because they intend to find ways to punish legitimate small businesses with low quality listings or listings that are basically impossible to find and then charge for internet services that are so expensive that they seldom are accessed. They must satisfy their large corporate partners somehow.  Unfortunately because of the extremely rude and diabolical practices of Yellowbook and its collectors I have found it necessary to pay over $600 dollars in charges I do not believe I should pay.

sounds identical to us (phone pages scam in canada).  we never paid, filed papers/complaints with the bbb (pretty powerless), but made some headway with the Federal Competition Bureau!!  I'm pretty sure (regarding phone pages) that there was, if not a threat, an actual lawsuit filed by the Federal Gov't.  We sent in ++ sworn statements and evidence.  Haven't heard from those tools since 2008, now this Rauch Miliken is starting to do same.  I'm pretty sure they have "bought" the debt from the frauds up here.  If you own a company, go to a registries office and request a business debtor name search.might cost couple of $$.  Any litigation or liens will show up.  these numb-nuts don't have our actual operating name!! so besides alerting the federal government again with our previous and EXTENSIVE file numbers, i'll be getting in touch with our phone service providers to pay and block all numbers associated with Rauch-Miliken.have also asked about the legality of "action" in canada.  if you were targeted by Phone Pages and their fraudulent "renewal" program i highly suggest contacting and filing a claim with the Federal Competition Bureau.

Dean, do you mind if I ask what your complaint about Yellow Book was?  I'm having an issue where their representative fradulently obtained my signature on a renewal contract and since I didn't make payments on something I never intended to sign, they're suing me!  Not that I care, cuz they can  shove it but I was just wondering what your complaint was...

    Cell Phone Called

Got my first call today with the phone number blocked. John Marino left a message repeating his name and company name 4 times and to call this number 866-422-5231 before hanging up.

Four hours later I have another call this time with the number 504-837-6995 showing up in my caller ID again from John Marino. This time he mentions upper management names within the company...followed by "who ever John Marino Rauch-Milliken my number here is 866-422-5231 calling here in regards to the claim here with our client want to discuss with you  866-422-5231.

On their web page they state they provide acomprehensive approach to commercial debt recovery. Our goal is to maximize recovery rates on commercial bad debt and to ensure that you receive the highest return on every dollar placed with us.

The number they are calling is a cell phone number and not the company phone number. By requesting a return call from upper management it appears to be company related issue and not a personal matter involving myself. If that is the case why are they calling my cell phone and not the company main phone number.

Collection company has several complaints logged against them with the BBB 16 of which are Billing/Collection Issues. That is only one BBB report in the US and the BBB has several offices in the states and in Canada. How many other offices do they have with complaints logged against them. same type of stupid bullying attempts by john marino. always condescending tone and threatening manner. they are very unprofessional and call multiple times a day even though the law is once a day in ohio. whether it is contact or vm.
you know when your consumer's don't pay how does a company pay their distributors. i'm sure it is just as bad for many small business owners. and being threatening and leaving messages saying you are "hiding" and "stupid" is not how people should be treated. i would never imagine calling someone who owes us money stupid.
    good luck all.

I tried to seetle with yellowbook but they are to stubborn and inflexible to listen. Scew them and RM.

I can help but say to those who have signed contracts or made any agreements with any creditor look in the mirror and blame yourself.  You created a debt and should have paid it according to the terms of your agreement.  Oh, let me guess you didn't read the contract.  You are the reason that Debt Collectors/Debt collections Attorney's are in business.  Now debt collectors understant that if you have fell on hard times it maybe impossible not to pay in full so make an arrangement.  They still have a job to do.  The best way to handle a debt collector is with kindness/kid gloves.  If you are nice then the collector most likely will be nice too.  But if you are evasive or disrespectful... of course you get what you have given 5 fold.  Remember it is thier job to collect and by the way last time I checked most debt collectors make a 30k (+) yearly income with bonuses, benefits, have their own offices, drive descent cars, own their own homes and yes some have a college education.  The prehistoric image of a debt collector should be extinct.  So next time you get a collections call and you created a debt do not get mad at the collector get made at the man in the mirror.  God Bless America and Every Other Country!!!

    Respectfully,
To all who hate debt collectors and owe a client "PAY YOUR BILL"  OR DO NOT CREATE A DEBT".

The issue is not about debtors refusing to pay. Debtors won't pay UNVERIFIED debt especially when the collector is abusive. Debtors cannot tell the difference between an abusive-but-legit collection call from a scammer call trying to extort money from them. The FDCPA http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre27.pdf treats the INITIAL CONTACT between collector and debtor (first call, first letter, first whatever) as a special event. Legit collectors per section 809 of the FDCPA *must* tell you at initial contact, or send you paperwork within 5 days of initial contact, the following:
    1. $amount of debt,
    2. name of the current creditor (which may differ from the original creditor who might have sold your debt),
    3. a statement that that debt will be assumed to be valid unless you dispute in writing within 30 days,
    4. a statement that that if you do dispute in writing within 30 days, the collector must mail you written verification of the debt,
    5. a statement that if you ask the collector in writing within 30 days, the collector must send you the name and address of the original creditor if it's different from the current creditor.
If you don't get the 5 disclosures, orally or in writing (you do not have to ask for them, the FDCPA requires collectors to provide them), treat the collector like you would any SCAMMER.
Note that 3,4,5 must be done *IN WRITING* so you will need to ask an address from your collector. If s/he refuses to give you one for any reason, treat the collector like a SCAMMER.
The collector can threaten court action at initial contact but the FDCPA requires that the collector actually take you to court if the collector threatens it. Threatening court and not going through with it (coercion) is illegal.
If they say the FDCPA does not apply to them because they own your debt, the debt-owner exemption only applies to the original owner. Any 3rd party who buys the debt for the purpose of collecting debt is treated as a debt collector, i.e., ownership is irrelevant and debt buyers must obey the FDCPA as explained in this FTC Staff Opinion letter here http://www.ftc.gov/os/statutes/fdcpa/letters/arbuckle.htm
Has the statute of limitations for your state http://www.fair-debt-collection.com/SOL-by-State.html expired on your debt? If expired, don't pay.
Collectors generally have to be licensed by your state to practise (collect debt) in your state and you can find out by calling your state Attorney Generals Office. Ask if a license is required and does this collector have one. If not licensed, don't pay and file a complaint with your state AG.
