What a scam!! Told the guy that he's telling a bunch of lies saying that my Windows computer was sending warnings about being infected with malware. I have a Mac!! And there is no way that your computer is sending out enough data (name, phone number etc.) to the world unless they're the ones who've put something malicious on your computer in the first place. Silly rabbit.

Don't let them sucker you in to providing any details about yourself or let them gain access to your computer in any way (IP address, email, web site FTP)!!

If in doubt run a free system scan or install MS Security Essentials at a bare minimum.

I received a call from this number who mumbled the first name but used my last name. He identified himself as Microsoft and wanted to discuss my Windows use for the last 2 weeks. I told him I don't use Windows I have Mac computers and he he was gone just like that. I wonder what the game is.

This has been going on for months. How come law enforcement seems powerless to do anything about it?

unwanted calls from the U S A California, harrassing calls, I NEVER answer these.
They even figured out a way to bypass my servers voice mail.

I received this call today. An Asian woman whom I could hardly understand said they were doing a service call on my computer. I asked what company she represented and she said that they were a tech company and they fix your computer remotely if it has viruses, etc............ She said are you turning on your computer? to which I replied no, I have my computer serviced locally by someone I trust. She hung up abruptly.

Guy called me. Said he was from Microsoft. Scam ???

I just got a call from the same guy - very heavy accent. He said his name was Peter and that there was a problem with the Microsoft and Word programs. I asked him if there was a number that I could call him back on and it was 8281231705. I came back to a cell phone. Thank goodness that the kids were a little loud or else I might not have picked up on it. I went to another room to hear better and decided that it was too weird.

I had a message from an unlisted number on my phone today. All it said is "you lied to me". I hit "5" which tells me the time and number the message came from it came up as this number.  Glad I came to this site as it kinda creeped me out.

I live in Brampton, Ontario and just received this call telling me to turn on my computer and press Ctrl along with the r key as my computer was corrupted with a large number of junk files that were harmful to my computer. I asked where he was calling from 3 time before he told me "India". I told him if Rogers Telecom wants me to test my computer they can email me. I have Norton Antivirus as so he needn't try selling me anything....have a good day, this call has ended. Goodbye. click.

I'm from Ontario and this number has been calling me almost every day, phone says unknown. I finally picked up, some Indian guy says he's calling from technical department about our computer. I asked him how he knew we had a computer, and he said "How do I know? Ma'am, I was at your house last year, and I saw the computer in your room!" I said that he was never here, that's ridiculous, and he says "Of course I was! We had a cup of tea together, don't you remember?" At this point I'm laughing - the conversation was getting so absurd. I asked for his company's name and he started shouting that I was going to report him to the police and he wouldn't tell me the name and hung up.

I can't believe such an obvious scam like this has been going on for months and not been stopped.

Same message as most everyone...East Indian accented man....I have been sending out viral emails ---he wants to help me fix it blah bllah blah...I told him off...and here's the number...which is unattainable...

Had numerous calls from this number as well as unknown long distance numbers all claiming the same.  My husband told them we don't have a computer and I told them the same.  They get very angry and hang up.  Next time they will get an earfull and I will be reporting them. We are in Newfoundland.

I got a call from this 510-943-3040 number too.  It was an East Indian guy calling, saying he was from Microsoft and my computer files were 75% corrupt and that I need to go turn my computer on and he'd show me what was wrong.  I said, I'd just take my computer to the shop and have them look at it, then hung up.  Glad I didn't do what he asked.

I got a call from this number and the guy got pissed when I told him I didnt have a computer. He wanted me to turn it on and then proceeded to call me vulgar names like a c*nt, co*k sucker, [***] etc.. I told them I was going to report to police and hung up.
He said he was from Microsoft

My call screener (from Shaw Cable phone service) intercepts this call because it does not (apparently) have a VERIFIABLE caller ID. Code generator programs used by some tele-marketers do not seem to get through my call screener, so the call just goes blank on the line (BUT THE NUMBER IS SHOWN).

I keep getting these calls, when I answer there is no one there, it is very annoying. How can I stop this? I have phone block but it will not work with this Phone #

I am after getting a few calls from this number but when ever I pick it up no one answers. I decided to google the number and I am glad that I did, now I know it is a scam. Thanks for all the info :)
