Just googled the number and came across these postings.  Sounds like the same or similar guy.  Like some of the other postings, he had my last name and started going on about viruses because I have windows on my computer.  Said his name was Erik Wilson and was really eager for me to turn on my computer for him.  He got a bit pissed when I told him that my hubby was in charge of anything computer related and asked for his info so we could return his call later.  Not surprisingly, he hung up!

Yes, I had the same call and told him I wasn't even running Windows .... funny when these people go speechless after a spiel they shovel at you!!! ... then "click!"  Bell should put some way into their phone system so we could tele-hands around the necks of these GD scammers!!!

Oh, he said his name was Eric .... I don't know any Eric that sounds like that!!!!  ... Is Eric also an East Indian name?.... I think not!

They say they have my social, dob, and various information for an auto loan that I have not applied for. When I tried to file a complaint they hung up and said they do not take complaints.

The 3040 number has been calling my phone for the last few weeks, I keep seeing it on the missed calls but am never around to anwser it. Finally today I anwsered it twice and both times there was no one there, I waited for about 15-20 sec then the other end hung up. My fiance anwsered once and waited and the other end had an automated voice that said "goodbye" and hung up. Weirding me ouuuuuut. Is there any way they can get your info or on your computer just by being on the phone line with you? Also, how or who can we report these calls to??
I never give info out on the phone, I tell them I've got a mailbox for any info they want to send me, since they have my address and all.

I'm an American living in Canada and thanks to the internet I've gathered that most people are [***], does not matter where you're from.
Anyhow, I got a call from this number and failed to answer it. Since I used to live in the Bay Area, I was hoping it was a friend or family member calling even though my instinct told me not to answer. I'm very thankful for sites such as these to check the numbers before I answer or call back. Have a great day everyone.

They keep calling on my job and they need to stop, because this is my job not my home, and I don't want them to call me at all special my job and home.

Thick accent wanted to fix my computer. Laughed at him and he told me to f.off

I live in Newfoundland, Canada.  I received a call from this number a few minutes ago.  The foreigner told my computer was corrupted with a large number of junk files that were harmful to my computer.  I told him that there was nothing wrong with computer and he stated that he wasn't telling me that there was anything wrong with my computer.  I told him I wasn't interested in anything he had to say and he continued anyway.  They I told him to remove my name from his calling list and that I was on the National Do Not Call list.  At that point he stopped talking and I hung up.  Obviously they don't check the Do Not Call list.  My number is registered with them up until January 2016.

I have been getting calls from these people...but oddly unlike everyone else they say that are a diabetes association or something like that....

I just received a call from 510 943-3040 but when I answered there was no one there. On the caller ID it showed VOXBONE SA. I Googled the number and found all these messages. Is there any way to stop this?

Second call today but this time it was 'unknown number' which has been on my ID for several days. I did answer this one and a man with an thick accent spoke saying he was from computer support. I told him I didn't have a computer and he hung up. Hope that stops the calls.

I got a call from this number 1- 510-943-3040 as well and i live in New Brunswick Canada..

just had a call and was asked to turn on my computer.  asked him what kind of computer I had and he said windows 7 - I asked him more questions and then he got down right rude.  said that I was uneducated and them asked me how old I was.  He then asked me how big my boobs were.  I said to have a nice day and then hung up.  he freaked me out.  he gave me the creeps.

It's funny, they call saying my ip address was sending strange signals, but how would they get my phone number?  I hung up.

I'm from Newfoundland Canada and here, we like Americans.  Doesn't matter to us, we know that just because some people are violent in some areas, it isn't in the rest of the country.  A lot of Canadians are very prejudice and we are supposed to be the nice ones.  Pls note, we aren't all that way.

This number calls my dad's phone probably 4 to 6 times per day, they are relentless. So far I haven't answered any of the calls, thank goodness for caller ID, and thank goodness for Google. I'm wondering how to get these calls to stop..my dad is a Hospice patient, and the constant ringing of the phone is very disturbing to him. I don't answer calls from numbers that I don't recognize, just let the answering machine get them, and of course, there are never any messages left. Just want them to stop! Is there a way??? Sorry to those of you who have been scammed! And thanks for all of this helpful information. I am from the US, and love my Canadian friends. Have quite a few of them, too!

I'm in Toronto.  My daughter took this call - it's a complete scam.  They claim to be from Microsoft and state that they know that our computer has multiple viruses.  They then ask for remote access.  I understand that this leads to requesting credit card info - but my daughter did't get that far.

Oh yes, and although our call display said 510-943-3040, he claimed to be calling from 305-702-0520.

Too bad your drop down menu for "Call Type" doesn't include an option to report a scam.

These people are still trying to scam us.  My call was about viruses, etc. on my computer.

the exactsame number 510 943 3040 called me saying they want me to type some command in the run window...i told them i wasnt doing anything...she asked why i said i dont run windows..she said well we had complaint that your computer was severely infected..i was like pretty funny im the only one live here....she asked me what i typed in i said NOTHING she said why i said im not doing anything to help you with your scam......i dont believe you.....she then hung up on me

In Toronto. Keep getting calls from this number. Never answer , and they never leave message on my machine.  I want the number blocked.  How do I do that ?  Glad I found this site. :)
