- Azdora| 1 replyTHANK YOU! I was about to send the money off THIS MORNING to Sherri Gordon! I took a look at her "rental agreement form" and noticed some weird things (absolutely no phone number, plus slight differences in the address of the apartment) and of course the directions to mail the money to her "accountant" in Terre Haute, Indiana. I finally decided to Google her name and saw this scam info. Thank you for these postings!
In the last few days I have also received similar emails from one "Smith Chamberland" and "Harry Joe."
Another thing that clued me in was the way some of these emails were written. I teach English as a second language and to be honest some of these emails seem to be written by individuals whose first language doesn't seem to be English, despite the exceedingly whitebread names. - This is DEFINITELY a scam replies to LouiseI too was dealing with a neusa.hawhorne@gmail.com. She WOULD NOT under any circumstances take no for an answer when I tried to coax her into meeting me to give her cash. I pulled out all the stops even ffering her extra money, candy, flowers (I was toying with her at this point) It was such a blatant scam but she persisted on my wiring money, sending a money gram.
I have been reporting scammers on Craigslist all week. They are out there in large numbers. If it's too good to be true price-wise is most likely is a scam
I am REALLY sorry for your financial loss. - Dejazz replies to sarahBEWARE / SCAMMERS: ramsonrental001@gmail.com
Same deal: wire the money. Refused to meet in person. Claims he is an agent working for someone else. When I accused him of scamming me he became belligerent and cursed me, my father my mother, etc.
They all work the same way: wire the money upfront. If you request to meet in person or preview the rental they refuse. Never deal with Craiglist listings. Most if not all are scammers. Unless they have a website and will deal with credit cards STAY AWAY!!! - Duped in Indiana replies to Duped in MiamiGot me too. I feel like an idot. Wired the money to Indiana today and when I didn't get a conformation for the booking researched the name Jane Synovec and poof, instant conformation that I'd been scammed. At least I found out now and not the day I arrived in New York.
- Bostons mom replies to AliciaI posted this warning on Craigs list but appears that it was flagged for removal....everyone that reads this should try posting it also and try to save someone else!!
- Sofie from DenmarkThat was a close call. Thank you for the warning. Our correspondence was with Sherri Gordon.
- Gabriela from Brazil| 7 repliesWow....I can't say anything else but THANK YOU VERY MUCH for all these posts....I have been exchanging emails with most of these scammers about NY apartments! I had already flagged a few when I found the emails looking too much like others I have read, but this site definitely helped to rule out a lot of them.
- Gabriela replies to Gabriela from Brazil| 6 repliesHi all, just got two more emails, which to me also seem like a scam - they're perfectly the same, the only changes are the owner name and the address. The first is Moore Anthony ( 50 E 10th St , New York , NY 10018 USA) and the other is Harris Donald (42 E 27th St, New York, NY 10116).

- New Orleans Vacation Rental SCAM replies to Gabriela| 5 repliesHello all,
I have been looking for accomidations in New Orleans for Mardi Gras 2011. I have contacted several people, who I suspect are in fact the same person, and trying to pull the ole Western Union SCAM.
Scott Sinclair <desiredman36456@yahoo.com>
Sheri Anderson <shanderson1978@gmail.com>
James Millman <jhnmillman52@gmail.com>
Please beware!!!! Do not make the same mistake others have made. Always google search peoples names, numbers and emails before sending them money. And NEVER send money Western Union!!!
GOOD LUCK. - SCAMERS in NOLA replies to New Orleans Vacation Rental SCAM| 3 repliesHad the exact same experience. They stupidly added this paragraph:
"All you have to do to hold the house is to pay a 50% of the total
rental fee, plus the Refundable Security Fee which is $200
which will be given back to you on the day you departing from the
property to the propert owner via western union .
Once you have made the payment I will issue you a receipt confirming
your payments. There are also door men and cleaners who would come at
intervals under your request to clean and attend to your needs. This
also does not attract any extra charges. You get to notify me of the
exact time you will be arriving to make arrangement to pick you up.
There is no extra charges for this also. I will render this service
for free.I will send you our Terms, Condition, booking form and
agreement as soon I have your reply to know you are interested in the
property.
Regards"
There has never been a doorman for 1 floor shotgun house in the history of New Orleans.
PLEASE BEWARE!!! DO NOT SEND MONEY WESTERN UNION!!! - Almost taken replies to MikeWhew, I almost gotten taken by alias Jane Synovec too. Maybe sometime she will make amends to all the people she took advantage of.
- Jacqueline Nowikovsky replies to lil mamaPlease please tell me how to get my money back, I was so stupid and paid 650 $ to this Cynthia Justin via Western Union, Please help me!
- Gloria replies to Marc in DFWYou guys just saved my friend. He was about to send money to JANE SYNOVEC, this SCAMMER who told him to send money to her husband, a certain Micheal Jones who lived in some weird town. And after reading this we realized that he was not her only victim and it avoided us from sending that money. THIS PERSON IS HORRIBLE! HOW CAN THEY DO THIS TO PEOPLE! KARMA WILL CATCH THAT JANE SYNOVEC WHO IS FALSLY USING SOMEONE'S IDENTITY!
- KurtThanks to everyone for posting, my parents were just about to wire money to this fraud when I put the brakes on because it seemed so fishy. This was the evidence they needed to ditch the entire operation.
- NEThank goodness for this thread. Cynthia Justin is still on Craigslist offering $80/night gorgeous west village vacation rentals. I had a feeling something was up because the photos were too nice for the low price. I have sent a message to craigs list. Why can't they just block this person from posting? So glad for this thread!
