Alright here is where you are wrong, the collectors always use their real names. It is also not against any law to call a debtor's family member to get information. If your step mother would have just paid her debt then you wouldn't be getting those calls

People overreact when it comes to these type of calls. They don't understand that if you just pay your debt when you create it, you wouldn't get phone calls from debt collectors. No matter how "measley" the debt is. It is still money that you spent that you apparently had no intention of paying back. Ans it is not a debt collections agency. It is a real Law Firm. The company is based on a group of investors who work with banks and other various creditors to buy your debt (that you decided not to pay) for less than what is owed on it (ofcourse for a profit). They then have a group of people who call out to collect this debt. There is always ways that people will work with you. People often times get nasty and rude so the collectors retalliate. They will always ask for the balance in full which you do owe. But if you are not able to pay it, there is other options that you will be able to work out. And if you are getting phone calls for another person, its either because you know them or you have their old phone number. If you ask the collector that you are working with to take your number out of their systems they usually will.

First a woman called me this morning @ 8:30 a.m. asking for my mother who doe not live with me. I informed her that this person does not live here and she responded sarcastically, "INTERESTING!" She never said what it was regarding. Then a few minutes later I received another call from a man at this number. I informed him of the law under "Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, Section 806." This man acted as if he never heard of such a law and asked if I was on drugs and he didn't want to listen to what I had to say, only insulting me. They are very abusive! Later on the same morning, there was another call, but this time the caller ID displayed "UNAVAILABLE" (or sometimes will say "OUT OF AREA.") I was able to get the number from that call which was (866)826-4101. I called back that number and, sure enough, I was greeted with "LAW OFFICES OF JOE PEZZUTO"! Unbelievable!

I just got a phone call too from this company, looking for my brother. I don't understand why they do not just call him directly if they want to collect on a debt. His number hasn't changed in YEARS. Makes me wonder...

he called my sister's unlisted number time and time again and she has 720 + credit score as of 3 months ago, and owes only for her house and she pays early every month.

We have been getting calls from them and others.  We are in the process of filing bankruptcy right now.  Our lawyer said for to answer the phone and tell the collectors to call him.  I know how they act and I do not want to deal with it.  I just let it ring.  We are not bad people, we were just put in a position were we had to file due to our house.  It was a low income loan purchased by my mother-in-law.  She passed and we got the house.  My husband made too much money to keep the loan, so now we are filing bankruptcy.

it is a lwayers office what do you think will happen. ignoring a debt dsnt make it go away. it was even ordered in our divorce decree that she pays for the debt. your wages can be garnished, they can levy your checking account. I had to go thru this my self. i borrowed the money from family to get out my garnishment because i couldnt make my regular bills if im being garnished at my job. they found me cause they have my social. so im writing this because other people need to know what will happen. i hate bill collectors there rude obnoxious and i agree. but when it went to a attorneys office i didnt realize what would happen till i received my last paycheck. they took about 25% of my net wages.

Are you kidding me? They just called me too. They asked where I was located and then they just hung up. On my personal line, I always get calls from collection agencies looking for Alva Rodriquez and other persons with the last name Rodriguez. I guess you and I both have #s that these Rodriquez people use to use. I think this Rodriguez person was a shyster because once someone called looking for them and saying that they heard he can help them get their relatives across the border....

I have just gotten 5 phone calls in the last half and hour, i don't understand what is the problem with the company this is a level of harassment that is illegal.I refuse to give out any information about myself or my family this is a phishing scam and I am not going to let myself or husband.

If they didn't raise interest rates to 30% after ONE late paymenet during hard times, we WOULD pay our measly depts..... Instead @#$% 'em!

They cannot just garnish your wages,they have to sue you in court first.90% of the time unless your debt is huge it is a waste of their time and money.

don't be fooled!  you paid less than you owed, but a Settlement went on your credit report -- it will cost you WAY more than what they 'saved' you....   they lie, the company is legal crime.

I just a called from a man at this number didn't identify himself caller ID said unknown name. He asked for my husband's ex wife Sharon Rose.....they divorced in '86!

Were you able to determine if he is a licensed attorney?  He called and harassed my aunt, threatened to throw her in jail immediately (by sending the local sheriff) if she did not pay on an account, then threatened to put her daughter in jail if she didn't pay on the account (apparently the credit card with Bank of America was in both names) so she paid it by putting it on another credit card. Her report was that he was horribly mean, impatient, very angry with her.  She is a 70-year old woman with advanced ovarian cancer who was undergoing chemo and not exactly in her right mind at that time.

The Law Office of Joe Pezzuto has probably called every person who shares my last name.....NOT FUNNY, considering they have a way to contact me. It's just their sick way to occupy their time. These collectors are scums and very unhappy predators. They should sharpen up their skip tracing practices buy not calling every person with my last name listed under the public directory.
