    Grammar Please! replies to HAHA UR FUNNY
    Do you know how to formulate a sentence?  Do you know that it is rude and uncouth to type a message all in capitals?  Do you know that it makes your message hard to read?

    Do you also know that what you are accusing everyone else of doing, you are doing yourself?  Have you ever heard that assuming things makes an a** out of you?

    I recieved a call from the "Office of Joe Pizzuto" as well, looking for someone that I do not know.  They made this call at my work number.  This is not the first time that they have called me.  I have told them many times that the person they are looking for cannot be found at this number.  I have had this number for over 6 years, so I really don't understand it.

    So 'HAH UR FUNNY', unless you truly know what you are talking about, please keep to the facts. And please make your messages more readable. Thank you.

    I had a Orchard MBN credit card from my college days well over 6yrs. About 2004 or 2005, the card company was taken over by Bank of America. I in 2006 opened a credit acct with Bank of America , thinking it would alleviate some of the strain if I transferred some of the balance. Needles to say life happened  got behind on the payments and they went into collections. I've been back and forth with Joe Pezzuto law  office about settling the debt. They have been very nasty in Particular a woman, who told me that I had no control over the situation of what was happening.  So from that point of any conversation had I recorded. Just recently I receivd two letters two weeks apart wanting to settle the debts for each account. One from the Joe Pezzuto Law off and the other from a Law offc also in the same city of the 1st Law firm, wanting to settle for the Orchard MBN card. I ALSO noticed that the client each of these firms are representing are both one in the same.....
    Can someone tell me how I can go about proving that the 1st credit card was in fact taken over by BOA and that these law offices are trying to get paid twice, given that the client in each letter is the same.

    This is a typical trick with debt collectors.  In just about all states it is illegalto garnish wages.  They just want you to think so and get their large 50-60%commissions from the creditors, plus their fees.  They are con artists hiding under an umbrella of a law firm.  This activity IS illegal in most states.

    KNOW YOUR RIGHTS
    typical state laws regarding debt collectors.
    http://www.oag.state.tx.us/consumer/debt_collection.shtml#law
    excerpt - Harassment and Fraud are Prohibited
    State law prohibits the use of harassment and abusive collection tactics. It is illegal for any debt collector to:
    threaten violence or other criminal acts;
    use profane or obscene language;
    falsely accuse the consumer of fraud or other crimes;
    threaten arrest of the consumer, or repossession or other seizure of property without proper court proceedings;
    use the telephone to harass debtors by calling anonymously or making repeated or continuous calls;
    make collect telephone calls without disclosing the true name of the caller before the charges are accepted.

    The use of fraudulent or deceptive practices is also prohibited, including:
    using a false name or identification;
    misrepresenting the amount of the debt or its judicial status;
    sending documents to a debtor that falsely appear to be from a court or other official agency;
    failing to identify who holds the debt;
    misrepresenting the nature of the services rendered by the collection agency or the collector;
    falsely representing that the collector has information or something of value in order to discover information about the consumer.
     Your home and wages: Some collectors will threaten to take your home or wages to pay for a debt. In Texas, if your residence has been declared a homestead, it cannot be taken to pay a debt except for debts taken for the purchase of the home (ie, a mortgage in default), for home improvements, for home equity loans or to pay certain taxes. Wages may be garnished only to pay debts related to court-ordered child support, back taxes, and defaulted student loans. Debt collectors cannot garnish wages for repayment of consumer debt.

    Aneducted consumer is a dangerous one!

    They don't always use their real names either.  I worked at a collection agency for two years doing data entry.  Each collector had his or her own alias.  It was for protection.  People get upset and sometimes dangerous when they feel they've run out of options and are desperate.

    More than Annoyed
    First time they called (three times in a row with ten minute intervals) with no message. I called them and they said they have no record of my number in their system. Law Office of joe Pezzuto. Requested that they discontinue calling me. Asked me for lots of personal info.

    Immediately received another call. Asking for Julio. Told them wrong number. I am not Julio

    This weeks more calls with messages for George. I am not George and do not know anyone named George.

    I have no outsnading debt.

    Again, they claim they do not have my number in tehir system. One more call. Then consider pursuing legal action.

    They can't call you at work. Next time they call you at work just say "You cannot call me at work" and if they call you back then it is illegal.  I had someone tell me to do this, and i haven't recieved a call since.

    I have had this number showing up on my caller id for weeks.  (Several times per day.)  I just called the number and got an operator, asked who they were trying to reach (no one I know) and she was very polite and kept me on the phone until she was sure my number was removed.

    Just to further add to this post.  This law firm and attorney are NOT licensed with the American Bar Association.  Also there are several outstanding complaints against this firm.  Add to it here https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/.  These people are not lawyers and are preying on people.  They are scum sucking bottom feeders and must be stopped!

    learned the hard way replies to G$
    Here's what you don't get:  yes, "paid in full" got a monkey off his back, debt collectors made some money but in doing so they were lying sob's.  I am sure they told "paid in full" that he'd be just that, PAID IN FULL.  Truth be told, they lied to him.  His credit report will show something like "charged off" or settlement with a charge off.  Truth be told, his credit report will take a hit in some fashion.  So is the monkey really off his back like they promised hime?  NO!!!  There is still a monkey there, just a different one.

    No one knows why someone has a debt and some of you assume that one who owes is "guilty" when in fact often times it's over a dispute with a credit card company.  When you dig in your heels with card companies, they add fee upon fee until they give up and close the account.  Then they sell it is "bad debt" to scumbags like Joe from a law office who lie their way to whatever they can get from someone.  Yes, if you have legitimate debt, you should make every effort to pay it but NEVER PAY IT TO SCUMBAGS WHO SAY THEY ARE FROM A LAW OFFICE!!!  They use every scare tactic that they can to the point of harassment.  They will say anything to get a buck including the use of misleading statements like "paid in full".
