They are harassing my work

They have called me every day for someone I do not know and it is an automated number and has been going on for week.  I am really annoyed.  I just got a call from someone in person looking for the same person also and told them I do not know anyone by that name.

Agree with all the same.I do not answer those types of calls.I wouldn't even need to file bankrupty(represent myself, call for change of venue if I see fit), being a disabled below Federal Poverty level income with no assets.

Pains in the Butt!!  They kept calling me and I'm not the person they're looking for.  Always let it go to voicemail, sometimes they would leave a message and sometimes not. I finally had enough and called to have them remove my number from their call list. The man I spoke to was rude and had an attitude, which was really not needed!  Let's see if they stop calling.

well...it didn't work.  They called again this morning, even after I asked them to remove my number from their list.  I also blocked their number on my phone and they're still calling!

So here's the lowdown on this Joe Pezzuto guy... HE DOES NOT EXIST!!! After doing some P.I. work, I discovered that "The Law offices of Joe Pezzuto" are actually registered and owned by Bryan K. Levy, an attorney in Arizona whose area of specialty is NOT creditors rights. Go to Manta and check out Joe Pezzuto, and you'll find the number listed is this number...then go to Bryan Levy's profile there, and you will find that the contact number for HIS OFFICE is actually another number that constantly calls under the Joe Pezzuto name. Funny that after a good time looking, I can't find ANYHTING about Joe Pezzuto, not even at the Arizona Bar...not a picture, no education info...nothing other than the standard "The Law Office of Joe Pezzuto" blanket info.

My suspicion is, and this is simply conjecture, that Mr. Levy doesn't want you to know that he is is the owner because: 1) He is not specialized on creditor's law, which can work against him if you do get a specialized attorney to represent you, and 2) he probably doesn't want to smear his firm's impeccable image of "helping others in need". Can he sue you? Sure, but it's very unlikely. Mr. levy has a VERY PROFITABLE practice, and being that he is a corporate lawyer, this $2 to $5 million a year little venture he has only provides additional "pocket change" for him. Recomendation: in the unlikely case he does sue you, go get you a lawyer that specializes in bankruptcy. even if you don't go bankrupt, they can help you push these idiots back. I can't imagine why these [***] would continue to call when most people who default on their bills actually do because they CAN'T PAY. Duh! :-/

You may want to change your number. It's probably the only thing that will work. These guys are used to people giving them all kinds of excuses, including the typical "wrong number", even if it's the right person answering.

It's a pain in the rear, but trust me, they will not leave you alone otherwise.

Whatever name this extortion shack wants to use is fine, so long as it can be served a summons for violating FDCPA and related laws. I would shy from using a BK attorney, as many of them are fine for filing routine papers but poor at fighting lawbreakers.

Changing your own phone number should not be necessary when state and federal laws already force rogue debt collectors to obey written demands to stop calling and validate debt claims.

Don't EVER give ANYONE your personal information...period.  Even if they send you an "official" written letter.  the only entity that can make demands of you (that you must comply with) is a judge in a court of law.  If you're not standing in a court, being asked a question by a judge, you have no obligation whatsoever.  these jerks will lie to you and play on your ignorance of the law.  Don't let them.  Even a Judge's powers are limited.  For example, you cannot be compelled to say anything that may incriminate you in any way, even by a judge while you are under oath.  If a judge's power is limited...then some bozo calling you has NO legal power.

I tried to make an arrangement for my mother in law, she is seriously delinquent on a credit card.  He first contact was from a mr lopez who she claimed was very rude and called her names.
So volenteered to try to intervene.  
I sucessfully came to an agreement for approximatly 50% down then a monthly payment.  I asked what th e interest rate would be, I was told 0%.  Great I said, please send me that agreement in writting so we can proceed.  NO WAY, they refused to put anything in writing.  Why would anyone refuse to put an agreement in writting? After all, all they were going to get was access to her bank account.

Yes these people are harrasing me all day calling over and over. They actually left a message this time. They are asking for a person I don't know. They say they are a debt collector who needs some information. NOT COOL!!! People need to get a real job!

You "successfully came to an agreement" with a debt collector which violated your MIL's rights straight from its first phone call? You don't see anything wrong with this picture? If that was my family member, the only "arrangement" I would make is the setting of a court date.
