Well when they call - with a non English speaking accent and they start asking crazy questions- they need to idenify themselves.  If she was calling to "verify" my address she was way off.  Never heard of the street she gave me.  I had to ask several times who she was.  I work in the office alone and did not like the way she asking questions and they way she didn't want to tell me where she was calling from.  Also the caller ID says Mt View California- it would be nice if it said Google

It was Google Maps just verifying the address they had on file and the hours of the business. The person's foreign accent was very thick and hard to understand but they did not attempt to see me anything.

I don't see any reason why these folks can'r leave a message if they're just verifying information - or just send an email.  Sounds fishy.

Called 3 times in a row - nobody there the first 2 - Some woman calling from Mumbai - could barely understand her. Wanted to verify our address, what business were around us and if customers came by?!?

Guy did not identify himself, did not speak clear English, very unprofessional if this even IS
Google. Don't want calls from this number in the future, wastes time.

I had to hang up, it may have been Swahilian or Basque but what ever language it was, it was incomprehensible

I speak three languages including English and could not understand a single word they said. My lawyer said he would love to put together a class action suite for deleted ads.

We have already started switching the core of our advertizing dollars over to Bing.

I keep getting this call to my cell phone... no words just someone breathing and it really ticks me off because it is a long distance call, it clogs up my voicemail and nothing is EVER said! There should be a way to ban these people from having a phone...

It is actually Google Maps.  Call the number back if you don't believe me.  They are in fact verifying that your business is for realsies so that you can keep your Google Maps listing.

With all the fake "Google Maps Service" calls from annoying phone spammers it is important to answer this REAL call from Google Maps so you can keep your business listing in Google Maps.  Depending on what the caller notes regarding your response to his/her questions - your listing on Google Maps will stay or go bye bye.  Don't get pissy with him/her ... you may get delisted!

In order to prevent getting delisted in Google Maps (the next time they call) I put in a contact in my phone's address book so that I can see it is Google calling me.  That way I can sound pleasant and be nice to them (they're nice to me) and answer their inquiry politely.

Today they have called twice on my GV#... and twice they have failed to leave a message.
So if they aren't either courteous or determined enough to actually leave a meaningful message... then why should I waste me time to take a call coming from this number.  GOOGLE... ARE YOU LISTENING?
If this is a legitimate call... then why aren't you considerate enough to leave a message?
There is a reason why I have almost all my calls go to voice mail... MOST calls would just WASTE MY TIME.
And if they have undiscernable dweebs making automaton calls... even a better reason not to answer.

If you are an ENTREPRENEUR or OWN YOUR OWN BUSINESS then PAY ATTENTION:

Google Places or Google Maps has your listing and it is either wrong or expiring.

IF YOU WANT THE CORRECT INFORMATION ON GOOGLE MAPS it is YOUR responsibility to insure it's accuracy!!

Is it worth spending a few minutes to update or correct your information??? Only if you VALUE your CUSTOMERS!!!

Dumb [***] call and then hang up when you answer.

I received a THREATening call from this number. I have verified with a professional telephone consultant who accessed the logs on our phone system. The message was life threatening.
