so get use to those idiots ! ignore them.- Caller: Google Map
- Kristen| 1 replyGot a call from this number today. They just started trying to verify the address, website, phone etc. without identifying themselves. The person speaking had a thick (indian?) accent. I asked who was calling and he said he was calling from Google maps. I said "Google maps, from Google.com?" and he said yes. I said the information was correct. If this really is Google they are very unprofessional. In my line of work I have to make a lot of phone calls and the first thing I do is identify both myself and the company I work for. I'm afraid this might be a scam of some sort...
- Caller: Google maps?
- EI, too, received a call from this number (650) 253-2000. I also have a business. They did not introuduce themselves as any legitimate company would. The indian F@@er just asked to verify my address. When I asked why and who he was, he just repeated the question.
IF THIS WAS A LEGITAMATE COMPANY, THEN HE WOULD HAVE HAD NO REASON NOT TO IDENTIFY THE COMPANY HE WAS WORKING WITH.
I would suggest all of you watch your ip addresses in your business websites. Check the ips in Project HoneyPot to see if they have any info about the address or you can also go to DomainTools. There are many tools to do this with. I just suggested the two that I use on a regular basis.
If the ip host does not point to google servers- then they are NOT GOOGLE. They are spoofing, "imitating", so forth.... - A consultantGot a call from 650-253-2000, highly distorted line sound quality. They immediately told me are you at so and so? I ask who the where, all I got was we are "verifying a business directory listing". If the bone head said he was from Google, I'd be okay with it! Not some unknown foreign voice from India or Malaysia who is looking to steal my identity.
Google get your act together. A simple courtesy of properly addressing people would be nice and identifying themselves would be good. But this is the difference with North America standards and culture, vs other places. Stop outsourcing your jobs and bring them home to America.- Caller: Google Maps

- tClaiming to be google maps updating our business information. Funny though, I've been listed with google maps for 3 years and they've never called me before. The guy kept trying to get more information and the line was very staticky- like he was using a cheap headset or something. Didn't sound very professional. Maybe he was legit, but I got the heeby-jeebies from the call and hung up.
- Caller: Google maps
- WesleyCalled my office when I went to answer no one was there. Could not understand he hung up on my cell.. Not sure what benefit this could be to google the information cannot be accurate that they obtain
- Caller: GOOGLE

- DorothyReceived a call to my business cell phone. No one was there. Googled the number and came upon this website. A fellow business owner has been receiving the same type of call from a different number for the last few days. Very weird and sketchy. Who do you report this to?
- scottthis piece of [***] company called me yesterday at 6:35am. sick at home with flu, burning up with fever and they called me at 6:35am, can you imagine? if the guy was here in front of me, i'd beat him to death on the spot.
- Bill replies to The Dude| 3 repliesI got a call from someone claiming to be from Google Maps from this number 650-253-2000.
I am curious why a Fortune 500 company would hire people with limited English speaking skills to make phone calls saying they are with Google Maps and use a phone line that sounds like they are calling from a small island in the Pacific with a bunch of static on the line.
As I recall, the caller did not identify themselves by first or last name. Simply I am calling from Google Maps.
I explained to the caller that I had lots of people in the store and was he calling about an online item and wouldn't you know he what.... hangs up.
I was going to say there is no way this is Google, but I called the number back and it says Google Maps and the number does not accept inbound calls.
The phone call was completely unprofessional and that is not the type of company that I envision Google to be. - Crayon| 1 replyThey keep calling us at 4 am our time, and if you do answer and tell them it is too early, they call back repeatedly within minutes because they don't seem to understand English. We finally blocked the number on our home phone because they called back several days in a row at 4 am. Then they would call, get the block message ( we would hear one ring) hang up and try again multiple times. These people are stalkers!
- Caller: Couldn't understand them..
- theonlinephonestore.comWas google confirming business address - very unprofessional! Yawned into phone - good grief
- Spaghetti60This is a fact and this number belongs to Google Maps
- The Dude replies to BillOutsourcing. Companies do it. Welcome to the 21st century, enjoy your stay.
- MikeSome Dude called today from this number, heavy Indian accent. Probably offshore phone rep.
- Caller: I don't know
- Erika| 1 replyStep #1 Get on your state's "Do Not Call" list! That helps a little. But, this number still calls. So, I simply tell them that we are on the Do Not Call list and they are violating federal laws by calling our phone number and they hang up on me before I can finish my sentence.
- Caller: Unknown
- CharliWhy don't they just email the businesses? What idiots. Why don't they leave a message?
- Caller: Google Maps?
- Gene replies to CrayonYou should write to Google and tell them so. If the idiots don't call during business hours how can they expect to get an answer? One of the problems with outsourcing.
- AnonymousJust got a call from this number - they had found me on Google Maps. They asked me to verify my address - when I asked the purpose of the call they hung up.
- Lawn RangerIf this is in fact google maps we as cosumers/business owners should flood their emails and any other contact info we can get
- Caller: unknown wouldnt verify
- SomeoneI just got a call today from the 650-253-2000 and he said he was Brian ---- (didn't remember his last name) with Google maps and and more information for my google listing. When i asked for a name and number to have someone call him back he said his phone would not received incoming calls and could i just transfer him to the right person. From reading the previous posts, "Brian" did not have a thick accent and the call was not broken up.
