- JaneWhat are the consequences of answering yes to verify your number to this bogus caller? When I reversed called from caller id to see who answered, I got a local person's cell phone (different area code)and reported the incident to him. What does this mean for him?
- Caller: Google, Inc (not)
- lunacydressAnother vote for this being Google Maps calling to verify your business info. If you *don't* want customers to know where you are, sure, don't answer their questions!

- managerI recieved a call from this number yesterday morning and was very busy. I dont have time for this. I do not list with Google free anything so as far as I know... it is a scam. I informed to lady that if she wanted any information to send me the request in writing. As to the dangers of saying "yes" to anything .... hope you like whatever you just signed up for. All these scam artist need is one simple Yes that they record and you have signed up for something you had no idea about. I also received a call from a 859-740-2334 number and if you "google" that number.. they are also claiming to be Google. I know all the people the company I work for does business with since I handle all the transactions. Google is not one of them. I will never verify any information over the phone.
- Caller: kentucky call
- KenI find it hard to believe that this is from an official google source. I've been letting this go to voice mail and most recently, instead of a message, I got five minutes of heavy breathing. Employees on company time don't do this if they want to keep their job!
- MandollynAsian woman: Is this the owner of *website.com*?
Me: Yes it is.
Asian woman: Give me your address. ***Note my company is out of my home, no address is EVER noted anywhere*
Me: May I ask who this is?
Asian woman: This is someone with the front page of Google Maps
Me: Do NOT call me again. Remove me NOW.
Asian woman is silent.
Me: Goodbye. - JohnGot a call from 650-253-2000, this is a big Indian SCAM. I will contact the Federal Trade Commission (www.ftc.gov) and file a complaint against this illegitimate business. I recommend that you register with the National Do Not Call List. Good Luck!

- ESGot a call from this unknown number. My number is strictly private, so I do not know how anyone could have gotten it. Only five people know it.
- Riad SabbaghIt was so stupid call from that number by saying is that so business name, i said yes, then ask is the address is so so, i said yes. then he hanged up
- LutzR2It was Google Maps confirming the change of address I'd just made from one state to another. I have to admit it was difficult to understand her accent...
- Caller: Google Maps
- ChuckI am so tired of these people calling every day with a different number. I've blocked them every time but they have different numbers and area codes so it's nearly impossible. Yes, I have a Google listing for my business and if I need to make changes, I will do so myself. I don't need to be harassed by them on a daily basis!

- Anti-Telemarketer Bastardo replies to The DudeParanoia is your friend. Don't be an idiot. In reality it is a phone call and not obviously anything else. A recorded message when you call back a number in you CallerID does not prove a thing. Except that maybe you got a phone call. Anyone could play a recorded message on their voicemail greeting that sounded like 911 dispatch. Would you be dumb enough to fall for that if you called it back? Then why believe whatever recording you hear. Who cares who it is? Don't freak out. In my pranking days I learned that many people really are that dumb. Scammers rely on this so wake up people.
CallerID is absolutely not reliable. This is old news. Anyone with some simple knowledge can populate CallerID with just about any number for ignorant people will immediately call back with little thought. The return call is only to make you think you were called legitimately. (Which you still possibly could have been, but particularly with a scam it would need to only appear that way.) The CallerID just has to point to a legit number to establish your trust so you will answer when called back or blindly believe that the weird Indian guy you gave all your personal info to actually does work for Google, LOL!
Outsourcing makes things even worse.
All a scammer may want is some information. They just need to talk to a live person to get it. Think for a few minutes.
This would by the way; also be a great way to get unsolicited calls blamed on Google. Which also cannot be reliably proven. THAT IS THE WHOLE POINT!
LOL! - ClemsHe just called and the first thing he asked was about my address....I denied everything....
- Elenasome body call me about 10:30 a.m askim me if my address was ?? I did not give real answer when I told him that I will call him back He hang-up
- HeinrichAsked if this was (company name) by someone having problems with the language. Caller I.D.shows Google Inc.
- FoxrepublicanThey just called me back and caller ID said Google, inc. I had just updated my google places for one of my accounts and it was the one they were asking about so I'm guessing that is what they are doing.
They don't identify themselves but I think that is because they want honest answers as google has a problem with folk using friends addresses to up there placement.- Caller: Google, Inc

- Arthur SimmonsYes, this is google maps - just call the number to hear. The caller though did not identify herself (as calling from Google), spoke weak english, and only wanted to verify our address.

- NowThenThey call and hang up, call and hang up, call and hang up.

- JimA foreign woman (philipino?) called breathing heavily into the phone. I immediately suspected some sort of solicitation. I asked if the woman was a representative of Google, and she said yes, so I confirmed my address. I'm not sure if this is Google though. It just seemed so unprofessional.
