Great site. I've been getting these calls for at least a month, and they are always a hang-up. I called the American Cancer Society number posted here, and they confirmed that it is part of their "Notes To Neighbors" program, which uses an automated dialing system. 30 days to get off the list. This is really bad marketing.

Started receiving calls from this number a few weeks ago.  An elderly neighbor, recently widowed, informed me that she has also been receiving these calls and was quite frightened by them.

In my opinion, this is a rather strange way to solicit volunteers and donations by tormenting people with constant telephone calls.  I am writing a letter to the ACS to let them know that the donations we have been sending will stop, and instead, we'll support our local cancer center.

This is yet another example of a large charity misspending donations!

This number repeatedly calls me every day, sometimes more than once a day.  It is very annoying!

Called American Cancer Society @ 866-435-7227 and asked to have my number removed from their call list.  I was not beligerant or ignorant but very direct and the operator took my information and explained the 30 day thing and was very courteous back to me.

I have been receiving calls from this number for the past two weeks. Only message they leave, if they leave one, is asking "hello".

My number is on the National Don't Call List

Just got off the phone with a very courteous person, Jennifer. I made it very clear that I was on the Nat'l Don't Call Service. I also made note that I had only positive association with American Cancer Society, and these robocalls seriously tainted my opinion of ACS and I would make my new feelings known to anyone and everyone. I encourage everyone that calls the "human number" to mention something to this effect.

I repeatedly receive phone calls from this number with no message. The caller ID does not engage with this number.

Yes, this is the American Cancer Society. If you call the human number of 866-435-7227 you can be taken off their list after 30 days. I was told that they were given the number from a friend/neighbor who is a donor. You may also get a solicitation letter in the mail from the American Cancer Society - and from that letter you can see who gave them your number.

We've been getting calls from this number too.  With the help of posts above, we called and determined that it is the American Cancer Society,and they said they'll remove our number from their auto dialing list.

It's the American Cancer Society.  We just got our number removed from their auto dialing unit by calling 866-435-7227 and speaking to a live person.

I called 1.866.435.7227 to remove my tele number. Takes 30 days to remove me..

Same.  Automatic computer calls.  Called and comfirmed it was the American Cancer Center Friends program.  

Got tired of them calling, called the number, pressed 1 to talk to someone, and it then gave me the option of entering a phone number that I wanted taken off the list.  Says it will be done within 30 days.

I emailed ACS to tell them to remove me from their list since they will never hear a live voice if they won't identify. Got a call a couple of days later and answered it. She seemed surprised that I was a live person. I asked if they keep a record of the number of times they have called and told her that this is the only time they will hear a live person so they might as well remove me from the list. She just said ok..Got reply from ACS saying that I would be removed but it would take 30 days...I think this is a repeat from a year or so ago. Gonna keep email this time..

Just received call and followed advice above to have name removed. I believe I was also receiving them at home--with caller ID showing "Atlanta, GA" call. I asked them to remove both numbers. It certainly leaves a negative impression of the American Cancer Society.

Foolishly, answered the call.  No one was there!

Tired of getting these calls.

I finally googled this number...I've gotten several calls a day.  Thank goodness for caller ID.  I never answer when no name is listed so I've been spared the solicitation spiel.  No message ever.

I have registered for National No Call and  receive calls from this number even late at night.
What can I do about this?

Received this call from the American Cancer Society, automated caller, no message left but quite irritating as it interupted us on a Sunday afternoon at 2:00PM. Shame on them. The ACS does so many positive things, this is an afront to their efforts. Stop this immediately.
