I called the 866-435-7227 to also have my number removed from their list.  American Cancer Society.  They said it is computer generated calls and if you answer too soon somehow it disconnects.  I think it's BS and they should follow the no call list.   But since they are non-profit they can get by with it...  For this harrassment I will not donate to them.

Numerous calls from this number, no messages left. (I do not answer unrecognizable numbers)  I'm on Do Not Call list, so should not be getting

Phone rings. Answering machine picks up. Caller hangs up. This is nearly always at dinnertime & is *very* annoying!

BTW: IF this truly is the American Cancer Society -- shame on them & no more $$$ to them until they stop this shameful practice.

Calls from this # daily. I ignore them, but wish they'd just quit wasting their time and not call anymore. Get a clue--I'm not going to answer. Thank goodness for CID.

Ok I'm so PISSED.  I used to work for the American Cancer Society!!!!!!!!!! However, I don't work for them anymore.  I want them to take me off their solicitation list.  Actually, I am not surprised that you are getting calls from them. They are in desperate need for money (although if I were you, I wouldn't give them any money based on this kind of harassment).  Unfortunately, since they are a charity they don't qualify for the do not call list--charities are exempt.  From someone who used to work for them (I'm completely pissed about this that they keep soliciting from me--ERRRRR--and I'm going to let someone know to take me OFF their list), I apologize for all the harassing calls you've all been getting!

received 1 call/day.  finally answered this afternoon.  dead silence.  completely annoying, can't believe the American Cancer Society is involved.

We also received calls from that number. No messages. Cancer society or not this is equivalent to spam mail.

Shame on American Cancer Society to be spending money annoying the public.  I have given to them in the past but no more as this is an example of how they are spending money.  I expect my donation to go to research not a company making annoying calls and hanging up and not leaving a message.  ACS has lost my patronage.

GOT CALL ABOUT 4:30 PM LOCAL TIME, ANSWERED BUT NO ONE THERE.

Call on to two times per day.  Never leave a message and never anyone on the line if you pick up.

Calls from this number began coming to home number on a Sunday, when I answered, not one word came from the other end of the line.  There have been calls from this same number since then and they don't leave a message.  It IS the American Cancer Society, found that out after listening to the message on the 678 area code number.  This is NOT the way to recruit people to collect donations from neighbors!! You can call 866-435-7227 to supposedly have your phone number removed from these menacing calls.

I called the number and when they finally answered the phone she was very polite about taking my name and address off the list. She did mention that it would take 30 days to complete the process.

This number calls at least 3 - 4 times per week. Leaves no message.  If this is the American Cancer Society, I definitely will not contribute to their cause with this type of solitation.

These guys call about every 2 hours never leaving a message.

Caller ID showed a missed call at 8:15 p.m. from "Georgia".  I looked up the phone number on Google and found this site.  Thank you for this service.  I will call the 866 number indicated so as to avoid the hassle described by other callers.  I, too, agree that the National "Do Not Call" List should include these unwanted solicitations.

Received a call from this number yesterday.  When I answered, the call automatically disconnected.  

Same number no message. Calls early morning and evening. ACS also calls from an 800 number and does mailings. I just ignore these calls. I stopped support for this organization when I discovered how little actually goes to the cause vs. the fundraising. Check Charity Navigator for a full report on any charity. www.charitynavigator.org and look up American Cancer Society. You will be surprised. The CEO of ACS makes $534K/year.
