I had one call per day for the last three, all hang-ups, no msg left.  I called the 866 number mentioned above and talked to a human who said "it takes 30 days to get you off the list but I'm going to take care of that now..."  It's the American Cancer Society "Notes to Neighbors Program" (?) I told the human to make a note to take this neighbor off the system.

Just started getting these calls, in this day why does it take 30 days to get off a phone list?  This type of stuff will loose ACS donors.

I have been receiving phone calls from this number several times a day.  No one leaves a message.

Got a call from that number about 2 p.m. yesterday. Very happy to find this site. Seems I had a problem with the Cancer Society once before. How do we make them go away?

I actually am a telefundraiser with the American Cancer Society, and while I can't account for the automatic phone calls (or the calls in Georgia - we don't call Georgia at out center), I can certainly try to answer a few questions for you folks.


It does take 30 days to get you out of our records simply because we service a huge amount of the country at our teleservice center, and if you've been generous enough to donate in the past on more than one occasion, you may have repeat entries within our system. We give you that warning for that reason.

As for wasting the donations that our constituents have been kind enough to support us with, I would also have to say that's false. We're actually ranked on the Better Business Bureau website (www.give.org) as the top cancer organization for our allocation of funds. We are highly responsible with how we use the donations we receive, and I stand by that.


I am genuinely sorry you folks are so disgruntled with us...but instead of slamming the phone in our ears, or swearing at us, or something like that, could you just kindly ask us to take you off your list, and wait until we tell you that we've done so, and to have a nice day? Hanging up on us will actually just cause us to call you back, because of the way our system codes the call...and the same thing if you decide you want to pretend that the head of the household is not available. So you're really only hurting yourself and making yourself more frustrated.


I hope this clears some things up for you. Hopefully you can stop hating a well-intentioned organization for a few bad experiences.

This number calls several times a day, lately almost every day.  If this is the American Cancer Society, can anyone confirm that their direct request line(866-435-7227) actually resulted in these calls stopping (and did not result in new unsolicited telemarketer calls)?

I GET NUMEROUS CALL FROM THIS NUMBER. THEY DON'T LEAVE A MESSAGE.

I've been getting multiple calls per day and they - some are just hang-ups and others wait until my message plays and leaves a silent message.  I am going to try the 866 number to get off their list but this is driving me nuts!

they called while I was out and asked to speak to me.  My daughter answered the phone.  no message was left.

I received a hang up call at 8:57 p.m. on a Friday night. I think
this is inappropriate especially if it is the American Cancer

I too receive these calls.....from 678-846-0507.  No one is ever on the line when I pick up.  I have called 866-435-7227 and asked to be removed.  They say it will take 30 days.  Very annoying.

Like many others, we've received an unsolicited call from 678-846-0507 leaving no message. Thanks for maintaining this site.

We just went through this with Planned Parenthood (323-330-1452). We have contributed to both not-for-profits for years. After contacting both organizations about the problem and their failure to remove us from the call lists, we have decided these organizations have lost the kind of self-control necessary to be effective charities. We have removed them as beneficiaries of our family trust.

The stupid [***] do not call list is a joke and every goddamn company exploits it. If you are a telemarketer or what have you I want you to know you are an [***].

Yep - I got a call today 2/27/2007 from this number.  Does anyone know what the deal is?  As soon as I answered there was no one on the other end.
