 Same thing, Voice with heavy Indian accent said that he was Windows Technical Department.  I didn't let him go any further. I cursed at him and told him to go F himself and that I already knew about their scam.  He didn't say anything else, he just hung up. It feels good to give these vermin a piece of my mind!  They're been calling me several times a day, every day, for MONTHS. I usually don't answer but today I'd had enough!

  Feds spent 17 Trillion dollars per year but can't/ WON'T enforce the DNC list!   Fuk you, Obama! I wonder how much his golfing trips are costing us!

   Caller ID says "Unavailable", that's a SURE sign of a SCAM!

I got 2 calls from these schemers this morning.  The first call was from a quasi polite Indian accent gentleman who insisted he was with Windows and that my system was sending them error messages.  He wanted me to get on my computer and make some adjustments to fix it.  I was suspicious immediately and asked if I could call him back to verify he was with Microsoft.  I contacted the Answer Desk at Microsoft immediately who told me it was a SCAM.  About an hour later an indignant thick Indian accented monkey butt who was a lot more aggressive.  I asked for the Service Request Number assigned to the issue and he told his employee ID number was none of my business.  Hilarious. I blocked the # so the phone won't even ring if I get a call from that # again. I also reported it to every federal complaint option I could find... and filed a report with Microsoft.

Same as the others. Even gave his technician password. Said his name was Lucas Brown.  Right.  Not enough vowels there buddy for an Indian dialect.

This morning at about 11AM, I received a call similar to the ones reported in this posting site.  The caller had a thick foreign accented voice claiming to be from "Windows".  I asked what department he was calling from and he said "windows support".  I then asked him what company he worked for and he said "windows".  I told him that windows was not a company and again asked him for his company name to which he responded something unintelligible.  He then insisted that my computer had been infected and that he wanted to fix it for me.  I replied that my computer was not infected.  He insisted that it was and that he could prove it.  Knowing all along that this was a scam, I said goodbye and hung up.

What was really weird was that I had been surfing the web prior to receiving this call and, after clicking on a link which looked safe, encountered a web page which vocally told me that my computer had been infected with a virus and showed a visual message asking me to call an 800 number to get it fixed.  After trying to get by this message unsuccessfully, I was able to close it by clicking "OK".  Obviously someone had hijacked the URL I had clicked on.

Imagine my surprise when a mere 10 minutes later I got this call from the guy in Buffalo.  While I knew it was a scam from the beginning, I was a bit concerned that it came a mere 10 minutes after the message I got on the web page.

I, of course, ran a McAfee Virus Scan and checked to see that no new programs or updates had been installed today.  Everything was clean.

Call this morning simply registered as Out of Area.  Did not answer and no message left.  Based on the reports above, am just blocking the call.  Do not use Windows!

Over the past 3 years, I have had at least 20 of this type call where they say there's a corrupt file on the computer.  They just keep changing numbers...or maybe they are expanding so everyone can get in on scamming people who don't know any better.  Especially people who don't know much about their computer.  This scares them into giving information they would never give out ordinarily.

Please trust what you read here and know that they use, or have used, many different numbers.  Just hang up!

PS:  I wonder why "Scammer" isn't included in the Call Type below?

Indian-type voice calling from the Windows Center or something dumb like that. Something my computer blah, blah, blah. It wasn't even a good scam attempt. I hung up on him and he called back. Then I hung up on him again. My guess: He is getting names and numbers from resumes people post online.

Same B/S today on my non-published (no one has this) number.  Luckily I have a phone system that allows me to block it.  This is the type of  A**H*** that is probably calling from off-shore regardless of what phoney number shows on the caller ID. Apparently the do not call list is worthless.

The usual Indian computer scam.

Got a call saying my computer needed repair and  asked for info about it.I told him my computer is rarely used so thre is no way he got any signal from it.If it needs repair Verizon takes care of that.

I'm local to Buffalo so I picked up since I thought it could be someone I know. I played dumb for a few minutes and then interrupted him and said, "Hey, can I ask a question? How do you sleep at night knowing you scam people, you pond scum idiot?" He then told me to go [***] myself, which I promptly wished him the same. He then hung up.

Caller will state to be windows that there is a warning whatever - this is an Identity theft caller tell them to go...... well you can figure the rest.... tell em like it is.... and get off the phone but do not engage to talk to them in a meaningful way or yield any details or they will rook you. They get a little testy when pushed so go ahead and push their buttons... they deserve it!!!

Received two calls today.  I did not answer but am thankful I read the blogs on this page waring us.

Keep getting calls from this number demanding $49.00. Had an accent and would not take number off call list.

2 calls today from this number.   Did not answer either one and they left no message.

Same as all the other reports. Called me, I let him go through all his jargon, told him I didn't have windows, this is a scam and that he was trying to steal money from me. He called me a liar, that I did too have windows. I said I was going to Rory this number.
